The morning sunlight bathed the room as King Ragnar stirred, feeling unusually weak. Calling out for water, a maid swiftly entered and offered him a drink. As he sipped the water, he noticed that the maid bore the black tag they usually wore in mourning. "Has someone among the maids passed away?" He inquired. "Yes, my lord," Came the somber reply. "Who?" He pressed further. "Rebecca," The maid responded with a heavy heart. At the mention of Rebecca's name, the cup fell from the king's hand, shock and worry written all over his face. The news of Rebecca's death struck him deeply, leaving him reeling from the unexpected loss of his love. The maid, concerned about the king's reaction, asked, "Are you okay, my lord?" "Yes, you may leave," He replied, his mind grappling with the news of Rebecca's passing. Struggling to comprehend the sudden loss, he dressed quickly and made his way to Rebecca's house. Inside Rebecca's room, her daughter Caroline was in tears. The king entered and offered his condolences. "Sorry about your loss," He expressed sympathetically. "Didn't she see the physician since she fell sick?" The king inquired. "She did," Caroline replied through tears. "She even did yesterday. She used her medication." The king, lost in thought, noticed the medication on the bedside table. "Was that the drug she was using?" He asked, his gaze fixed on the medicine. As Caroline raised her eyes to follow his gaze, she recognized the drug. "Yes, it is," She confirmed. The king, clutching the medication, urgently inquired, "Who is the physician that prescribed this drug to her?" Caroline gives details about the physician and the king quickly leaves, taking the medication, heading straight to the physician's office. At the physician's office, the doctor was attending to some patients. Frightened by the sudden entrance of the King, the patients rushed out, offering a respectful bow and greeting to the king. The physician respectfully bowed before the king without looking up. "My lord," He acknowledged. "How many children do you have?" The king inquired. "Four, my lord," The physician responded. "If you don't want all of them to face dire consequences, tell me everything you know about this drug," the king demanded, his voice carrying a weight of authority and urgency as he dropped the medication he received from Caroline onto the table. The physician, overcome with emotion, pleaded, "My lord, forgive me. It was Prince Astaroth who instructed me to keep her pregnancy a secret and he came yesterday, telling me to administer the drug." "Prince Astaroth?" The king echoed, stunned by the revelation. "Yes," The physician confirmed with teary eyes. The king's resolve solidified. He swiftly rushed to Astaroth's chamber, determination etched on his face as he entered the room. **Astaroth POV** As my father barged into the room, I barely had time to greet him before a sudden punch struck me, sending me reeling backward. Shocked by the unexpected blow, I fall, my father transforming into an alpha werewolf before my eyes, a sight I hadn't witnessed in years. spontaneously , I shifted my stance, all set to defend myself. The room became a battleground. He lunged at me with a ferocity I hadn't seen before, delivering rapid punches aimed at my vital points. I had to react swiftly, blocking his strikes while maintaining my defense. Dodging and parrying his attacks, I countered with precise moves, aiming to protect myself from his relentless assault. The intensity of the fight surged, each move strategic, as we engaged in a fierce battle for survival. The fight intensified as my father seized the sword from my room. Before I could react, the silvery blade struck me repeatedly, cutting into me five times. His final strike plunged the sword deep into my chest, narrowly missing my heart. Paralyzed by pain, I lay motionless, the gravity of the wound immobilizing me. As he withdrew the sword, transforming back into his human form, he demanded answers. "Why did you do that?" he roared, confronting me about the death of the innocent maid and her unborn child. "Father, she would have become your weakness. She didn't deserve to be thrust into your world," I attempted to explain. "You did this out of your own selfishness!" He accused me vehemently. "I will ensure you face the consequences for this. You, you bastard!" Shocked by his words, I tried to respond, but before I could utter a word, he stormed out, instructing the guards to confine me within the room. I was left alone, grappling with the aftermath of the confrontation and the weight of my actions. ********** As the king departed from his son's quarters, he encountered one of his vigilant guards along the castle's corridors. "Prepare my dwelling; we must make haste to the village besieged last night," the king declared urgently. The guard swiftly departed to make the necessary arrangements. After a brief interval, the report returned: "All is prepared, Your Majesty." "Very well. We shall depart with a small retinue to ensure a swift return," the king decided, aware of the necessity for a speedy journey to the troubled village. Laden with a sense of purpose, the king, accompanied by a handful of guards, commenced their expedition. Amidst their journey through dense foliage, a rustling movement caught the king's discerning eye. Halting his entourage, he instructed his guards to cease their advance and dispatched one to investigate the suspicious disturbance. Much to their astonishment, only the lone guard returned from the thicket. Sensing imminent danger, the king and the remaining guard swiftly prepared themselves for an impending assault, bracing for the unknown threat lurking in the shadows of the bush. In a sudden and unexpected turn of events, the enigmatic assailants hidden within the foliage launched a vicious attack upon the king and his guards. These mysterious foes displayed remarkable speed and strength, yet they found themselves outmatched by the unparalleled agility of the king himself. Despite this advantage, their overwhelming numbers posed a dire threat. Engulfed in a prolonged and grueling confrontation, the king's loyal guards fought valiantly. However, one by one, they fell victim to the relentless assault, until only a sole guard stood beside the monarch, their resilience undeterred in the face of impending danger. With grim determination etched on their faces, the lone remaining guard and the king, prepared themselves for any further onslaught. Surrounded and vastly outnumbered, they readied their defenses, standing as beacons of unwavering courage against the encroaching threat.
