You Can’t Run From This

Scarlett – POV Sunlight slipped in through the tall, expensive windows of the penthouse, brushing across her bare shoulders like a whisper of regret. Scarlett sat still at the edge of the massive bed, one hand clutching the sheet to her chest, the other resting lightly over her stomach. Her legs still trembled. Her throat burned. Her body ached in the worst and most intoxicating ways. She should’ve left hours ago. Last night wasn’t supposed to happen. It wasn’t love. It wasn’t closure. It was heat. It was weakness. It was Dominic. And he was still asleep in the bed behind her. She let her fingers trail lightly along her thighs, where his hands had gripped her. Bruises bloomed there now — reminders of how hard she’d begged, how deep he’d taken her. How easy it had been to lose herself to the man she swore she’d never touch again. Her panties were missing. Her dress was tossed over the chair. Her pride? Gone. She stood slowly, careful not to let the mattress creak, and began to dress. The silk clung to her damp skin. The zipper refused to behave. Her body was marked — not with love, but with possession. And still, part of her… wanted more. She grabbed her heels, tiptoed to the door— “You really thought you’d get away that easily?” His voice. Deep. Slow. Dominant. Scarlett froze. She turned, heart slamming against her ribs. Dominic was awake — wide awake — sitting against the headboard, a sheet barely covering his hips, his bare chest golden in the morning light. Eyes sharp, jaw clenched. He looked dangerous. And too damn good. Her voice cracked. “I didn’t mean to—” “You meant every damn second of it,” he growled, tossing the sheet aside and rising. She spun around, trying not to look, but she caught it anyway — the curve of his abs, the trail of muscle leading down, the cocky arrogance in every step he took. “I shouldn’t have come here,” she whispered. “But you did.” He closed the distance, standing inches behind her. His body heat poured over her back like fire. “You begged for me last night, Scarlett,” he murmured into her hair. “Moaned my name like you never stopped wanting me.” “That was a mistake.” “Was it?” His hand slid to her waist. “Then why are you still trembling?” “I’m not,” she lied. “You are.” His palm moved down, gripping her hip. She gasped. “Ahh… Dominic—don’t—” “Don’t what?” he whispered against her ear. “Touch you like this?” He turned her around, pressing her against the door. One knee slid between hers, parting her legs just slightly. His mouth hovered over hers. “I hate you,” she said, voice shaking. “Then push me away.” She didn’t. His lips crashed into hers — not gently, not kindly. Like a storm. Like a war. Scarlett moaned against him, her hands fisting into his hair. His tongue claimed her mouth, his hand sliding under her dress, gripping the thigh he marked last night. “You’re mine,” he growled. “I’m not.” “Say it again. Say it while I make you fall apart.” His fingers slid between her thighs. She gasped — wet already. “Hah… yes…” she moaned before she could stop herself. “That’s what I thought,” he whispered, dragging his mouth down her neck. His hands pushed the dress up. Her back hit the door hard. Her legs wrapped around his waist. She should’ve stopped him. But she didn’t want to. --- Dominic – POV She still fit against him like sin. Like memory. Like addiction. Dominic didn’t want to feel anything. But he did. He wanted to mark her again, deeper this time. Not just her body. Her heart. Her future. Last night wasn’t enough. One night was a joke. He needed more. He lifted her easily, grinding her against the wall, his mouth claiming every inch of skin she exposed. Her moans were breathy, defiant, cracked with need. “Ahh… you’re going to make me—” “Good,” he growled. “Let me feel it.” He dropped to his knees, pulled her panties down — she was soaked. She grabbed his shoulders. “Dominic—wait—someone might hear—” “Then let them.” He buried his tongue between her thighs, devouring her like he owned her. She cried out, hand slapping the wall. “God—yes—right there—hah—don’t stop—” She bucked against his mouth, moaning, hips grinding. He growled against her heat, sending vibration through her core. Her legs shook violently when she came, eyes rolling back. He stood, took her mouth again in a bruising kiss, and unzipped his pants. “Ready?” he whispered. “No—yes—I don’t know—” “Too late.” He slammed into her with one hard thrust. She gasped, legs tightening around him. “Why do you still make me feel like this?” she moaned. “Because I’m the only one who ever touched you like this.” He drove into her again and again, each thrust deep and rough, her cries swallowed into his mouth. Their rhythm was filthy, fast, desperate. “Ahh—Dominic—more—don’t stop—yes—” He held her tighter, f*****g her against the door like the world was ending. It wasn’t just lust. It was war. And she surrendered first. Her second orgasm hit hard, leaving her limp, broken in his arms. He came a moment later, growling her name against her throat. They stood like that for a while. Sweating. Breathing hard. Not speaking. He wanted to say something. He didn’t. He was afraid it would sound too much like I never stopped needing you. --- Scarlett – POV She left him asleep again. After everything. After the way he made her body betray her, again and again. She couldn’t stay. She had a secret to protect. A truth she couldn’t risk exposing. Scarlett touched her stomach softly. Not showing yet. Not for another few weeks. But soon. And when that time came, Dominic could never find out. He couldn’t know what he left behind five years ago — or what he’d just created again last night. Because this time, she wouldn’t survive it. --- Dominic – POV When he woke and found her gone again, his first instinct was fury. The second? Obsession. She thought she could walk away again? Not this time. Not after last night. Not after he touched her like that. Not after she screamed his name and begged him to hold her like she’d never begged anyone before. He wasn’t just going to find her. He was going to take her back. And this time? She wouldn't leave unless she crawled.
