One night. One mistake. One forbidden craving that never died.

Scarlett Rivers swore she'd never let Dominic Blackthorn touch her again.

He was the man who broke her heart, rejected her love, and tossed her aside like she meant nothing. Now a cold, powerful Alpha billionaire, Dominic commands an empire — but he still can't forget the one woman who got away.

When fate forces them back together in the most dangerous way possible — a drunken one-night stand — everything spirals out of control.

She wants nothing to do with him.

He wants her back… on her knees.

But Scarlett is hiding a secret.

And Dominic is hiding a deal:

One year. One marriage contract. No emotions. No escape.

She’s fire and fury.

He’s ice and control.

Together, they burn.

In a world of dominance, lies, and hidden desires, love was never supposed to be part of the contract… but now it’s the only thing left that can destroy them both.

The Night That Shouldn’t Have Happened
Scarlett – POV Five years. Five years of silence, survival, and pretending he didn’t exist. And now, here he was — Dominic Blackthorn, the man who tore her apart — standing less than ten feet away in a place he didn’t belong. Scarlett’s heart stuttered the moment her eyes caught his. Ice-blue. Burning. Dangerous. God, he looked… worse. Worse in the best way. He was taller somehow. His black suit wrapped around his broad frame like it was sewn onto his body. And that voice—she hadn't heard it in years, but her skin still remembered it. She was supposed to just work the bar tonight. She wasn't supposed to see him. Not now. Not ever. And especially not on the same damn night she finally decided to wear heels and lipstick and pretend like her life was under control. He moved through the club like he owned it. Maybe he did. Bastard probably bought the whole damn street. “Scarlett,” his voice called from behind. It didn’t sound surprised. It sounded like possession. She turned slowly, refusing to flinch. “Dominic.” He was the Alpha who rejected her. Now he looked at her like he wanted to devour her. --- Dominic – POV He wasn’t supposed to be here tonight. He came to sign a quick business deal. Have a drink. Leave. But then he saw her. Scarlett. The name still made something claw through his chest. He hated how easily the fire came back. One glimpse of her in that little black dress and all logic vanished. Her hair was still wild, the color of wine and sin. Her body had only grown more lethal — and those green eyes? Still full of fire. Still full of fight. He remembered the way she looked at him the night she left. As if he’d betrayed her. She never gave him a chance to explain. Not that he wanted one. He told himself he didn’t care. He told himself it was over. He told himself if he ever saw her again, he’d walk the other way. But now she stood there… lips parted… chest rising with shallow breath… and all he could think was: I want her back. And this time, I’m not asking. --- Scarlett – POV “What do you want?” she asked, arms crossed, chin tilted. Dominic stepped closer, the scent of his cologne hitting her like a storm: dark wood, leather, control. He didn’t answer. His gaze dropped slowly, stopping at her lips. “Didn’t think you still lived in this city,” he finally said. “I don’t. Just… passing through.” Lie. A terrible one. “I see,” he murmured, his eyes darkening. “Passing through the same bar three nights in a row, wearing that dress?” Scarlett flushed. “It’s none of your business.” “It was,” he said softly. “Once.” Her breath caught. She hated how easily those words still affected her. “Don’t,” she said, backing up. “I’m not her anymore.” He smiled — slow and wicked. “Then prove it. Walk away right now and pretend you feel nothing.” Scarlett stared at him. Then turned… and walked away. --- Dominic – POV He didn’t follow. Not immediately. She wanted him to chase. She wanted to pretend she didn’t care. But her eyes betrayed her. That heat? That trembling hand? Scarlett Rivers still burned for him. And he intended to make her burn again. --- Scarlett – POV Fifteen minutes later, she was in the back hallway of the club, catching her breath and trying not to cry. Why now? Why did he still look at her like that? Why did her body betray her — the way her thighs clenched and her heart raced just from his voice? She closed her eyes. “Still running?” came the voice she knew too well. She turned and gasped. He was already behind her. Trapped between the wall and his scent. “Get out of my way, Dominic,” she said. But her voice didn’t match her words. He stepped closer. “Say it like you mean it.” --- He kissed her. Hard. Possessive. Punishing. Scarlett gasped, her hand pushing against his chest — but her lips didn’t resist. His mouth devoured hers, his hand threading into her hair. “Ahh… no…” she whimpered. He pulled back, just enough to whisper against her lips, “Then tell me to stop.” She froze. Swallowed. “I… can’t,” she whispered. “Because you still want this,” he growled, pressing her against the wall, his thigh slotting between hers. “Admit it.” “Hah… yes… Dominic…” His lips were on her neck now, kissing, biting. “Why do you still make me feel like this?” she moaned, her voice breaking. “Because you’re mine,” he said, voice deep and low. “You always were.” --- Dominic – POV He didn’t care if it was wrong. Didn’t care if this was a mistake. She felt too damn good. Her skin still remembered him. Her lips still opened for him. Her body melted under his touch. He dragged his mouth down her collarbone, yanking down the straps of her dress as she gasped. “Dominic—hah—slow down…” “No,” he growled, grabbing her wrists and pinning them above her head. “You don’t get to walk back into my life and pretend I don’t exist.” Her lips parted. “Ahh… yes… please…” He kissed her harder, deeper, until she trembled in his arms. She was wet. He could feel it through her panties. “You’re mine,” he whispered against her ear. “Say it.” “I hate you,” she moaned. He grinned. “Then why are you begging me to hold you?” Her hips rolled against him. He lifted her, her legs wrapping around him as he pressed her against the wall. --- Scarlett – POV It shouldn’t have happened. She hated him. But her body never stopped needing him. His hand slid down between them, fingers pressing where she ached most. “Dominic—ahh… yes… right there…” He silenced her with a kiss that made her mind spin. It was fast. Rough. Desperate. Not love. Not forgiveness. But need. --- Dominic – POV When she came undone in his arms, moaning his name with trembling lips, he felt a piece of himself return. Scarlett Rivers — the girl who got away — was his again. Even if just for one night. He didn’t know she was already planning to leave. Didn’t know she was hiding a secret that would burn his entire world down. --- Scarlett – POV She left before he woke up. She slipped out of bed with sore thighs and a shattered heart, grabbed her dress, and walked into the morning like a ghost. She didn't look back. Her fingers touched her stomach — not for the first time — as she whispered, I'm sorry. He can’t know.
