Axel pov- 1 year later Looking out over the clubhouse's lot he couldn't help but feel content. Life was good. It was six months ago that Briar finally agreed to be his wife, though she still hasn't agreed to be his old lady. Axel doubted she ever would. She wasn't into that, being property. It wasn’t a big deal to him as all Axel cared about was calling Briar his. He heard her laugh and his heart felt lighter than ever. He still had his moments, where the darkness overtook him. Where he remembered why he got the name Reaper, but she pulled him back. Into the light, Briar was his saving grace. His sweetness. Axel looked at his sweetness and wondered when she was ever going to tell him that she was pregnant. He had known for the past two weeks that she was pregnant, she complained of tenderness, tiredness, and hell he almost walked into the house in full gear never knowing what mood she would be in. Some nights she would rip his clothes off and others Briar ripped his head off as she was fuming mad. He didn’t care, he bore it all because he knew that it meant she was bearing his child. The club was having a barbeque and there was nothing but smiles and laughter. The club accepted the change of no club girls well, especially the old ladies. They came around more and started initiating more cookouts. Whether the men still slept with other women, Axel couldn’t say. He just didn’t know about it, but he made sure the women could come to him about Briar. The club was shaping up to be what he always envisioned for himself. He just never dreamed he would have a family to call his own. He was one lucky guy. Briar pov She had a secret. Briar couldn’t wait to tell Axel her secret tonight! She hadn’t told him yet due to her doctor's warning. When Briar saw that second pink line show up she was immediately on the phone with her doctor. She was so happy and scared at the same time. She didn’t tell Axel if she was wrong about being pregnant. Her doctor told her that she was indeed pregnant, but due to her last pregnancy loss, she needed to be careful for the first few weeks. Briar hated keeping secrets and kept zero secrets from Axel. This was different. Briar didn’t want to get his hopes up only for her to lose the baby. She felt so bad for the poor man as she had become this big ball of anxiety. Briar knew she was taking it out on him, hopefully he would forgive her after she told him the need tonight. Briar looked around the clubhouse backyard and couldn’t help but smile while her hand found her stomach. The sight of couples sitting next to each other and smiling with kids of various ages running around made her heart happy. Briar only wished that she didn’t have to go through so Much heartbreak to be this happy. Grayson. She still missed her son deeply and her heart longed for him every day. Briar still visited his grave often and several times found the presence of another person. Liam. The only other person that it could be. Briar said her piece with Briar that day a year ago and hadn’t thought of the man much since then. She heard from Liam that the two clubs kept the truce and life went on spinning. She saw Liam from time to time and Briar was unbothered. She waved, said hello, and moved on with her day. It never bothered her the slightest when he had woken draped all over him. Liam was her past and Axel was her everything. Her brother called six months ago informing her that their father passed away. When Briar didn’t respond to his immediate announcement Eric pushed his luck. Eric asked her to go back to that man. She turned her brother down flat. Briar didn’t apologize, just told him that she was happy for the first time in a long time and that she had no plans to jeopardize that. She moved on from that small town. Briar was broken out of her thoughts when she felt Axel come up from behind her and wrap his arms around her waist to lay them on her stomach. “Missed you, sweetness,” he murmured in her ear in a voice that turned her on. “I missed you too,” she whispered back, worried someone would hear her. “You ready to go inside?” Axel barked out a laugh, “You sure? I mean with your brother here,” Axel gestured to Eric talking to Nicole near the fire pit. Even though she made it clear she wasn’t returning, Briar told Eric he was welcome. Eric's first visit was a month later and he came every few months. “Come on, he won’t even notice,” Axel said with a wicked smirk. “I gotta play my cards right while you are in this mood,” he muttered while leading her away from the crowd. “What are you talking about?” She asked and tugged on his hand. Axel stiffened slightly and pulled her along, “Nothing.” Briar ripped her hand out of his and demanded an explanation. “Axel Hart! What are you talking about!” She shouted loud enough to stop the party. “Oh…” “Words out..” “Looks like she knows…” everyone started murmuring. “What do I know? What’s going on?” Briar started panicking. “Calm down, I know you are pregnant,” Axel told her and she erupted into anger. “No, you don’t!” She screamed and started hitting him weakly in the chest. “Woman! How could I not know? I need a full suit of body armor every time I come home!” Axel shouted in anger. “Oh really? Well then maybe I shouldn’t be there!” She responded and tried to take off. She managed two steps before Axel caught her in his arms. She started fighting like a wolf woman. “Easy Mike Tyson. I love you! I know everything about you and I knew you were pregnant the second day of your missed period. I was just waiting for you to tell me.” He took a breath. “Hell woman, don’t you get it? I'm always waiting for you.” Briarcouldn’t stop the tears and let them flow as she kissed the most important person in her life.
