Chained by the Wounds of Fate

Love. Fairytale. Happy Ending. These words mean nothing to me. For me, love is just a form of attachment that will always come to an end. Like a fairy tale, love has to end... but not with a happy ending. Or I guess that's what I believe after experiencing such dilemma. I am not bitter. I'm just stating the truth that my own heart cried, yes... I experienced both love and fairy tales, I even believed that I was a damsel in distress and that there was a knight in shining armor who has come to save me. I was a fool. I never had the happy ending that everyone wished to have. I was so devastated about the happily ever afters all books offered, about all the idea of forever that love gave. I was blinded by my dreams that I forgot to reconsider reality. There also came a moment that I even asked myself "Why can't I have a happy ending?" And that's when I realized something... There's no such thing as happy ending, nor forever, nor love. There is only reality and the harsh truth. I had to grow up and stop the nonsense my feelings were dictating. I had to control my feelings and not let these feelings to control me instead, I already had enough of the pain, regret, and sorrow. I had to end this suffering my heart was carrying and I had to be strong enough in order to push all away and move on.  I wasn't happy anymore, all I felt was emptiness and all I saw was darkness. And so, I had to end this, for good. I had to go forward and leave everything behind that has kept me from fulfilling my dreams. I know there's no such thing as happy endings, but I still hope. I am Dea Ver Saturnina Esperanza and I was Tyrell Zeus Cassiopea’s wife... Or so I thought. ***     "Why are you doing this to me?!" Galit na sigaw ko sa lalakeng nasa harap ko pagkapasok na pagkapasok ko pa lang sa kanyang opisina.     Tumigil siya sa pagbabasa sa mga papeles sa kanyang table at tumingin sa akin, umakto siyang parang nagulat at saka siya ngumisi sa akin.     "Hello, ex-wife." He grinned.     Napakuyom ang aking dalawang kamay, I wanted to punch his face with my fist and erase his infamous smirk, but I need to maintain my composure and settle things. I won't let this ex-of-my-life to get the better of me.     "Why are you doing this to me, Mr. Cassiopea?" Mahinahong tanong ko sa kanya, huminga ako ng malalim tsaka ko siya tinaasan ng kilay.    Let's just say naghahasik na naman ng dilim sa buhay ko ang lalakeng ito. How dare him take away my properties! Not my dear Esperanza Company! Ito na lang ang natitirang alaala ko sa mga magulang ko. Kukunin pa ng pesteng ito?     How can someone like him do something this cruel? Hindi na ba siya nakontento sa paninira sa buhay ko? At ngayon... at ngayon... pati mga pagmamay ari ko ay balak niyang kunin sa akin?!     "Stop the formalities, my wife." He ordered, "Please, have a seat." He offered, sinenyasan niya akong umupo sa sofa sa may gilid ng opisina niya.     Mas lalong humigpit ang kamao ko dahil sa inis, "una sa lahat peste ka, hindi mo na ako asawa kaya huwag mo akong tawaging my wife, ew lang po. Pangalawa, hindi na ako magtatagal pa kaya hindi ko na kailangan ang umupo. Just give me back my family's company at makakaalis na ako sa impyerno mo!" Galit kong hinampas ang table niya matapos akong makalapit sa kanyang kinaroroonan.    Tumigil si Tyrell sa pagbabasa ng mga papeles at tumingin sa akin.     "Whoa. Still brutal, wife?" He smirked, I know he was just teasing me. And hell knows it is getting on my nerves! Tssss!     "Don't call me that, huwag na huwag mo akong matawag ng nakakadiring endearment na iyan. Just give me back my family's company!" Tugon ko, kanina pa akong nakasigaw dahil sa lalakeng ito. May utak ba siya? Parang hindi niya ako naiintindihan ano man ang sabihin kong pagpapaliwanag.     