[PART 1: THE ROAD TO WAR – 0:30]
🎙️
"To understand World War II, we have to go back to the end of World War I. In 1919, the Treaty of Versailles imposed severe penalties on Germany – economic ruin, military restrictions, and loss of territory. The bitterness fueled extremist ideologies, and one man rose through the chaos: Adolf Hitler.
In Italy, Benito Mussolini promoted fascism. In Japan, military leaders sought expansion in Asia. The 1930s saw growing aggression – Japan invaded Manchuria in 1931, Italy attacked Ethiopia in 1935, and Hitler began violating the Versailles terms.
By 1938, Hitler annexed Austria and demanded the Sudetenland from Czechoslovakia. Britain and France, hoping to avoid another war, followed a policy of appeasement. But Hitler wasn’t done."

[PART 2: WAR BEGINS – 1:50]
🎙️
"On September 1, 1939, Germany invaded Poland. Two days later, Britain and France declared war on Germany. World War II had begun.
Germany’s Blitzkrieg – or ‘lightning war’ – used fast-moving tanks and air power to devastate Poland. By the end of the month, Poland was split between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union, thanks to the secret Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact.
In 1940, Germany conquered Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, Belgium, and by June, France had fallen. Britain stood alone.
But in the Battle of Britain, the Royal Air Force fought off the Luftwaffe in the first major air-based military campaign. Hitler’s first defeat."

[PART 3: THE WAR EXPANDS – 3:30]
🎙️
"Meanwhile, Italy joined the Axis powers. In North Africa, German General Erwin Rommel fought British forces in brutal desert battles.
In 1941, Hitler made a fatal mistake: he invaded the Soviet Union in Operation Barbarossa. Millions of German troops stormed into Soviet territory, but by winter, they were unprepared for the cold – and for Soviet resilience.
In Asia, tensions boiled. On December 7, 1941, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, killing over 2,400 Americans. The next day, the United States entered the war. The conflict had now become truly global."

[PART 4: TURNING THE TIDE – 5:10]
🎙️
"From 1942 to 1943, momentum began to shift. In the Pacific, the U.S. won the Battle of Midway, destroying much of Japan’s carrier fleet.
In North Africa, the Allies defeated the Axis at El Alamein, then invaded Italy through Sicily. Mussolini was overthrown in 1943.
But the real turning point came in the Soviet Union. At Stalingrad, a brutal siege ended with Germany’s first major defeat on the Eastern Front. Over a million casualties. It marked the beginning of the Nazi retreat.
Meanwhile, the Allies were planning a massive invasion of Europe."

[PART 5: D-DAY & LIBERATION – 6:50]
🎙️
"On June 6, 1944, D-Day began. Allied forces stormed the beaches of Normandy, France. It was the largest amphibious invasion in history.
Within months, France was liberated. The Allies advanced from the west, while the Soviets pushed from the east.
Germany was collapsing. In April 1945, Soviet troops entered Berlin. On April 30, Hitler committed suicide. One week later, on May 8, Germany surrendered. Victory in Europe Day – VE Day."

[PART 6: THE END IN THE PACIFIC – 8:10]
🎙️
"Even after Germany’s defeat, the war in the Pacific raged on. The U.S. began a strategy called island hopping, capturing key islands one by one. But Japan refused to surrender.
On August 6, 1945, the U.S. dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima. Three days later, a second bomb hit Nagasaki. The devastation was unimaginable.
On August 15, Japan announced its surrender. World War II was over."

[PART 7: AFTERMATH & LEGACY – 9:30]
🎙️
"World War II changed the world forever. The United Nations was formed to prevent future conflict. Europe was rebuilt under the Marshall Plan. But new tensions emerged – between the U.S. and the Soviet Union – leading to the Cold War.
Germany was divided. The h*******t revealed the horrors of g******e, prompting global vows of ‘never again.’ Japan adopted a pacifist constitution. And former colonies around the world began seeking independence.
The war had claimed over 70 million lives. It remains the most devastating conflict in human history."
