Nathan POV
We have been here for the last two days and are getting ready to leave soon. We will meet with Murphy one last time to plan the rescue. Rescuing Remi isn't going to be easy. Cameras heavily monitor the town and the pack house.
Then there is the problem of getting to Remi. The good news is that there are only one pair of sensors around Remi's window on the outside. The bad news is that we aren't sure if there is another set of sensors around her window on the inside. I'm hoping Murphy was able to find out for us.
Murphy has proven to be an asset and has helped us by giving us information regarding security, information regarding patrols, etc. I realize now that there is no way that we would have a chance of pulling this off without his help.
I have been going over some possible routes we can take to get back to the pack house once we have left; however, I need Murphy's input on which routes would be the safest and most accessible. There seem to be some areas that aren't as well watched or guarded that we could use to our advantage. The only problem is that these routes aren't the most direct and will take more time.
The other problem with these routes is that to get to the pack border; we would have to travel through the thick forest for about a mile or so. I'm also not sure how long it will take us to transverse the woods; that will depend on how dense the forest truly is. It will be more complex when we have an unconscious Remi and may take longer to get back to the rendezvous point.
Hopefully, tonight when we meet with Murphy, he will have some ideas for us.
Micah POV
It has been a very long two days, and I can't wait to get home. I'm not looking forward to our rescuing of Remi, only because it is becoming a highly complex process. I'm not one for secrecy and sneaking around. Nathan and Wyatt are better at covert operations, while I'm better at straight-up fighting.
I'm a simple guy who likes everything to be simple and easy. I'm not one for drama or complications. That's partly why I'm hoping Remi isn't our mate. I just always imagined our mate being strong, confident, and gorgeous. Unfortunately, Remi isn't going to have those qualities. I'm not sure what Remi is like, but I imagine she is either a royal b***h or very damaged and broken.
Don't get me wrong; I want to help Remi reunite her with her mother. No one deserves to live like this, but she isn't the mate for us. My brothers and I don't need a damaged, broken, weak mate, nor does our pack need that kind of Luna.
I will say the pack warriors here are very well trained and are probably more lethal than they lead us to believe. It's nothing that our warriors can't handle. Our warriors are trained to be adaptable in any given situation and always to expect the unexcepted.
Crossing the border and getting to the pack house isn't the changeling part; it is leaving with an unconscious Remi and a pregnant she-wolf that cannot shift into her wolf. We will have to go in our human forms instead of our wolf forms, which will slow us down.
This rescue is anything but simple. Too many unknown variables could trip us up and get us caught or worse.
Wyatt POV
It's almost time for the meeting with Murphy. Tonight, we nail down the plan for rescuing Remi. I switch the camera feeds from live to the loop feed. Tonight, I have to risk muting the microphones in my room. We need to be able to talk; otherwise, it will take us all night to write all this out.
A few moments later, my brothers entered the room. Nathan walks over to the table and lays out a map of the area, and the pack lands. I notice that he has indicated a few routes, none of which are direct.
"Murphy should be here soon. It looks like you have marked some routes," I say to Nathan
"Yes. These routes seem to have the least amount of security and cameras. However, I will need input from Murphy on which one would be the best," Nathan says.
"Dude, those routes are going to take us much longer to navigate, which means there is going to be a higher chance of getting caught," Micah says, annoyed.
"I know. All the more direct routes are too heavily patrolled and have too many cameras. These routes are our best option," Nathan tells Micah.
Before Micah can respond, there is a soft knock at the door. I go to the door and open it to find Murphy standing outside the door. I move aside to let Murphy in and then close the door softly.
"Looks like we are going to have to rescue Remi while you are still here," Murphy says as we walk over to the table with the map.
"What? Why?" I ask Murphy
Initially, we planned to rescue Remi right after we left. It was riskier since we could be implicated in Remi's kidnapping, but we figured that Alpha Maverick wouldn't jump to that conclusion immediately. Especially since we haven't asked about Remi since our first day here, nor have we been snooping around. For all intense and purposes, we believed Alpha Maverick about Remi being sick.
"Since you have been here, Remi has been left alone in her bedroom, which means we have the best chance to get to her.
