The five of them stood in another alleyway. The smell of burning things was thick in the air. “What is it with us and these damned alleys. Just once I’d like to port into a nice hotel room or something,” Jessica said.
“It’s the easiest way to go places. No one looks here,” Renee replied. Will nodded.
“Alright, fair enough but what’s the plan?” Dave asked.
Will shrugged. “Simple. We get these idiots to charge into a portal that leads off world,” Will said. Renee looked at him. “Alright, two things. One, I can make the portal where they are. Two, how far are we talking here?” Renee asked.
Will hadn’t thought about it, none of them had. “As far as you can get it, of course, there’s no limit. I’m hoping if they die far enough away the beams won’t make it back here,” Will said.
