CHAPTER SIXTEEN
Half an hour later, Simon and I returned to my apartment. The reason it took us so long was that we had to spend a lot of time convincing Matilda that she would be safe at home alone by herself even without us. Matilda was practically convinced that Xander was going to kill her in her house if we left her alone and that she needed our protection if she was going to feel safe. However understandable her fears were, Simon and I were detectives, not bodyguards, so it took us quite some time to convince her that she would be safe on her own. I even had to cast a protection spell over her house just to calm her down.
