"I demand to speak with detective Smith right now!" The officer before Chloe gulped at her fierceness. There was a fire in her eyes and the officer did not decline her request. "Yes ma'am." He nodded and dialed the detective's office number. "Smith." The voice said. "Um, detective Smith, there's a woman out there demanding to see you, she's really scary." He said that the last part was really quiet, Chloe didn't hear. Detective Smith chuckled, "You're an officer for a reason." "I know, but she's really really scary, come and tame her please." While the officer spoke to detective Smith on the phone, Chloe took a minute to regret her actions last night while remembering how she spent the night with that strange man. "Let's get out of here," the man had said and Chloe didn't hesitate to follow him. As they walked down the quiet street, Chloe could feel her heart beating faster with every step they took. The man had a mysterious aura around him, and Chloe couldn't help but feel drawn to him. She could feel the chemistry between them and she knew that she wanted him. They arrived at an old, abandoned house and the man led her inside. The place was dark and eerie, with the only light coming from the moon shining through the windows. Chloe felt a shiver run down her spine. The man turned to her and said, "Are you ready?" Chloe nodded, and the man pulled her towards him, kissing her fiercely. Chloe could feel the passion between them, and she let herself get lost in the moment. But now, as she stood before detective Smith, she couldn't shake the feeling of regret. She had made a mistake, and she knew it. She just hoped that the detective could help her fix it by relieving her guilt by telling her they have found a suspect about her boyfriend's murder. "Ms. Chloe." Detective Smith Quinton exclaimed with a huge smile on his face. He held his hands out to hug her because she looked like she needed it. Chloe heaved a sigh of relief, "Oh thank God detective Smith, please tell me something good." Chloe pulled away from the hug and looked into the detective's eyes. Quintin looked around, before pulling her in the direction of his office, "Come on." Chloe reluctantly followed him, "Have you found something?" She asked again. It was Quinton's turn to sigh in exasperation, "I'm afraid not, Ms. Chloe, everything we got seemed like a dead end, do you have any of his family's contact information? We could start from there." Quinton questioned. Chloe thought for a moment before shaking her head, "No, I don't have any contact information for his family. He never really spoke about them." Quinton frowned, "Okay, well, we'll just have to keep digging then. In the meantime, I want you to focus on taking care of yourself, Chloe. You've been through a lot." Chloe nodded, "Thank you, detective. I really appreciate everything you're doing." Quinton smiled reassuringly, "Of course, Chloe. We'll find who did this, I promise you that." Chloe left the detective's office with a heavy heart, still feeling the weight of her guilt and regret over her actions with the mysterious man. Before she could walk out of the police station, she got called back, "Chloe!" Detective Smith's voice rang through the place, halting Chloe in her steps. She turned back, "Yes detective?" She answered. "I was about to get coffee, do you wanna come with me? You look like you could really use a coffee right now." Quintin noted, pointing to the bags under her eyes. Since the incident, Chloe has never been able to sleep a wink. Chloe nodded and followed Quintin to the small coffee shop across the street. The warm aroma of freshly brewed coffee and pastries enveloped them as they made their way to the counter. Quintin ordered two cups of coffee and a croissant, and Chloe gratefully accepted the offer, feeling the warmth of the mug in her hands. As they sat down at a small table near the window, Chloe couldn't help but feel grateful for Quintin's kindness. He had been the only one who had believed her innocence from the beginning, and had been working tirelessly to find the real culprit. "Thank you, detective," Chloe said, taking a sip of her coffee. Quintin smiled, "No need to thank me, Chloe. It's my job to make sure justice is served." Chloe nodded, feeling a surge of gratitude towards him. As they sat in comfortable silence, Chloe felt a sense of peace wash over her. For the first time since the incident, Chloe felt like everything was going to be okay. She knew that it was going to be a long road to recovery, but with Quintin by her side, she felt like she could face anything. As they finished their coffee and croissant, Quintin stood up and gestured for Chloe to follow him. "We have one more stop to make before we head back to the station," he said. Chloe followed Quintin out of the coffee shop and down the street. As they walked, Chloe couldn't help but feel curious about where they were going. Finally, they arrived at a small park on the outskirts of town. Quintin led Chloe to a bench and sat down next to her. "I come here when I need a break from the chaos of the city," he said, gesturing to the peaceful surroundings. "It helps me clear my head and think more clearly." Chloe looked around, taking in the serene beauty of the park. She couldn't help but feel grateful for Quinton. "Thank you detective." She nodded and sat down to enjoy the serenity, but as they say in silence, a violence unfolds before them. A man was being beaten to a pulp, his white shirt was soaked in blood, but the assailant has no intention of stopping with the look in his eyes. Being a detective, Quinton couldn't just sit still and watch, he had to intervene. Without a moment's hesitation, Quinton jumped up from the bench and sprinted towards the altercation. Chloe followed close behind him, her heart beating faster with each step. As they reached the scene, Chloe's eyes widened in horror. The man lying on the ground was barely conscious and the assailant was still landing heavy blows on him. Quinton didn't waste any time. He charged at the attacker and tackled him to the ground. The assailant struggled against Quinton's grip, but he was no match for the detective's strength. Chloe watched in awe as Quinton subdued the attacker and handcuffed him. "Are you okay?" he asked the victim, helping him to his feet. The man groaned in pain, clutching his ribs. "I'll be alright," he managed to say through gritted teeth. "Thanks to you." Quinton nodded, leading the victim away from the scene. Chloe followed a few steps behind, her heart still beating fast as images of Joseph lying in his own blood flashed before her eyes and she started to hyperventilate. Her breath came out and she fell to the ground. Meanwhile, Quinton's face hardened, "I understand your pain, but this is not the way to handle it. You need to let the justice system do its job." He told the assaulter. The attacker glared at Quinton, but slowly backed away, his fists still clenched in anger. Quinton turned to Chloe, "Call for backup and an ambulance. We need to get this man to the hospital." That was when he noticed how her breathing was labored. "Chloe!" Quinton screamed her name, he didn't want to leave the man in his hold, he could return to his violent tendency and he couldn't have that. The assaulted man showed the scene before him, so he decided to help. He moved closer to Chloe, despite the blood on his shirt. He had been able to calm himself after the beating he received. "Miss, I need you to breathe with me." As he said that, he took a close look at Chloe. Realization crossed his features, but he didn't abandon the task at hand. "In." He instructed and breathed in himself, "Out. That's it." He then brought her close to his chest. Chloe hugged him back, then realization hit her too. "You're him, you're the man." She said, before passing out from exhaustion. "Chloe!!!" Quinton screamed.
