Chapter 4

753 Words
Surprisingly, Alex didn't clean up afterwards, which was a miracle. Leon suspected that it was his mother who had persuaded Alex to give up. Because Leon received a message from his mother in the morning, "Lee will pick you up at 10 o'clock." This was the usual clean and neat message. While eating the breakfast prepared by Wendy, Leon thought heavily about when his parents would finally have a proper divorce so that he wouldn't have to deal with their constant battles over business matters. It was always so tiring for him to be treated like an object, constantly fought over and tossed aside. It was frustrating. However, in the midst of their conflict, he gained some benefits, such as unlimited pocket money and a relaxed job. Thinking about these two things, Leon's heart eased a bit. Let him be treated like an object, as long as the second-generation wealthy worm was happy. Leon's mother had bought a large flat on the city center, which took about 20 minutes to reach by elevator. The advantage was that it provided a 360-degree panoramic view of the city, even making people without depression feel depressed, but at least they couldn't jump off the building. After Lee dropped off Leon downstairs, Leon turned around and ran in the opposite direction as soon as the car left. Even his toes knew that his mother wasn't home again. As soon as he entered, it was an empty house and the unchanging lake view, which was not enough to upset him yet. While walking, he messaged a few of his buddies, but there was no response for a while. Just as Leon was about to curse, he checked the time and stopped. No wonder, it was only 11 o'clock, who could be awake by this time? Leon wasn't in a hurry anymore, leisurely strolling around the lake. Suddenly, he remembered that he had left his car where they had eaten last night and didn't drive it yet. He jogged onto the main road, ready to hail a taxi again. Unexpectedly, before he could catch a cab, a horn sounded behind him. Leon instinctively turned around and saw Oreo, the black and white dog, sticking its long tongue out from the passenger seat. A hint of surprise flashed in Leon's eyes, and he quickly walked towards the car. Oliver poked his head out and called with a smile, "Leon, get in the car." Leon suddenly stopped, no longer finding Oreo cute, and wrinkled his brow before turning around to leave. Seeing this, Oliver wasn't annoyed either. He let Leon walk ahead while he slowly followed behind. Oreo barked wildly, clinging to the window, wanting to jump out. Leon had been glancing in their direction all along. When he saw Oreo suddenly stop, Oliver also immediately stopped the car. He tapped his fingers on the steering wheel and waited for Leon to open the car door. Sure enough, a few seconds later, Leon, with an expression of being defeated, opened the car door and sat in the back seat. Oliver saw him stealing glances at him through the rearview mirror, and a smile crept up at the corner of his mouth. He knew success was within reach. "Leon, where are you planning to go? Can I give you a ride?" Oliver asked. "Don't call me Leon, we're not that familiar." Leon replied impatiently. "Oh, then may I ask Mr. Wood where you're planning to go?" Oliver didn't mind and patiently changed his title. He had a warm smile on his face. Upon hearing this title, Leon's heart skipped a beat. He remembered how Oliver used to introduce him to others in Oland with a smile, looking at him affectionately and saying, "This person here, this is Mr. Wood from my family." Leon raised his gaze and saw Oliver smiling warmly at him through the rearview mirror, clearly intentionally reminding him of that past. Leon felt annoyed. Couldn't this person be a bit less scheming and more straightforward? Seeing that Leon's face was filled with displeasure, Oliver quickly stopped smiling. Leon walked ahead, and he followed slowly behind. Oreo kept barking loudly, but Leon showed no intention of turning back. Oliver watched Leon's stubborn figure in silence and let out a long sigh. He turned his head to Oreo and said, "Oreo, Daddy is really angry this time. He doesn't want us anymore. You have to try harder... Otherwise, I'll have to threaten him by turning you into a hotpot..." Oreo: "Meow?"