Tinitigan niya ako sa aking mga mata, those familiar brown eyes that seemed so lost in thoughts, "do you think you can get your company that easily?" Seryosong tanong niya sa akin, "Your company is already mine, wife. That company of yours is already mine. You have none left." He said, a matter-of-factly. As if it was the most obvious thing in the world.     "Bakit mo ito ginagawa sa akin?" Inis na tanong ko sa kanya, "why are you taking everything that is precious to me?"     "Can't you see it, wife?" Tumayo siya mula sa pagkakaupo sa swivel chair at lumapit sa akin, hinawi niya ang ilang hibla ng aking buhok at saka ito inamoy, hindi ako kumibo dahil baka kung ano pa ang magawa ko sa kanya, "I want you, wife. That's why I am doing this, because I know that you'll be the one to come to me instead if I take all that is yours, guess I was right, but don't worry, there is still a way for you to have your properties back."     Tinulak ko siya ng maramdaman ko ang halik niya sa aking leeg, "Don't you dare touch me, Mr. Cassiopeia!"     Ngumisi siya, "I already touched you, wife, in every angles of your body, I already touched them. Don't you remember the moment when we first made love in our family house and how my hands had pleasured you?"     Namula ako dahil sa kanyang sinabi, "Just give me back my company, Tyrell." I won't let anybody take my company, it is mine. "Just give it back."     "No. Not that easily." Walang emosyong sagot niya sa akin, "but you can get your old company back in one condition." Ngumisi siya nang makita ang reaksyon ko, "marry me again, wife and I'll give your company back." He took my hand and inserted something in my ring finger.     Agad akong napatingin sa bagay na sinuot niya sa aking daliri, doon ko napansin na isang singsing sinuot niya sa aking daliri. "No, I won't marry you, Tyrell. Never!" I took off the engagement ring and threw it in Tyrell's face. Mabuti nga at nasapol ang noo niya. Tinalikuran ko na siya, "I'll find another way to take my company back, remember this, Tyrell. I won't marry you anymore, I won't marry a jerk again, I once made a mistake, that is suffice for me to decide."     Nakita kong pinulot ni Tyrell ang singsing sa tiles ng kanyang opisina, "remember this, wife. You'll be the one coming back and running after me, you'll marry me no matter what happens, that will always be the ending of my play. Marrying me is not a choice after all."     Like hell if I'll marry you.     Hindi ko na siya sinagot pa, lumabas na lang ako sa kanyang opisina at nagtungong elevator, hindi ko na kakayanin pa ang presensiya ng lalakeng ito na sabik na sabik ko nang suntukin sa mukha. He is really getting on my nerves.    Pagkalabas ko sa Cassiopeia Company ay agad akong sumakay sa kotse ko, doon ko na nilabas ang galit ko sa manibela ng sasakyan. "Peste siya! Mamatay ka na, Tyrell!" Inis akong napabuntong-hininga ng malakas.    Mariin kong pinikit ang aking mga mata habang nag-iisip ng ibang paraan para mapasa akin ulit ang aking kompanya. Hindi ko maaaring mademanda si Tyrell sa abogado dahil may hawak siyang ebidensya na bunga ng aking katangahan.    Habang nakapikit ang aking mga mata ay lahat ng mga alaala ko noon ay bumalik.    Lahat ng masasaya at masasakit...    "Let's divorce, let's stop this lie, Ty." Umiiyak na tugon ko.    Tinignan lang ako ni Tyrell, "suit yourself. If that is what you wish for, fine, I'll give you the divorcement that you want. Just sign this."    Tinignan ko ang papel na nilapag niya sa table, "just put your signature there, Dy."     Hindi ko na binasa ang kasulatan sa papel dahil sabik na talaga ako na ma-dissolve ang marriage namin ni Ty, after all the things I knew, sino ang hindi masasabik na mawala ang bisa ng kasal namin ng manlolokong ito?    "Good girl, Dy for signing." Ngumisi si Ty, "you're now my ex-wife."
