Jade’s POV
Dust Particle’s get kicked up in the air as the library door is thrust open. The bell chimes and I turn to welcome whoever has come to visit my world of words and cracked leather, when the most amazing smell collides with my senses. Instantly I close my eyes and turn my nose to the air, this smell is intoxicating. Cedar and honey.
As I open my eyes, my wolf slams forward taking my breath away. “Mate” She calls. Mate? My Mate? Where? I spin towards the door, but there seems to be nobody there. I sniff the air, the honey drenched smell still wafts towards me. I have to find the source, I start wandering through the stacks searching high and low, when a pair of honey brown eyes meet mine between the shelves.
“H-hi” I stutter. Hi? Really that’s all I have to say? I’ve only daydreamed about this moment non-stop for a decade, and all I have to say is a stupid two letter word? Seriously Jade words are your thing, you could have at least said something more poetic. I come out of my trance of overthinking only to realize those amber eyes are gone. Oh great he probably left and thinks I’m stupid, he’ll reject us for sure.
“Way to go Jade” I mumble under my breath. I turn to go back to my desk when I run face first into a boulder, or at least that’s what it felt like, I stumble back holding my nose. “Ow” I say in a nasally tone. Warm hands graze mine, and pull them away from my nose. I look up and into the most beautiful eyes to ever exist.
I originally thought of them as honey but I was wrong, they are like God took a field of wheat and poured a river of liquid gold straight down the middle. They are almost feline like. “Are you okay?” Now that, is made of honey, his voice is deep and rich and I wish I could drown in it. His baritone voice hits me straight in the heart, and my wolf sighs, “Mate”.
“Jade wake up your mate is talking to you!” my wolf whines. “I’m fine.” I say noticing I’m still staring, so I drop my gaze as my neck burns a deep crimson.
Aaron’s POV
“Aaron!” The Alpha’s voice penetrates my thoughts, making me grimace from the volume of his irritation. “Bring me those files by noon, or else I’ll have you serving with the Omegas.” I inwardly roll my eyes, “Yes sir.” I say in the most polite tone I can muster.
I pick up my pace a bit as I head out the back door of the pack house, winding through the previous Luna’s rose garden. I reach the back gate and head through the forest.
While rushing to the pack library to retrieve some files and records for Alpha Evan, my heart starts to race. “Faster” my wolf demands. “Why?” I ask him “You’ll see, now faster!” He can be so pushy, and almost against my will, my stride becomes hastened. I take the library steps two at a time and pause with my hand over the ancient brass door handle.
I inhale, and the scent of fresh linen and dried lavender brush past me. Sweet. Perfect. Delicious. I fling open the library door and my every nerve is assaulted with euphoria as my wolf’s voice rumbles “Mate” I’m taken a back and completely shocked. “Find her” My wolf says bringing me back to the task at hand, find the owner of that absolutely delicious scent and make her mine.
I turn to my left and start combing the rows upon rows of books for my mate. I’m getting closer and my heart is about ready to come flying out of my chest as my feet grind to a halt.
There she is on the other side of the shelf to my left, I look through the books and see a head full of flowing auburn curls. The afternoon sun filtering in through the floor to ceiling windows on the other side of the room cast a halo of fire on the crown of her head.
She’s getting closer and I can’t seem to remember how the body gets oxygen to the brain. The dust floating through the air moves in slow motion as she spins towards me, green, her eyes, they have to be the most piercing shade of green I have ever seen, I didn’t even know a color like that could exist.
I move closer to the books and peer through the other side to look at her. She seems to be looking for something intently as she crouches low then stands on her tip toes looking through every section of books, she turns towards me and our eye’s lock. “Mate!” My wolf shouts. I’ve found her. The owner of that mouthwatering sweet scent, is right in front of me and she’s beautiful.
“H-hi” she stammers. Her voice is like silk, smooth and light. She seems to get lost in thought as we continue to stare at each other and she’s biting the inside of her cheek as she thinks and it’s so damn cute it’s driving me crazy, I have to get closer. I rush around to the other side of the shelf and then I get to her, she’s still staring in the direction of where I came from, I don’t think she has realized I am standing beside her when she mumbles to herself, “Way to go Jade.”
Jade. It’s perfect. I go to tell her so when she turn’s and runs face first into my chest. She staggers back cupping her nose with her soft creamy white hands, I wonder what it would be like to hold them. “Ow” Jade wheezes as she looks up into my eyes.
I’m suddenly very worried for the well-being of that perfect button nose, and I reach out and pull her hands away from her face. “Are you okay?” I ask and she just blinks up at me as she says “I’m Fine”, and then turns away with a blush rushing from her neck to her face. I smirk at her shyness. “My name’s Aaron Stone, It’s nice to finally meet you Jade.”
