~Ivory's POV~ "Hell, no way I would allow that to happen.” I screamed standing up from the bed with my balls fisted. "But-" My aunt tried to persuade me which I quickly cut her off. "Don't even try to persuade me, Aunt Marie." I snapped ruffling my hair. "I won't ever allow that to happen, they are out of their crazy damn minds to think they could have control over me. f**k, that was the only thing my father left and the house holds a lot of memories." I explained to my aunt with my eyes shut trying to control my anger. "There's no way in hell I would choose one of the choices." I added. "Will you freaking calm down and listen to me?" My aunt snapped at me heaving a heavy sigh. "Your father didn't have any will written for his properties and you're his only child and a female one at that-" Aunt Marie looked at me staring deep into my eyes probably for my expression. I clenched my fists gritting my teeth. "So, his relatives were to take the house and leave everything else for you." My aunt said dropping the bomb. I wasn't expecting it. "Who the hell are they to decide my father's properties when they aren't the ones who worked so hard for it." I explained groaning in frustration. "It's fine. You just have to move in with me in Chesterfield." My aunt disclosed. "The final funeral proceedings are next week and they couldn't freaking wait for a week before choosing who's attaining the properties." I yelled squishing my eyebrows. "And I am moving with no one. I will sort my s**t out." I said as a tear trickled in my eyes which were shimmering with tears that threatened to fall. "It's gonna be okay. I knew this is what your response would be, but-" Aunt Marie snuggled closer to me pulling me for a hug while patting my back. "Whatever your decision is, I am always here for you." She whispered rubbing my back. "Have you eaten?" She questioned disengaging from the hug and staring at me. I knew I couldn't lie with her stares, and I responded with a headshake. "Why?" She questioned with furrowed brows glaring at me. "I-I didn't have an appetite earlier." I replied fiddling with my hands and heads down with a crestfallen look. "You should eat, darling." She said in a subtle voice, and her gaze softened, I nodded affirmatively. "I will cook your favourite, and call you for dinner soon." She said making her way to the door and heading out. I exhaled moving to my desk to pick up my phone, I was baffled and wondering why Celene was so quiet these days, but I shrugged it off. My mind diverted to the stranger, he has been on my mind ever since, I was yearning for his touch but I don't ever want a complicated life, I want a peaceful and easygoing life. It suddenly struck my mind that staying here in Philadelphia, I might encounter him again sooner or later as I dashed out through the door. I took a big stride to the kitchen shouting and startling my Aunt who put on a puzzled look. "What the heck?" She holds her chest, exhaling. "What's wrong?" She questioned with a quipped brow, leaning against the smooth cooking granite counter with hands crossed on her chest. "I will be coming with you to Chesterfield, but it will be on a condition." I disclosed moving to the counter. "And what's that?" She asked arching a brow. "I won't be moving in with you." I said moving to the counter. "Okay." She replied opening the cover lid of the pot that was on the cooker. I widened my eyes in shock that she wasn't asking me any questions, I have braced myself for her questions but none were coming. "Okay." I muttered in a low breath heading to my room. I sat on my bed soliloquizing what to do if I relocated to Chesterfield, I had applied for a job in Rose Thorn Groups of companies, a conglomerate company. But it hasn't been replied to, I reviewed the email yet again to edit any errors. The Rose Thorn Company is the most famous and prestigious wine company, which owns the famous Wolf Blass and food companies in Philadelphia. I studied food production and food research in college, it's my dream job to study food particles and food pathogens to help mankind as a lot of people died because of food contamination, and inadequate processing of food in the companies which can lead to many deaths. I submitted the email to the company's email nodding in satisfaction with my work. I switched my laptop off to take a quick nap. The days passed by quickly and it was finally my Dad's funeral proceeding, I was dressed in a short-sleeved black midi-length gown with a white collar and a white stripe around the waist. The last respect was paid to my Dad by his colleagues, I sobbed knowing he was no more, he wouldn't be here for me anymore. After the long day, I was finally back at home with my aunt whose eyes were drained of colour. I was anxious as to what was next, afraid of taking a step all by myself. My aunt persuaded my father's relatives to give me some time to sort myself out. -- Few days later -- I squealed rushing into the living room shouting on top of my nerves to my aunt who was startled. "What's the f*****g problem?" She asked raising her brows. My aunt's eyes were still fixed on the TV watching her favourite movie. "I am invited for the interview, Aunt Marie." I exclaimed grinning from ear to ear. "Wow, that's so nice darling. Congratulations." She said, not taking her eyes off the TV. I nudged at her to give me her attention taking a seat next to her on the couch. "What's the date of the interview?" She asked, titling her head sideways. "Tomorrow." I replied giggling. I was nervous and also excited about the interview, I hoped I get the job so I moved to my wardrobe picking a puffed long-sleeved cream shirt with a collar, I decided to compliment it with high-waisted pants and black heels. I checked the mirror satisfied with my look. I shrieked, checking my wristwatch, and realized I would be late by hailing a taxi or taking a bus. It would take me at least 15 minutes or more as I dashed out, heating my Aunt's call after me to take breakfast, but hell no, I am already late. She would be travelling to Chesterfield and I would later join. n her after promising that I would transfer my work to Chesterfield if I got the job that I hoped I would get, making my way to the entrance of the huge building.
