Chapter 7: The Aftermath
Amelia slowly sat up, her head still reeling from the sudden blackout. Lex's eyes were fixed on her, his expression etched with concern.
"Amelia, are you okay?" he asked, his voice laced with worry. "You just suddenly collapsed. I think we should get you to a hospital."
Amelia shook her head, trying to clear the cobwebs. "No, I'm fine. Really. Just a bit... dizzy."
As she stood up, the cafe patrons began to stir, whispering among themselves. Lex quickly ushered her out of the cafe, into the fresh morning air.
"Let's get you home," he said, his arm around her waist, supporting her.
Amelia didn't resist. She was still trying to process what had happened. One minute she was talking to Lex, and the next, everything went black.
As they walked to his car, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Lex's expression was tense, his eyes darting around like he was checking for something... or someone.
"Lex, what happened back there?" Amelia asked, her voice firm. "I don't just black out for no reason."
Lex's expression turned grave. "I don't know, Amelia. But we need to get you checked out. It could be something serious."
Amelia nodded, her mind racing with possibilities. Was it stress? Anxiety? Or something more sinister?
As they drove to her studio, the tension between them was palpable. Amelia couldn't help but feel like Lex was hiding something from her.
When they arrived at her studio, Amelia stepped out of the car, her legs still feeling a bit shaky. Lex followed her inside, his eyes scanning the space like he was searching for something.
"Lex, what are you doing?" Amelia asked, her voice firm.
Lex turned to her, his expression intense. "I don't want you to be alone right now. I'm staying with you."
Amelia raised an eyebrow. "I don't think that's a good idea."
Lex's eyes locked onto hers. "I don't care. You're not going to be alone until we figure out what happened to you."
Amelia's heart skipped a beat. What was going on? And what was Lex hiding?
