Chapter 1
Prologue on Planet Helios: There is an alien race in a galaxy far from Earth with a problem of its own that led them to search for human life on other planets restlessly. "This planet called Earth has humans!" One of the alien workers shouted, drawing the attention of others. Everyone in the central center stopped what they were doing and turn their attention to him. "Pull up everything we can gather about Earth." Their leader Boman demanded. "Copy that, sir." "Access their satellite images too. Hack all their systems." He nodded and logged in to access Earth's restricted data, and instantly their HDVR-435 Mastercam screen technology reveals everything about Earth. It's species, its age, atmosphere, climate, its hardships, and flaws. It seemed they were going through dark times. Unlike planet Helios, Earth lacked unity, resources, advanced technology like theirs. They had homeless people, corrupt governments, rich people getting richer while the poor suffered, overpopulation, division, the list of bad things happening could go on. It wasn't like that on Helios. Earth needs us as much as we need them. Boman thought to himself. "Interesting. Emphasize their anatomy and cell structure." "Right away, Sir." "They are human. Their chromosomes and reproductive system match with ours." Boman worker points out. "Is this our salvation?" Another of his workers is seen rejoicing already. "It appears so." He replies with a grin knowing their search might have finally paid off. "We should contact them. Obviously, this has to be a sign." "Sir, should we make contact with them?" The worker continued. "Not yet." "But sir-" Boman interrupted him. "We will start with phase one of our plans and observe them first. I want to know them better than they know themselves. They don't look like they will accept our terms this easily and with good reason." They continued to observe Earth for months. Then, they started sending messages to different countries, but they didn't seem to be interested in colliding. To this day, they haven't reached back. "It's time for phase three." We need to approach them quickly. We are running out of time. Boman kept thinking about what this implied, but there was no other solution. If they didn't do this, Helians would face the consequences of their actions and face the beginning of extinction. * Planet Earth: There used to be much love and abundance among the people of Barawa. Laughter and happiness never seemed to elude them, but it is now an impoverished remote village on Earth located in Somali. It used to be known for its monotonous and straightforward living because they used to be almost as leisurely as they are diligent and were at peace until disaster decided to strike. This small area is now one of the few research sites in the world where the medical trials for a global pandemic are in place. Since the inception of Barawa and all its people, such a strange illness had never overtaken the land. It was a global strike and a crisis of nature. The crops that served as Earth's primary sources for food got infested first and mutated into a strange disease that seems to have no cure. The infectious viral disease by the name of Cilomina is killing everyone on Earth mercilessly. It struck them hard. Other communities already have the killer virus, so surrounding towns and villages maintain their distance. They sold everything they owned for the trials for the cure and became a village of independent people with a ceremonial clan leader commonly referred to as a Sultan. Most Barawans are farmers and live a balanced life. Men see to the camels, horses, and cattle, and all valuable animals to the Barawans. As for the women and younger boys, they tend chickens, sheep, and goats. Their homes are not what they used to be and are now wood-made cottages, and amongst them, some movable tents that are easy to break down and reassemble. If they want to move their home from a place they can,  on a camel or horse's back. Surrounding villages never talk to each other, yet a great part of their country counted on the Barawans to find the cure, and it has taken them too long. Communities that are Cilomina-free do not want to have anything to do with the outside world. The fear of Cilomina keeps people from taking such risks as approaching their neighbors. Everyone in this part of the world is very protective of their respective families. They are always guarding their territory, seeing to it that no harm befalls their household. They are malicious and vicious in character for no particular reason. They welcome no visitor unless it's for trial purposes. Dr. Adler, the village's top virologist, is currently in a dilemma about what to do with this situation. He's a virologist vast in his professional field, and every day he goes to his lab, seeking a cure, studying samples of the infected. He would've liked to have time to seek the help of other doctors. But there are many sick people here he needs to tend to as much as experiment with their blood samples to find the cure. With mixed feelings, he gets a few things ready to be on his way out. "Father, where are you going?" Alyssa, his eighteen-year-old daughter, stared at him curiously. She is sitting on a low stool weaving an embroidery as she always does after she is done with house chores and going on errands for her father. Just like Dr. Adler, she is determined and courageous in everything she does. She looks up to her father as her role model. "I need to see the sick boy," Dr. Arden replied briefly. Alyssa couldn't see the answer to her question. "Can I go with you?" She asks almost in a whisper. "It's too dangerous. You could get exposed." "But I've been taking the tincture. I'll be cautious and keep my distance." "You promise?" "Cross my heart." "Well... I can make do with a little motivation," he had a wry smile on his face. "Alright, then. What are we taking along?" She grabs her shoes from under the bed with so much enthusiasm. "I don't want to see any more people die. I hope the tincture proves effective." "I am always hoping for the best, but until I can find the cure or how to make my tincture into a cure, it can only reduce the pain the sick are feeling and slow down the rate of the illness. For the ones that are not sick, its chances of helping against immunity vary." "It's still something. I've been taking it, and I'm not sick." "Which is why I'd like to keep you away and close." "Don't worry about me, father. We will find a solution," Alyssa encouraged. "You remind me so much of your mother. Your words are a comfort to me always," Dr. Adler hoped a cure would come up soon before the whole of Barawa is wiped out. "I can only hope you find love as I did with your mother." "There isn't much time for that right now." "What about the boys that always come around here trying to catch your eye?" "Not interested in any of them." "You must make time for all things in life, Alyssa. Someday I won't be here, and I'd like you to be taken care of." "That someday will come, but for now, it can wait. Okay?" Her thoughts dwelled on the men in her village. They didn't interest her the slightest. They wanted a woman to burst up their ego. She wanted a man who was faithful, loyal to her, and a lover of kids. She always envisioned a man that would have time for his kids and wife. She wanted a man that loved her for who she was on the inside and not just her body. The Barawans interested in her didn't think about that, especially with everyone feeling like the world was ending. Because it was.  "You know I will always support your decisions, right?" "I yours too." "Good. Let's get going." Her father started to get the things they needed, and Alyssa followed behind him.
