REX
I had to shake Alina awake when we pulled into the parking lot. She groaned and snuggled closer. “Alina, baby, we’re here.” She lifted her head off my shoulder and peered out the window.
“Wowwww, it’s huge!” Her eyes widened.
I unbuckled the seatbelts and pulled her out of the back seat. “When was the last time you were at a mall?”
“I’m not sure, honestly. As soon as I was old enough, I started working at this small clothing boutique. I got my clothes mostly from there and I didn’t stray too far because I didn’t want anybody to find me.” Alina shrugged her shoulders and looked all around her. “Where should we start?”
“How about you go with the girls to get started? I’m going to go get you cellphone.” I pulled my wallet out and handed Alina my credit card. “Get whatever you want.”
She pouted, “You’re not staying with us?”
“I’ll be fast. I promise.” I kissed the top of her head and looked to my sister and Rachel. “Keep an eye on her?”
“We got it bro. Don’t worry.”
I turned and split for the AT&T store at the other end of the mall.
ALINA
“Don’t worry, Alina, he’ll come back.” Rachel wrapped her arm around my shoulders and dragged me through the mall with Eliza next to us. “So, Rex told us you’re a rogue and that you were looking for sanctuary.”
“Yeah, some other rogues have been after me for a while. My wolf and I lost them before we reached your territory.”
For over an hour I let Rachel and Eliza drag me through the mall and pick out dozens of different outfits along with about twenty pairs of underwear and different kinds of bras as well as pairs of shoes. It was exhausting and I was beginning to wonder where Rex went. After the girls and I had so many bags of clothes we decided to hit the food court for some food.
“Check out the girls in front of us.” I heard a guy whisper behind us.
Luckily with our wolf hearing, we all heard them. I huffed and stayed focused on all the bags I was carrying.
“My favorite is one with the black hair. I mean, check out her ass.”
A low growl began to rumble in my throat.
“Oh no.” Rachel moaned.
I whirled around and dropped all my bags. If there’s one thing I learned from being out on my own, take s**t from nobody.
“Alina.” Rachel whispered in my ear. “Don’t make a scene.”
“If you have something to say, say it to our faces.” I snapped at the two guys.
They weren’t very big especially compared to Rex. “We’re just giving you a compliment that’s all. You have a nice ass.” The shorter one looked me up and down. “Not to mention a nice rack too.”
“Hey! Her eyes are up here!” Eliza shouted at them and pointed to up towards her face.
“How about you show some respect.” I folded my arms across my chest, trying to cover myself from them.
“Come on baby, don’t cover up.” The taller one reached my wrist and I instantly reacted. Before he grabbed my arm, I snatched his right hand and twisted. He yelped in pain and fell to his knees.
“Don’t presume to touch me.” I growled.
Eliza and Rachel were at my side immediately. My hope is that one of them mind linked Rex.
“Let him go.” The shorter one took a step forward.
“I suggest you step away from my girlfriend and her friends before somebody gets hurt.”
