Chapter 11   THEY WHO HIT THE RIGHT NOTE   Nothing special had happened for the past few days on the new school I entered for college. My plan with Adamaris about shopping wasn't true. One of the reasons was because it was only to have her on our group that day. Another reason which was so stupid of me was because I forgot to get her number. I really wanted to go shopping with her, but yes, stupidity reigned. Besides, I didn't know her section. I could continue the plan unless I invite Ayuna which was impossible to happen in my entire life. Shopping would be better with someone.   To sum it up, boring. What gave spice in the entrance of my college life was this concert with the Waves of the Band. I checked my outfit in front of the body size mirror. I dressed up in a black bralette under a black long sleeves see through tucked inside a mom's pants. I tilted my head. Something's lacking to complete the look. I saw my cat eye sunglasses on the dresser and wore it before puckering my red lips and displayed a smile. I turned around, and my hair in a high pony tail did the same. I sat on my bed to put on my black boots. I looked at the time. It's already seven in the evening, and the concert will start at nine o'clock. I hurried downstairs because he might be waiting. Mom was already sleeping, but I told her where I was going earlier.   When I went outside, Seth was standing on the door of his car. In a sudden, not surprised though, my body shivered as the cold, ruthless wind pierced through my thin top. I was not going to change any piece of what I am wearing right now. This autumn season would be ruining my day.   "You might get sick."   "I can handle cold very well," I lied. "Do not worry. We're here to enjoy, aren't we?"   He went towards the car door on the passenger seat side and held the knob for me. He sighed. "You sure?" Concern coated his deep voice.   "Yes." I entered his car. "If I get cold, you could give me your jacket."   Fortunately, Seth was wearing a black leather jacket and a pants which I believed was thick enough to help him in this season.   "And you are wearing sunglasses for what?" he teased.   "For the lights, of course." I made a face. "My eyes are sensitive to the lights in a concert."   "Really?"   "Yes, no joke."   He cracked into a laugh. I hoped he choke on his own saliva... or I can choke him.   "We'll be late, Seth."   "Aye, aye, madam Elysea!" He saluted. He slammed the door loud, I winced.   Seriously, this man.   Elysea... He called me by my first name. It felt strange and, at the same time, wonderful. My heart wanted to jump out of my ribs and run into him. Nevermind. That's awful. I'd never voice out such horrible line.   Seth sat beside me and started the engine. It roared into life and gave us heat. I raised my glasses to my hair and rubbed my palm to ease the coldness. It's not that cold now, but the coldness I felt outside stayed on my body.   "Here." He pulled a fashion gloves from the compartment box and threw it to me. "Wear it."   "It's not cold anymore."   He shrugged. "Well, in case. If you wear that, you would look like a hot action star."   "I admit I'm hot even without being an action star. Thank you for the compliment." I placed his gloves in front of me. "Have you heard any of their song?"   "Who?" He gave me a glance and returned his eyes on the road. "Waves of the Band? Yes, they are cool. What about you?"   I shook my head. "I didn't."   The post lights illuminated us. My phone rang, disturbing the peaceful silence between the two of us. My friend was calling. I opened my camera. Rose's face covered the whole screen.   "b***h, guess what?"   "What?"   "I'm pregnant!"   From the corner of my eyes, I saw Seth glanced at me.   "What?" I asked again. "Can you repeat it?"   "I'm pregnant, bitch."   I massaged the temples of my head. I inserted the jack of my earphones because her voice is too loud even though she wasn't in speaker. Seth evem heard it.   "Are you kidding me?"   "No," she said on the other line.   "How did that happen? I thought you were being careful?"   "Yes—"   "You're like Dahlia in the Superstar," I commented, remembering the song that kept on playing on my mind since last week.   "Who's Dahlia? Dahlia in the Superstar?" She screamed. Seth threw a glimpse at me again. "You're listening to Waves of the Band?"   "I thought you didn't listen to them," Seth remarked while his attention was still set on the way.   Rose's eyes widened. She covered her mouth and concealed her squeal. "Who's that?"   "Seth," I answered. I looked at him. "I was just kidding, alright. I've been listening to their songs for a week. I've memorized all their songs."   "As in all?"   "Well, yes." I shrugged. "Not to brag, but I'm good at memorizing."   "Cool. I only listened to their albums, never bothered to search for the song's lyrics."   "b***h, I'm still here." If we're talking face-to-face, Rose would have snapped her fingers in front of me. I paid back my attention to her. "Where are you going? Just the two of you?"   "Yes, we're heading to the concert of the Waves of the Band."   Rose got excited again. "I hope I was with you."   "Yeah."   "You never listened to them when I asked you to before."   "Really?" I laughed it out. "Maybe that wasn't the right time."   "And, b***h, you had a boyfriend before me!"   "I thought you're pregnant?"   "That was supposed to be a prank, but you're the one who surprised me here!"   "We're not in a relationship. Stop making an issue, will you?"   "Oh, yeah. You might be on the dating stage."   "We're not even dating!" I insisted. "Goodness."   "Then what do you call what you're doing right now?"   "Two people going in a concert."   "Don't act like an innocent, Seah. I know how your mind works."   I bursted out laughing. While she, on the other hand, was on her resting b***h face. "Seriously, Seah."   "I swear, it's nothing."   "I don't want you to get hurt."   "And that's the same for me," I muttered twisting the cord of my earphones.   "My emotions is not attach to my activities. Between the two of us, you have a soft heart. Guard it. I won't be there, but once I hear you crying over a guy, you will see me there."   "Thanks for the threat."   She frowned. "I'm not kidding."   "So do I," I said with a serious tone. "How are you? You didn't call me."   "I was expecting for your call."   I sighed.   "Why do you seem so stressed out? The class has just started. Are you already looking forward on the exams?"   "That's no what I'm thinking."   I was actually planning not to call her. I was trying to look busy before her birthday, so I can make an excuse why I won't be able to attend her legality next week. And I still thinking what to do for her. They made an effort for my birthday. I was afraid I might not be able to surpass what she did for me.   "My birthday is coming near. Are you going to be busy that day?"   "Not really."   Rose and I talked about my experiences on the new school. Nothing really changed except for a lesser population in this area. They treated me like I've been living here for years. I only ended the call when we reached the parking lot near the event. As expected, the place was packed up. A lot of people were wearing a black shirt that stated 'Waves of the Band.'   I unbuckled my seatbealt. "I'm unprepared."   "I brought two in case you want." Seth grabbed a paper bag from the backseat and handed it to me. "It's okay if you don't like."   "It will ruin my look," I joked. Well, he rocked his outfit, too. It will ruin our looks for today.   "We'll have the time to flaunt these outfits before the concert starts. We can wear it before we enter," he said. "Before that, let's grab some food. I'm kind of hungry."   I laughed because of what he said. We stopped by a diner and left when we heard that they were already letting the attendees enter the place. We had nothing to worry about our seats. They gave us a VIP ticket.   I couldn't help but show a wide grin the moment my foot step on the venue. For two weeks, I became a fan of WOTB. The chattering between their Breakers, their fandom name, was too loud and hyped up. The lights of the entire place dimmed, we all zipped our mouth. The stage was covered by fog until the stage lighting flashed blue before our eyes. We started screaming from the top of our lungs. The crowd's energy intensified when we heard their music echoing in the entire place.   We'll hit the walls with our shouts of dreams Build the fences up so high as our defense and we won't let their words hit like knives 'cause I know we will succeed, they don't believe   As long as I have you, it will still shine Your words are the switch that turn me on as a light bulb nearly dying, you save my life and you know I will succeed, they don't believe.   Everyone was trying to match someone else's ear-splitting voices. I turned on the torch on my phone and waved it in the air together with other Breakers. The first song ended, and they immediately proceeded to the second song entitled "Roadkill."   Oh, you're a roadkill, a slut in my dreams You're the b***h that make out with my friends in hell Oh, they call you roadkill, roadkill wait, hold up, you gave me the chills   And, girl, you are holding the flames of our love, you gave me the thrill I've been searching Your words started to kill my heart in a beat can I just ask you if you wanna be my fling?   Like what was written in their song, Waves of the Band just killed my heart with their words.   "Seah." Everything stopped when he called me by the name. I slowly turned to Seth, and he was staring at me intently. The band cooperated, they reached the ending of the song. It's time for the third song. My ears became biased. It couldn't hear anything apart from Seth's voice. "You were not a slut, but could you be my fling?"   "What?" My eyes twitched. "Fling?"   He suddenly laughed and focused his eyes back to the members playing in front of us. They went noisy again, but I heard what he said.   "I was just kidding."   #
