She settled down quickly, and half hour later, we reached my barn. Once more, she spied horses in the field and whinnied to them. Josie talked soothingly to her while I quickly closed up a stall for us to put the mare in. Nonette backed out with speed when we finally opened up the back ramp, and fairly dragged me into the barn. I removed her halter and closed the door before fetching fresh hay and some low-fat feed for her. She drank thirstily from the full water bucket and thrust her muzzle into the trough.
