Chapter 1
“Are you excited baby?” I looked at my mum who was staring at me with squints of tears in her eyes.
“Mum stop being dramatic” I said with a roll of eyes.
“Our little baby girl is grown” My dad added from behind her.
“Ahhrrrggghhhhh!!! Dad not you too” I said dramatically placing a hand on my forehead.
“We know you love it honey” my mum said with a proud smile on her face.
“Let’s leave her to dress up” my dad pulled mum up gently into his arms, automatically placing a kiss on her forehead.
“Ewwwwww” I said dramatically as they left the room with a laugh.
As they left the room, I stood up to close the door.
Sometimes I just look at them and wish upon myself that type of love. They have been married for over two decades and still act like love birds.
With a sigh, I plummeted myself on the bed as I played around with the necklace sticking jealously to my chest.
The necklace is a constant reminder of my brother.
“Dylan? Why are you doing this?” I stopped him halfway to his room.
“What do you mean?” He said not meeting with my eyes as he did so.
“Why do you keep avoiding me?” I shouted dramatically fed up of the constant avoidance. We used to be extremely close. I looked up to him for everything, because he was always there for me for as long as I could remember.
“You’re being too dramatic Ivy”he said still not meeting my gaze. He put his two hands into the pockets of his grey sweatpants, something he did whenever he was nervous.
“Dyl pleaseeee” I said now with tears in my eyes. It seemed like my heart was tearing apart, and I couldn’t bear the pain.
“Stop it!!!! You know why? You are being a pain in my ass!! You are annoying and pathetic!! Get a life Ivy!!” With each of these words, my heart shattered into a million pieces.
I looked at him shocked. It was unlike him to do this. When his eyes finally met with mine, he had dark circles around his eyes, and his curly hair was disheveled as if he had run his hand through it several times, but I didn’t care.
I was hurt and he needed to know that, so I hit his chest so many times as I cried ugly, but he just stood there taking it all as if he deserved it.
Thinking back to that moment, I felt bad for him. I should have asked him what the matter was. I should have been there for him, but I wasn’t.
With another sigh I turned to look at our family picture sitting pretty on the lamp stand placed beside my bed and stared deeply into my brother’s eyes.
I miss him. I miss my brother’s laughter. I miss the moments we shared together. Sometimes I wonder if we’d be able to have those moments again.
A notification on my phone brought me back to reality. I lazily reached out for it and unlocked it.
“Are you set? It’s almost time” a text from Brandon, my best friend pops up. As if in sync, my wolf purrs softly as if just woken up from a nap. I can’t blame her as she gets to meet her mate tonight.
I sat up and looked through the window to the night. I hear a distant chatter from outside the mansion, which means I need to get my ass up.
Putting on my long red dress that accentuate my curve, obviously picked out by my mother. I turned to take a proper look at myself in the mirror. Making sure my make up is on point, I picked up my purse and left the room.
Walking into the dimly lit hall, I looked around in search for Brandon and Emily. Immediately I saw him, I saw Emily latched to him in a possessive manner.
“That took you long enough!” Brandon said with a smile on his face.
“Don’t tell me?! Oh my goddess!!” I looked at them in surprise covering my mouth with both hands. A smile from them both earned a small squeal of happiness from me, which of course caused a few people to stare towards us, but hey! Who cares?
“Awwww, finally guys!!” They’ve had a crush on each other for the longest time and it’s such a sweet thing to watch that the moon goddess put them together as a match.
“Now it’s time to find yours” Emily said sweetly with her tiny voice.
She has always been the sweetest of us. Her black hair and eyes might make her seem bold and maybe scary, but she’s such a sweet soul beneath all that.
“I wonder why you’re not excited to find your mate” Brandon said as I collected two shots of tequila from one of the omegas and gulped them down almost immediately.
“As much as I love love, love doesn’t love me” I said remembering the heartbreak from my brother.
Speaking of my brother, where is he? I looked around but couldn’t find him. He must be busy with his Alpha duties, or f*****g around with Eliza. The thought of this curls my inside and made my heart clench.
“I’ll see you g… ewww guys!!” I faked vomit as I saw them kissing with no apologies. I walked away quickly from the scene. I decided to go back to my room as barely nobody was left in the hall, only newly found mates attached to one another.
My walk back to the room was quiet as I dragged myself up the dimly lit stairs into my room.
As I entered my room I felt a presence, so I grabbed my purse tight ready to attack the imposter. I reached out to turn on the switch, and was ready to turn.
Immediately the lights went on, I was left in shock. The last person I thought would be in my room was here, seated like it was a normal thing.
“Hi Princess.” A familiar voice said in greetings from my bed.
