Part 1.
"JUNE". "JUNE. WHERE ARE YOU?" I'm here I called unintentionally . Jiyoung barreled into the room in a green fuffy haze and all the contents she was carring, came showering down around her, I looked down at her and the familiar sence of panic began to bubble in my stomach. "Ji? What are you doing here, it's late." The evening began to set in and the massive windows cast a warm glow onto the wooden floor, that added comfort to the old lecture room. It had long been abandoned but old reminders remained of what was a bustling class room. Sometimes when I let my mind wonder, I come up with little stories of what it must have been like to sit at one of those old wooden desks circling a massive green chalkboard. Now almost every desk is topped with papers, books, beakers, car parts, you name it . For over two years this has been my make shift home and the only safe place we all could come together and work. Jiyoung cleared a space and set down everything she was holding , for someone who doesn't have the luxury of what's left of the beauty market she always seems so put together. Her light brown hair sat neatly around her shoulders stopping just shy of her lower back, her family came from what was Korea many years ago and she's blessed with her mothers soft features that never seemed to get angry. The apple green sweater she wore, made her skin look even more pale in the evening light, while her long slender fingers rummaged through her pile of papers, not looking up at me she waved an old crumpled page in my direction. Shuffling over, my short limbs feel like Iron rods from being at my desk since last night . Unlike her, I am almost always the shortest in a group, my dad said its because of my grandmother on my mom's side but my golden brown skin is because of him, so is my pin straight, dark, almost black hair, . He never really spoke about my mother or her family and I never felt the need to ask because she was gone and he was there. Now he is gone too. Waving the paper closer to my face to get my attention, Jiyoung Steps closer forceing me into a seat, to face her. "pay attention" she says, while sitting on the desk opposite to mine. " All this bad stuff that happened to the world, happened because of a chain of events that started like a hundred years ago right?" "Yeees" I say, looking at her with confusion "it's 68" I butt in just because sometimes I can't help it. "but can we pin point where it exactly went wrong" she asks, looking at me egar for my response. "no" she continues. "people say its because of pollution that the disease was most likely formed but as you know, I studied the old cases from when the breakouts began and there was never a indication that the disease occurred naturally in the environment but still that's what government officials said so people believed it and still died although everyone went "green"... right "." umm" I look at her and the dancing page with my eyebrows raised. "Where are you going with this?" Bouncing to the chalkboard she looked at me with a sparkle in her eye "Get your butt out of that chair Juniper Park and brew us a large pot because its going to be a long night".
