Scarlett – POV
“You’re not wearing that.”
Dominic’s voice sliced through the silence like a blade.
Scarlett stood in front of the mirror in his penthouse bedroom, adjusting the soft red silk dress that hugged every curve.
She blinked. “Excuse me?”
He stepped into the room, crisp in a black shirt, sleeves rolled, collar open — dangerous and polished.
“That dress is too short.”
She turned, fire in her eyes. “You bought it.”
“I didn’t know you’d wear it outside.”
She crossed her arms. “This is exactly the kind of controlling bullshit I hate.”
He moved closer. “You’re pregnant, Scarlett.”
“And not your prisoner.”
His gaze dropped to her legs, the exposed line of her collarbone. When he looked back at her, something possessive flickered in his eyes.
“You’ll wear something else.”
“And if I don’t?”
He paused. Stepped into her space. His voice lowered.
“I’ll tear it off.”
Her breath caught.
And just like that… her pulse betrayed her.

Dominic – POV
She didn’t understand the chaos she caused.
The second she stepped out of that bedroom, he knew it would be war.
Every man at that gala—every client at that restaurant—hell, even the damn chauffeur—would look at her and forget their names.
And she was his.
Even if she didn’t admit it yet.
Even if they still fought like enemies in a losing war.
He didn’t want to control her.
But he couldn’t bear the thought of her being touched, even with their eyes.
Especially not tonight.
Not when he’d just found out he was going to be a father.
---
Scarlett – POV
Dinner was an awkward affair.
They barely spoke.
The restaurant was luxurious—soft jazz, wine glasses, candlelight flickering between them. But tension sat heavier than any chandelier.
She could feel eyes on her from every corner of the room. Not just because of Dominic’s status—but because of him.
Liam.
Her ex-fiancé.
He’d just walked in.
With a tall blonde on his arm and a devil’s grin that had haunted her for years.
Dominic noticed instantly.
“Friend of yours?” he asked, voice calm but cold.
Scarlett swallowed hard. “Used to be.”
Dominic leaned forward. “Define used to.”
She took a sip of water. “We were engaged. Years ago.”
Dominic’s eyes darkened.
“Was he before or after me?”
Scarlett looked away.
“Before,” she said softly. “Barely.”
---
Dominic – POV
He hated this feeling.
Not jealousy.
Rage.
That another man had touched her.
Had once promised her a forever he never earned.
Liam made his way to their table, as bold as ever.
“Scarlett,” he said smoothly, ignoring Dominic completely. “Long time no see.”
She smiled politely. “Hello, Liam.”
“And Dominic Blackthorn,” Liam added, finally acknowledging him. “Heard you two were… married.”
Dominic stood up slowly, towering over him. “We are.”
Liam glanced at Scarlett’s stomach — still flat, but Dominic saw it. The calculating flicker.
“Well then,” Liam said with a smirk, “guess congratulations are in order.”
Dominic didn’t smile. “They are.”
Liam nodded, then leaned closer than necessary to Scarlett. “You look… glowing.”
Dominic didn’t hesitate.
He stepped between them. One hand behind Scarlett’s chair. One hand on Liam’s shoulder.
“Touch her again,” Dominic said low, “and you’ll find out just how fast I can ruin your career.”
Liam stiffened.
Then smirked.
Then walked away.
Scarlett whispered, “That wasn’t necessary.”
“It was,” Dominic said. “And you know it.”

Later – Back at the Penthouse
Scarlett stormed into the bedroom.
“You embarrassed me.”
“He touched you.”
“He said hi.”
“He looked at you like he still had a right.”
She spun. “You don’t own me!”
Dominic’s jaw tensed.
“You’re carrying my child.”
“That doesn’t mean you control my past.”
“No,” he said, stepping closer, “but I damn well control your future.”
She gasped.
“Dominic—”
“You still love him?”
Her eyes widened. “What?”
“Do you still love him?” he growled.
“No! God, no!”
“Then why are you so defensive?”
“Because I don’t need you to fight my battles.”
He was inches away now.
“You fight me. But not him.”
“I fight you,” she whispered, “because you get under my skin.”
Their breathing grew heavy.
“Because you scare me.”
He reached for her.
“Because I want you.”
---
Dominic – POV
Her words shattered his control.
He backed her into the bedpost, his hand in her hair, pulling her mouth to his.
There was no time for slow.
He wanted to erase every trace of Liam from her memory.
He wanted her begging, shaking, crying his name.
And so he kissed her like he was drowning and she was air.
---
Scarlett – POV
She didn’t resist.
She couldn’t.
His mouth devoured her, his hands tugging the red dress off her shoulders, silk falling like petals to the floor.
“Ah—Dominic—”
“Say it again.”
“Please—”
“No. Say what you said.”
“I want you.”
He growled against her skin.
“You’re mine.”
He lifted her, tossed her on the bed, and crawled over her like a storm.
Her legs wrapped around him instantly. Their bodies collided, grinding, gasping, desperate.
She cried out when he entered her—deep, slow, claiming.
His mouth moved down her throat, her chest, her stomach.
He paused over her belly.
His hand splayed wide over the spot.
And when he looked at her again—his eyes were softer.
“Tell me again,” he whispered.
“I want you,” she breathed. “I’m yours.”
