The Queen's Last Night
The icy wind howled through the stone corridors of the royal dungeon. Luna Nightshade curled her trembling fingers around the rusted bars of her cell, staring into the darkness beyond. Snow drifted through the broken window high above, covering the cold floor in a thin white layer. Five years. Five years of devotion. Five years of sacrificing everything for the man she loved. And this was how it ended. A bitter smile touched her pale lips. The kingdom celebrated above her head. Music echoed through the castle halls while nobles drank wine and toasted their king's happiness. King Damien Blackwood. Her husband. Her mate. Her executioner. The sound of footsteps echoed down the corridor. Luna slowly lifted her head. The iron door creaked open. A woman dressed in expensive silk stepped inside, accompanied by two guards. Diamonds sparkled around her neck, and a triumphant smile curved her red lips. Seraphina. The king's mistress. The woman who had stolen Luna's life. "Still alive?" Seraphina asked mockingly. Luna said nothing. There was no strength left in her body, but her eyes remained sharp. The mistress laughed softly. "You know, the coronation was beautiful." Luna clenched her fists. Seraphina continued, enjoying every second of it. "Your son looked adorable today. He held my hand the entire ceremony." A sharp pain pierced Luna's heart. Her son. Her little Ethan. The child she had carried for months. The child she had nearly died giving birth to. "Mother," Seraphina mocked sweetly. "That's what he calls me now." Luna's breathing became uneven. "You're lying." "Am I?" Seraphina smiled. "Perhaps the boy simply prefers a real queen." The words struck harder than any blade. Luna looked away. If she met the woman's eyes any longer, she feared she might lose control completely. The mistress crouched in front of the cell. "Do you know why you lost?" Luna remained silent. "Because you were too kind." Seraphina stood and adjusted her gown. "You loved Damien." Her smile widened. "And I loved power." Without another word, she turned and walked away. The dungeon door slammed shut. Silence returned. Luna slowly sank to the floor. Tears rolled down her frozen cheeks. Not for herself. For her son. For the family she had believed was real. For the future that had been stolen from her. Hours passed. The cold became unbearable. Her vision blurred. Her heartbeat weakened. Outside, thunder shook the sky. Then suddenly— A silver light appeared inside the cell. Luna's eyes widened. The glow grew brighter and brighter until the entire dungeon was filled with moonlight. A woman's voice echoed around her. Ancient. Powerful. Divine. "You were wronged." Luna struggled to sit upright. "Who... are you?" "I am the Moon Goddess." The silver light pulsed. "Your fate was stolen." Luna stared in disbelief. The goddess continued. "Will you accept another chance?" A chance? Another chance? The words ignited something inside her dying heart. Rage. Determination. Hope. Luna clenched her fists. If fate truly offered her a second life... She would never repeat the same mistakes. She would protect her son. She would expose her enemies. She would destroy everyone who betrayed her. And this time— She would become the Queen she was always meant to be. "I accept." The silver light exploded around her. The dungeon disappeared. The cold vanished. And darkness swallowed everything. When Luna opened her eyes again, she was no longer in the prison. She was standing in front of a mirror. Wearing a white wedding dress. The day she married Damien Blackwood. The day everything began. And this time... The Queen remembered everything.
