Chapter 29
SPRING IS FOR FESTIVAL IX
I was still thinking how patient Seth is—the contradiction of his friend, Ayuna, and I could not care about how she hates me because what important is he likes me. The things happened fast though. How many months had passed since then? It's already March, and I had only known them since July.
“What’s going on inside your mind?”
“Thinking of how I could burn Ayuna alive.”
He frowned and examined my face, checking whether I was joking or just having my bad attitude acting as of the moment. “You have the mind of a murderer.”
“Dude.” I remembered he was still hugging me. I distanced myself from him and removed the overgown off my body. “Sometimes, a person is more dangerous when he is silent. You should be thankful that I am open to you, so when something happens, you can tell the police who did it because you heard it straight from my mouth.”
“Seah...” His voice was as dangerous as what I was thinking earlier. “You, two, should learn how to get along.”
I smiled widely with my eyes squinted at him. “Tell her that.”
He rolled his eyes at his fakeness, earning a giggle from me because of his cuteness. I opened the door and left him alone. I walked in my bikini and saw some of the boys, who I just noticed have changed into more comfortable clothes now, going down from the third floor.
“Yo, Seah,” Drake greeted. He put on a shirt on his bruised upper body. “Why did you return early?”
“I was feeling sick,” I told him. “What about you, guys?”
I looked at the others. Troy was still silent. Not that I am saying that he should be talkative, but I saw something different from him and the way he avoided my eyes when I glanced at him.
“Mary was tired.”
My gaze dropped to his body. “You made her tired.” I shifted to Liam and the others. “Ann was drunk. Ayuna insisted to go home for no reason while Leslie... she was also drunk...”
I raised my eyebrow, urging him to continue.
“And no one likes what she does when she is drunk, so I brought her home,” one said who I suddenly forgot the name.
Goodness, look how much stress Ayuna has brought me just because of our simple argument. I couldn’t remember the name of a person who I just met earlier. Was this even normal? I really should avoid talking with her because she was not a good influence in any aspect of my being.
“I see. Did you at least enjoy the festival?”
They shook their head together as if their minds were one.
“As far as I know, we would stay here until Sunday, so I'm still cool with it. We have two more days to enjoy,” James explained.
“Sunday?” Liam asked. “And what are we going to do tomorrow and the day after tomorrow?”
Did this man have no awareness?
“School parade tomorrow. Sunday is the closing event,” I answered him.
He uttered a surprised reaction. “Nice. Going to sleep early, so I would look pretty tomorrow.”
He winked at all of us, but my questioning face still lingered after he left. I pointed him; the guys jerked their forefinger towards him, too. We had the same reaction.
James waved his hand at us to bring us back to reality. “Nah, he's straight. He has Ann, remember?”
He went downstairs next, leaving me with the others. I told them to have a good night's sleep before climbing up to our room. The girls drowned themselves to drowsiness except for Ayuna, and I would beg for an apocalypse before I talk to her again. I laid on the bed just beside Leslie, far from Ayuna to save this room from a war of words between us.
“I noticed something.”
Couldn’t she just shut up her mouth?
“Your boobs are being left behind, Seah.” Then she let a peal of mocking laughter. “Seth doesn’t like that.”
I stayed lying on the bed, looking at the ceiling where the chandelier light was hanging. “Your brain was left behind, too, Ayuna, and I advised you to go back to lower level of education. Besides”―I tilted my head to her direction and saw her standing by the end of the bed. Leslie put her leg on mine; I pushed it away, but she did it again as if distracting me from answering Ayuna. “Your chest is big, too, but Seth still doesn’t like you.”
I put on a very sarcastic smile and wriggled my eyebrows. She turned around and did not say anything anymore. Finally, the peace I was asking for a little while ago. I shut my eyes closed and called for the god of sleep.
“Seah.”
“Call me that name when I had already considered you as my friend,” I muttered lazily.
“You let others call you that though.”
“Yes, because they aren’t as bitchy as you,” I said. “Now if you’re done, kindly turn off the light and never talk to me again unless you have the kindness of the ladies on this bed which I bet you will never have. The word ‘good’ and ‘Ayuna’ sound so bad, no offense meant.”
The next day, we rode in the car we used to get here in order to go to one of the schools in this place and celebrate the festival in the booths prepared by them. We chose to go to the nearest most famous one, and we were just by the road, but the cars lined up and caused traffic.
“Do you think that this is a good idea that we came here?” James asked, appearing from behind and leaning on the sides of Seth and my seat as he chose to ride in the car with us. “There are a lot of schools in the choices. Why Estro Bersamus?”
“Because the prestige of their school is incomparable. Among all the schools, universities, or colleges, this one offers you the most relevant meaning of the festival,” said Ayuna, the Miss-Know-It-All. He leaned forward and leaned on Seth’s back headrest, combing his hair. “May I know why are you even here with us? You rode on Liam’s the first day, right?”
“Let Troy suffer with the couples there.”
“Ah, yes, Troy.” She nodded understandingly. “He doesn’t belong here.”
