My teeth clenched and there was a silence in the room as I grappled to take in Lydia's words. 'So Dera has been lying to me all this while? How long is it since she could walk?' I thought, with disappointment creeping into me. It was logical all along. Dera's refusal to be treated by experts who could heal her legs. The way she insisted on always being treated by her physiotherapist and no one else. In my subconscious mind, I had felt something was not right. Even if she would not listen to me, Dera came from a wealthy family and they would never hesitate to arrange for expert doctors who could get her walking again. But I was unable to confront her directly because she got hurt because of me. it would appear that I was ungrateful if I suspected something. Who knew she's been lying to
