where her faith keeps growing, her daughter slowly starts to change, and something miraculous happens that shows them both how real God’s love is?where Lacey’s new life blooms, her children find their own paths of faith, and she discovers the deeper purpose God had been preparing her for all along?where Lacey begins her new chapter, her children flourish in faith, and she discovers love again, this time the way God intended: gentle, patient, and real?where Lacey’s children grow up and continue spreading the faith and love their mother taught them, showing how one woman’s courage changed generations?

I also dedicate this novel, my first novel to Sister Natsha Jones. She has brought me to those open doors and she pushing me makes me want to be apart of it. God sent her to be my angel I'm sure of it. I love you so much and thank you.

she wonders into some open doors called by something
The Open Door Lacey had spent years searching for something— something she couldn’t quite name. Her days blurred together: work, worry, and whispers of what life could’ve been. She wanted her life to mean something again, to feel moments that mattered. But she didn’t know where to start. One rainy afternoon, as she walked aimlessly down a quiet street, her thoughts tangled with old hurts, she tripped on a c***k in the sidewalk and stumbled— right in front of an old church with its doors wide open. The sound of soft singing drifted out, gentle and welcoming. Something about it made her stop. She could’ve kept walking. But her feet, almost on their own, carried her inside. The warm light of candles flickered along the walls. Families, strangers, and tired souls like her sat scattered in the pews. She slipped into the back row, heart pounding, not sure why tears had already started falling. The pastor spoke about healing— about how God doesn’t wait for you to be perfect to start working in your life. He meets you where you are. By the end of the service, Lacey’s heart felt… lighter. Like someone had lifted the weight she’d carried for years. She knew then—it was time to change. Time to heal her faith, her trust, and her life. The hardest part wasn’t faith—it was what came after. Her boyfriend didn’t believe in God. He mocked the church and the people who went, calling them “holy rollers” and “fools chasing fairy tales.” He was cruel with his words, controlling with his moods, and she’d lived too long believing she deserved it. But this time, Lacey had a new strength inside her. She started praying in secret. Reading scripture at night. Talking to God like He was the only one who’d ever really listened. And then—she began teaching her children. Little by little, she told them about love that never fails, about a Savior who forgives, and a hope that lives even in the darkest moments. Her younger children listened wide-eyed, asking questions, singing softly with her at bedtime prayers. But her oldest daughter, angry and guarded, resisted. She rolled her eyes, muttered under her breath, and blamed her mother for things she didn’t yet understand. Lacey didn’t scold her—she just kept praying. She knew God was working even when she couldn’t see it. And every day she rose with purpose— to raise her babies in light, to rebuild what had been broken, and to love herself as God already did. Because one fall had led her to an open door— and that open door had led her home.
