Axel pov He couldn’t believe how easily it was to become addicted to sleeping next to the woman in your life. The feeling of contentment you have when your women cuddles up against you at night. The way your body craves the warmth and comfort from the person on a subconscious level that you are totally unaware of. It had only been seven days since the two of them returned from Tennessee and Axel convinced Briar to move in with him. The argument was surprisingly short as he was able to convince his sweetness that Magnet’s MC was still a threat to her safety. His sweetness pushed against this idea, but within an hour of the two of them returning to Missouri a Ghost Demon had drove by her house. She was terrified and immediately started packing her things. Axel took his woman to his house a mile away from his new clubhouse. His woman was not happy about being in the club life and told him every chance she got. Axel loved watching her get worked up; he had the perfect way of quelling her anger. His c**k. Then in the aftermath of the climax, Briar became worried again. She worried for him, his safety. Axel found it endearing, but this was his life and he didn’t know anything else. While he wanted to change for her and was willing to, he was still the Reaper. Axel had earned the moniker of the Reaper since his days in the Marines and while he loved the woman beside him, that wasn’t going to change overnight. The reality was that he had started to change the second he laid eyes on her and that fact didn’t bother him. When he saw his mother yesterday she told him that she was happy for him. His mother had never seen him so content, so at peace with himself. He knew that it was because he found his person. The one person that his entire world revolved around. Well at least until they had children. Axel couldn’t wait until his sweetness was round with his child. Their child. He just hoped Briar felt the same. Axel still had to have the meeting with Magnet and that was scheduled for tonight. He couldn’t lie and say he wasn’t worried about what could happen. Axel had let Briar go to work for the past week with a prospect in tow, but not today. Today she was not leaving his sight, especially considering that Magnet decided Briar had to come to the meeting. Axel heard through the grapevine that the founder of the Ghost MC had given his blessing of Briar. This meant that Briar could still be Magnet’s old lady, and that past aggressions, aka sleeping with the enemy could be forgiven. This revelation came as a shock to everyone, himself included. Briar pov Life since she had returned to town had been something out of a dream. Axel worshipped the ground she walked on and it made Briar confront the fact that she had never been loved in any of her relationships. This went for her family as well, with the exception of her mother and Lucy. The reality stung so bad that she would often lay awake as Axel clung to her. While it was nice, the feeling was also suffocating. The intensity of Axel’s love frightened her, as she had never felt love on this scale from anyone but her mother. Briar was terrified that Axel would suddenly yank the rug out from beneath her. It might after this afternoon, Briar realized as she knocked on the door. Standing on the porch waiting for it to open, she realized that she had in fact never been to Liam’s house before. It was definitely a stark contrast between the two men as Axel had moved her in right away. “Rose! You came back!” Liam said as he finally opened the door. “No, I just came to talk to you, can we sit,” Briar gestured to the lawn furniture and ignored the hurt look in his eyes. “You aren't back to stay?” Liam asked as he sat down and Briar shook her head. “No, I wanted to talk to you.” “About what? Axel know you are here?” “I wanted to ask you to stop this. To end this before anothet war breaks out.” “How do you know about that?” Liam asked with steel in his eyes. “Axel told me, but I don't understand why,” Briar pleaded. “What do you mean??” he was confused. “Liam, you didn't love me, so why is that worth ending the life of some one else for?” “Yes I did! I do! I love you more than anything, and our son…” “Then I would have been enough, you wouldn't have needed anyone else. We would have moved in together when I got pregnant ,” Briar reiterated softly. “I told you why it had to be that way!” Liam shouted. “It is an excuse Liam and you know it.” she said firmly. “One thing I learned from Axel is that if you love some one you change the rules, not conform to them.” That jab pissed him off and he launched out of the chair and flipped the table over. Rose sat there unflinching, used to men’s displays of anger. “Please reconsider going to war with Axel and his club.” “Worried for your precious new man?” Liam sneered. Briar let out a sigh and stood up, “No Liam. I know you will loose.” she walked away before he could respond. Briar only hoped that her words had some effect. Liam pov “Hey!” he heard faintly. “Hey!” he heard again from a distance before a slap on his cheek. The slap roused him enough to look around and saw Trenches staring up at him. He was confused as the last thing he remembered was talking to Rose. “What’s going on?” he asked confused. “You are smashed and the meeting is in ten minutes!” he screamed in his face. Liam looked around and saw bottles all around him. Fuzzy memories came back to him; Rose talking to him. “If you love some one, you change the rules,” the words reaued over and over in his head after she left him. He tried to drown out the words by drinking. It didn't work as her voice only got louder in his head. She was right. He was the President, he could have changed all of the rules for her. He didn't because he didn't want to. Liam had want to love Rose, but at the end of the day…he didn't. His actions proved it. Briar was right and he hated himself for that fact. He slept with club women because at the end of the day, he didn't want to change. So he wanted to drink away that reality. “Liam!” Trenches yelled at him. “Broker a truce,” his voice was barely a whisper. “What man?” Trenches reared back. “Are you high?” “A truce!” he shouted and pushed his VP out of his face with the little strength he had. “You are crazy!” Trenches said while sitting on his haunches. “We would never survive a war against Axel Hart. He would destroy our club piece by piece. Broker the truce, I will be there when I can make myself presentable.” “But-” “Do it now or I’ll find a new VP,” he hollered and Trenches finally left. Liam hunched over and hated what he had become and the reality of the situation. He didn't know if the MC would ever recover, but Rose was right. Axel Hart would destroy them. A truce would be the only thing that would save the MC, he had no idea if he would still be Prez after this was all over
