The First Touch

Scarlett – POV The sterile smell of the doctor’s office hit her as soon as she walked through the door. A far cry from Dominic’s penthouse. This place was cold. Clinical. Empty. Her hand instinctively went to her stomach. This wasn’t real. It couldn’t be. How could it be? She was pregnant with his child. After everything, she was now tied to Dominic in a way that couldn’t be undone. She looked up as Dominic stepped beside her, tall and intimidating as always. His eyes flicked to her with a barely concealed look of concern, but he didn’t speak. He rarely did these days. “Scarlett,” the nurse called, “please come in.” Dominic gave her a look, wordlessly commanding her to go first. She took a deep breath and followed the nurse into the back, feeling Dominic’s eyes on her the entire time. --- Dominic – POV He watched her every move. The way she walked. The way she tried to hold herself together. But he could see it. The way her hand never left her stomach. The way she fidgeted with her fingers. She was terrified. She hadn’t told him everything yet, but he knew. He could feel it. He hadn’t let her out of his sight for days. But today? Today, something felt different. Vulnerable. Real. And he didn’t like the idea of her facing this alone. --- Scarlett – POV The exam room was suffocating. The nurse had left, and Scarlett sat on the bed, swinging her legs nervously. The sounds of the heart monitor beeped in the background, a constant reminder of what was happening. She glanced at Dominic, who was standing by the window, arms crossed, eyes lost in the view outside. “I don’t want you here,” she muttered, more to herself than him. He didn’t respond. He never did when she said things like that. But she noticed how his jaw clenched. His posture stiffened. “You should leave,” she added. “You don’t have to be here for this.” He turned sharply. “This is my responsibility now. Don’t make me regret it.” She flinched at his words, even though she knew they were true. The door opened again. The doctor entered, a tall woman with blonde hair and an air of authority. “Good afternoon, Scarlett. Dominic,” she said, nodding toward them both. Dominic remained silent, standing in the corner. “Let’s get started, shall we?” The next few minutes felt like a blur of questions and tests. She was asked to lie back on the exam table, and she hated how vulnerable it made her feel. The cold gel on her stomach was a sharp contrast to the warmth of Dominic’s gaze, which never left her. Her pulse quickened when the doctor pressed the ultrasound wand against her skin. And then… there it was. The tiny flicker of life. The heartbeat. Her throat tightened, and she could feel Dominic’s eyes burning into her. She didn’t dare look at him. The doctor smiled. “Congratulations, Scarlett. You’re about eight weeks along. You’re officially pregnant.” --- Dominic – POV The moment the doctor spoke those words, everything changed. Scarlett froze. He felt her panic, her hesitation. She didn’t look at him. She didn’t even acknowledge his presence, but he could sense the way she shut down. His chest tightened. It wasn’t a weakness. It was a strength. Scarlett was afraid. Afraid of him, afraid of the life growing inside her. But worse… she was afraid of what that life meant for both of them. He didn’t let his thoughts linger on that. He walked toward the exam table, stepping close enough that she would feel his presence, but not too close to make her uncomfortable. He waited for her to look at him. To say something. Her eyes flicked to his. There was a mixture of fear, relief, and something else he couldn’t quite place. Without thinking, he reached for her hand. Her skin was warm, trembling slightly under his touch. She didn’t pull away. Her lips parted. “What happens now?” Dominic wasn’t sure if she was asking about the baby, about them, or about everything in between. But he was done pretending he didn’t care. “We figure it out together,” he said, his voice low and steady. Her breath caught. He smiled. --- Scarlett – POV She was no longer sure of what she wanted. Or needed. But one thing was undeniable—her body responded to Dominic. Whether it was the raw need for him or the aching void inside her, she couldn’t say. But when his fingers brushed hers, she felt it. The connection. She leaned into him. And that was all it took. Dominic leaned forward and kissed her, soft at first, hesitant, but then it grew. She let him. She let him in, not just physically, but emotionally too. She wasn’t sure if it was the baby, or the intense, undeniable pull toward him, but she couldn’t stop herself. His hands moved slowly down her body, finding the curve of her waist. “I’ll take care of you,” he whispered against her lips. --- Dominic – POV Her response was everything he needed to hear. She wanted this. She wanted him. He pulled her closer, guiding her down onto the exam table, his body moving above hers. She gasped, her body instinctively arching into his. He kissed her deeper this time, his lips demanding, yet soft. He pulled away just enough to whisper, “You’re mine, Scarlett. All of you.” --- Scarlett – POV For the first time, she didn’t fight it. Her hands tangled in his hair as he kissed her again, deeper this time, more urgent. There was no space between them. No walls. Only him, and the undeniable heat of their connection. She could feel the weight of his touch, his body against hers. It was all consuming. Dominant, yet tender. It made her question everything she had thought she knew about herself. He kissed her throat, her collarbone, each touch igniting a fire she hadn’t felt in years. Her back arched under him, and she could feel him everywhere—his touch, his warmth, his control. And she didn’t want him to stop. --- Dominic – POV He couldn’t stop. Not now. Not after seeing her this vulnerable, this open. He pulled away briefly, his chest heaving, as he looked down at her, his fingers brushing over her stomach. His heart skipped a beat. “You’re carrying my child,” he whispered. Scarlett’s eyes fluttered open, staring up at him with a mixture of vulnerability and strength. “Yes,” she breathed. He kissed her again, and this time it was slower, deeper, as if the world had stopped spinning, and there was only them.
