"Hello," I answered the call that came in around 11 p.m. Winnie had left a while ago.
"Are you done with work yet?" The voice on the other end asked in a deep, warm tone, making me grimace immediately.
"Not yet, it'll be a while," I replied that way because I was too lazy to talk, just wanted an excuse to hang up quickly.
"Oh, then I won't bother you. Go on with your work."
"Alright, talk to you later then."
"Alright, hey Mandy, I'll come back late so I won't disturb you. If you can't handle it, take a break, don't push yourself."