"Unfortunately, Remi will be busy servicing the Alpha once you all leave, and the goddess knows who else. I'm not sure when Remi will be alone again to get to her," Murphy tells us.
"That may work to our advantage," I tell my brothers and Murphy
"How so?" Nathan asks
"If we are still here when the kidnapping happens, then we won't look guilty. We can send our team in to get Remi and then get her out. Also, I don't think Alpha Maverick will announce that Remi has been taken with us still here or that the kidnappers had inside help. This will buy some time for our team to get Remi and Murphy's family to our territory," I say
"True. Plus, Alpha Maverick won't resume normal operations while we are still here, which will give us less to worry about," Nathan says, stroking his chin thoughtfully.
"Agreed. It hasn't been as busy with the three of you here. It will make it easier for your team to rescue Remi and for my family and myself to escape with them," Murphy says.
"Were you able to find out if there are any sensors inside the window in Remi's room?" Nathan asks
"Looks like the only sensors are on the outside of the window. I can remotely shut those off once your team is in position. Once your team has Remi, I will turn the sensor back on. Your men will have to wear masks since cutting the camera feed inside Remi's room is too dangerous. So, we will need to wait until everyone is asleep before we make our move," Murphy says
"Good. Now I marked some location on this map and wanted your input as to which is the best route and rendezvous point outside your pack's territory," Nathan tells Murphy, who looks at the map.
"This route along the Northern border is our best bet. There aren't too many cameras in that area, and no one will notice immediately if the cameras go down. The downside is we will have to transverse more of the forest, which is the thickest on the Northern side; however, there is a utility road that runs along the pack border that hardly anyone uses anymore. Your team will be able to park your vehicles closer to the board," Murphy says.
"How far in does the utility road go?" I ask Murphy
"About 5 miles. I suggest you park your vehicles about 2 miles from the border to be on the safe side," Murphy tells us.
"What about the patrols in that area?" Micah asks Murphy.
"That shouldn't be a problem. Because of the thick forest along the Northern bored, patrols are far and few—usually, one or two patrols at any given time. I will make sure I'm on patrol tomorrow night in that area," Murphy says.
"Do you know how many cameras are by Remi's room?" I ask Murphy
"There are at least two on the outside monitoring the window. Unfortunately, there are cameras everywhere in Remi's room. You could probably turn off the ones on the outside without much problem," Murphy says
"The cameras in Remi's room aren't easy to hack into and would take too much time, so it is a good idea for our team to wear a mask that will hide their identity. I should be able to hack into the cameras outside Remi's room, though; they don't seem as well protected," I tell Murphy.
"That's good. If an alarm is tripped, they won't be able to use the outside cameras to track what direction we are going," Murphy says.
We spend the next hour reviewing the plan and firming up the details. We have a solid plan in place.
We decided that tomorrow night is the night since it will be our last night here. I will mind link the information to our Beta Jesse, who we get our team together and everything ready. Then, at the appointed time, I will cut the camera feed in the areas that our men will travel. Murphy will take care of the sensor outside of Remi's room.
"Do you think this will work?" Micah asks once Murphy leaves.
"Yes, I do. It won't be easy, but we do have a solid plan in place," I tell Micah
"I don't like it. There are too many unknown variables," Micah says
"There are far fewer unknown variables now than if we waited. It will be much harder if we wait. As Murphy said, this is one of the rare times that Remi is completely alone with no one in her room, so we won't have to worry about trying to get her alone or someone catching us. Plus, once normal operations start once we are gone, there will be more wolves coming and going to and from the pack," Nathan tells Micah.
"Micah, Nathan, and I are good at covert operations like this. Trust us; this will work," I told Micah.
I feel that Micah's reluctance has more to do with Remi possibly being our mate than anything else. However, regardless if Remi is our mate, no one deserves to live like this, as someone's property.
"Fine," Micah huffs
"Good, I'm glad we are all on the same page. Now we should get some sleep. Tomorrow is going to be a long day," I tell my brothers.
Once my brothers have left, I returned the camera to the live feed and unmuted the microphones. As far as I can tell, it doesn't appear that anyone notices anything. That is good.
