Chapter 40 FIRST LOVE’S INNOCENCE II Monday and I was slapped by the truth that I was a college student. There were activities, reporting, and examinations that take up the time of my sleep and give me stress, but even with that, for the next few days of business in school, I managed my time with Seth. Nothing changed so much before and after we got into a relationship. Maybe, what I could say, that he gotten sweeter, and he loved kisses. One day, when we were in his house to watch about a movie required in one of our course subjects, I was too distracted because he kept on giving me a smack and, sometimes, long kisses. Man ain’t taking coke but was addicted to me. Today, Sunday, mom cooked a lot of dishes, so I asked her why. “Seth’s parents are on a trip. That boy might not know how to cook, so bring him these foods.” Aware of Seth’s ability in cooking, I kept the smile to myself. I was even inspired to wash our dishes, so my mom wouldn’t look for me if I go somewhere, and then she would call just to tell me to do the household chores. With my the containers on my hands, I approached my mom who was busy watching a movie. “I’d give these to him, and maybe, stay there to ask him about some courses or tutor him.” “Alright. Tell him to eat on time.” “Aye.” I walked out of our house and went to Thompson's which was a few blocks away. Some kids showed me their wide grins with empty spaces for their teeth. I flaunted a smile and stopped on the front porch of Seth’s house. I knocked twice, and my hand, about to do the third knock, stopped mid-air as his face welcomed me in their front door. “Hi, babe. Come in.” He gave me a smack and glanced at what I was holding. “What is that?” I felt myself at home and headed to the kitchen. I almost bumped to Ayuna. My forehead knitted as I put the containers on the counter. I followed Ayuna bade farewell and left the house. “Why is she here?” I couldn’t contain my feeling especially when I saw a mark on her neck. My fists clenched, and my heart pounded inside my chest. I began to feel sweaty and cold as my mind jumped into conclusions. “Seth.” His innocent face turned to me. “She just borrowed something.” “Why does she have a hickey?” I asked, stressing every words in attempt to control my growing rage. Even before, when Ayuna showed signs that she likes Seth, I disregarded it because we were not in a relationship yet. When we entered the boyfriend-girlfriend stage, she distanced herself from us, and until then, not in my dream or imagination did I see Ayuna coming out of his house with a love bite on her neck. “Ayuna has a boyfriend, if that is what you are thinking. We are not cheating from you.” “I don’t believe it.” I scoffed. “Now, she was suddenly with someone? What happened to the times that she seemed head over heels to you? And why do I not see her boyfriend?” “They just became official two days ago, and she hasn’t told anyone except me because, of course, we are buddies.” He came closer to me and circled his hands around my waist. He rubbed his nose against mine, his breath touching my face. He ran his lips over mine and lightly bit it. “Look, I will never cheat on you. That’s a horrible thing to do. I wouldn’t want to break what you entrusted me. You do not deserve that.” “Sometimes, I think that you are too perfect to be existing in this world, and I want to see you make a flaw, so I will know that you are imperfect like me.” He planted a kiss again. “You are perfectly imperfect for me, baby.” “In your dreams.” I removed his hands off me and returned to the kitchen. I opened the containers, and the moment the smell invaded my nose, I felt hungry again. “I brought you food, so you can eat on time. Don’t want you to get sick.” “Sweet. Did you cook all of this?” “No, my mom did, and she’s the one who said that you should eat on time, so you won’t get sick.” The sparkle in his eyes died like how a star lost its shimmer. He lazily stood beside me and looked at the food. “Can you eat this with me? I haven’t eaten my breakfast yet.” My eyes grew wide. “Breakfast? Dude, it’s lunch already. My goodness.” I took plates and glasses from their cupboard and divided the rice for two. Good thing, my mom prepared rice, too. I put the side of our plates together with the utensils. Then, I got a box of their juice from their refrigerator and poured it to our glasses. I raised my head at him. “Where do you want to eat? Here or on your living room, so we can watch a movie and chill?” “I doubt the meaning of chill when you are the one saying that.” His chuckle drummed my heart in a manner different from what I felt due to anger. This was not caused by madness anymore. Maybe madness but a different kind of madness. I hoped that someone understands my complicated mind. Well, there were a lot of men who understood what is going on inside the head of their women, so I guessed, someone is out there who solves the riddle of my brain. I just hoped that it was Seth for me. He carried the food while I went ahead and searched for the movie in the site. We both liked action, thriller, and sci-fi movies, so we usually didn’t argue what movie to watch. I picked the one that was released last year. The other day, when we were watching a movie together to rest from studying and doing some of our activities, I asked him about it and if he had watched it. Both of us failed to see the whole movie, only the trailer, because of packed schedules that we had just forgotten about it. This movie was about fantasy, action, and science fiction. A part of a famous movie series, so we believed that it was worth to watch despite the months that had passed. “Have you been spoiled about it?” I asked as he laid down the plates and glasses from the tray to the glass table. “If you know something about it, you better tell it now or forever hold your silence in your grave.” He sat beside me on their carpet. “Frank gave spoilers, but knowing him, he doesn’t want to ruin my interest in watching, so I bet what he told me were lies.” “That better be lies.” The opening of the movie started, and I swore, these were the only series that sends me goosebumps every time I hear it. The coolness just never faded after all these years, and it couldn’t be compared to other shows. They kept on producing a wholesome, amazing show. I picked up my plate and fed myself, not minding the fullness after just eating a lunch. Seth and I were silent as the introduction appeared, showing the characters from the last movie, those who had separated from the team, and those who had their own family now. “Seah….” “Hmm?” I did not look away from the screen. “What is it?” “What do you do in your Spring Break?” An imaginary light bulb glowed above my head. I gulped the food inside my mouth and planned to tease him. “Since it is a short time to spend vacation somewhere, I usually spend those days in the houses of my exes.” “Exes…” he whispered. I thought he would ask how many exes I had, and that would be offensive in my side, but he questioned me something different. “What do you do in their house?” I showed him I was reminiscing and pretended to smile at the thought. “Make out?” “Oh.” Pain crossed his eyes. He silently ate his food. “Okay.” “What about you?” “I just watch movies during those days. It’s nothing special.” “Not memorable unlike mine.” I glanced at him, and seriously, oh, my goodness, I loved the sadness etched on his face, feeling happy that he seemed jealous at my exes, and at the same time, I felt bad because I hurt him. Remembering what one of his friends said, I would be his first, and now I am. I put my plate on the table and cornered his face on my hands to make him look at me. “I was just kidding, alright? I prefer to spend my time with my best friends. We do slumber party, watch movies, and sometimes, go to amusement parks to kill ourselves in the thrill rides. There were no exes in my Spring break. Don’t be jealous.” He pointed his lips. “I need a kiss.” “No,” I firmly said, but I did not stick to what I said. Instead of giving him directly what he wants, I pressed the back of my spoon on his lips. He was so surprised that he wasn’t able to react even after I removed my spoon. “There. An indirect kiss.” He rolled his eyes, and seriously, this man got the habit of doing that to me. It was so freaking hilarious. The way his dark orbs rotated and the way his eyelashes fluttered nailed his mean action. “Why are you rolling your eyes at me?” I asked, laughing. “You’re always rolling your eyes at me.” He fed me from his food. “It was your favorite, isn’t it? I just adapted it from you.” And I rolled my eyes at that. “See?” “Whatever,” we uttered at the same time, but his voice curling to match mine was very obvious. “And that one, too.” I rolled my eyes once again and hushed him because the characters were already speaking. Fortunately, he obeyed because if he won’t, I would shut down his TV. That means he couldn’t watch with me. #
