"I can't let you do this," I say to Sloan, as soon as we make it into our hotel room.

"Yes, I am," he says, crossing the room and pulling me into his arms. He meets my eyes intensely, making my breath catch. "Don't try and push me away now. Please. Just let me be there for you.
