The next morning comes and it’s time to make my way home. Asher grabs my suit case and put it in the trunk for me. “Thank you. I’ll see you soon.” I say to him. “See you soon, have a safe drive, call me when you get there.” He says to me. I give him a kiss and get in my car. I start the long drive home. After while I finally pull into my driveway of our home and I look at it with appreciation. Nothing is quite like being home. I grab my suit case out of my trunk and hurry up to the front steps to our house and pull the front door open. Inside standing there is my mom and dad waiting for me while chatting, getting lunch prepped. I run over to them and give them the biggest hugs, it feels like forever since I’ve seen them. I really have missed them so much. “Hey my little croissant! I’m so happy you’re here.” My dads says as he hugs me tight and kisses the top of my head. “We didn’t think you’d be here so soon, you must’ve raced here.” Says my mom while laughing into our hug. “I couldn’t wait any longer, I had to just get here already.” I say to her. “Well we’re glad you did sweetheart.” Says my mom. We make our way into the kitchen and dad says to me, “why don’t we make our famous chocolate milkshakes?!” I laugh and say “of course, I’ve been thinking about them the whole way here.” We get to making our milkshakes when I notice a red envelope sitting on the counter addressed to our family. I flip it over and it is from the pack house. I ask my parents, “What is this?” “It’s an invite to the winter ball this year, at the pack house. It’s next week.” Says my dad. “I think you should definitely come with us, it would be nice to see everyone again, don’t you think?” Asks my mom. “Yeah, I think that would be nice.” I say. I haven’t seen anyone from the pack in so long, I’m not even sure if they would remember me still. I’ll call Alex and see if she’s going, her parents live in the pack so I’m sure she’s coming home for Christmas break also. After our milkshakes and lunch I head up to my old room and put my bag down, flopping onto my bed. My favorite white fluffy comforter was freshly washed and placed on my bed by my wonderful mother. I missed this room. I pull out my phone and dial Alex. Ring Ring… “Hey girl, whats up?” She says as she answers the phone. “Hey, are you back in town yet?” I ask her. “Not yet, I should be tomorrow afternoon though. Have you made it yet?” “Yeah I got here this morning, I’ve spent the day just relaxing with my parents. Silas should be coming over for dinner soon too.” I tell her. “Oh Lala.” She says. “Gross Alex.” I say as we both laugh into the phone. “My mom said the winter ball is coming up soon, are you gonna go to it?” I ask her. “Of course I am! I wouldn’t miss the perfect time to get all dolled up.” She says. I laugh again at my best friend, thinking of how much I miss her craziness. “Okay good, call me when you get in tomorrow.” I tell her and we hang up the phone. I can’t wait to see her. I head into the bathroom to take a hot shower and get ready for bed when I get that terrible ache in my chest again, but this time its much worse. I try to shake it off and enjoy the hot shower. After I get out I put my pajamas on and decide to call Asher and see what he’s up to. Ring Ring… “Hey beautiful, whats up?” Say Asher over the phone. “Not much, just got out of the shower and about to get ready for bed. I figured I would check in with you and see what you were up to. Make sure you weren’t missing me too much already.” I say as I giggle. “Oh you already know that, I miss you more than you know.” He says to me. “I know, I miss you too. We’re going to the winter ball next week and ill be home after.” “Sounds good to me, can’t wait to see you.” “I’ll call you tomorrow, I’m gonna get some rest I’m exhausted.” “Okay, sleep well. Goodnight.” He says to me and we hang up the phone. I put my phone down on my side table and drift off to bed.
