Silas POV:
She is f*****g rejecting me. I just know it. Eight f*****g years waiting for my mate and she’s f*****g perfect and she is about to reject me. My perfect mate led me behind the packhouse into a large garden. I’m sure it’s very pretty but all I can concentrate on is her tight ass swaying in front of me as she led me to my doom. Well at least I would have this image burned into my head before my heart was broken.
She led me deep into the garden where eventually the path broke up into four smaller paths with a gazebo in the center. I follow her into the gazebo. She didn’t sit, but instead wraps her arms around each other and bit her juicy bottom lip. f**k, I should be the only one biting those lips.
Meanwhile, poor King was whining inside my head. He knew what this looked like as much as I did, and it would break him. Please Silas. Don’t let her reject us. We can fix whatever is wrong.
I know King, I will try. She was hesitating. Which made me even more nervous. I wasn’t one to beat around the bush though. If she’s rejecting me. I want to know. Make it quick and clean, just like how I ordered my warriors to make their kills.
“Are you rejecting me?” I finally asked.
Her beautiful brown eyes shot up, even larger than before. “What? No! No I’m not rejecting you.”
Relief filled inside of me and Kingston howled with joy. “Oh Thank Goddess,” I replied and began to take a step towards her. She instinctively took a step away, and I tried to ignore the stabbing pain in my chest. She said she’s not rejecting me, but my mate still didn’t want to be with me.
“Wait, we need to talk first. Before we do anything,” she waved her hand in between us. “And when you’re too close to me. I can’t think.”
Oh ok. That made sense. She had the same effect on me. Of course I didn’t need to think to f**k her senseless in this gazebo, but clearly her mind was not on the same pathway as mine.
“Ok, what’s going on? You’re making me nervous.”
“I know. I’m sorry. I’m making myself nervous,” she let out a small chuckle. It was the sexiest thing I ever heard.
“I’m Leah,” she told me while leaning back against the bannister, “I’m the Alpha here.”
I nod my head. “I kind of figured. I’m Silas Davis. I’m Alpha of Fallen Oak.”
It was her turn to nod. Her eyes were filled with panic and I could feel the stress radiating off of her. I had to fight the urge to go and pull her into my arms, tell her everything would be alright. I know that wasn’t what she wanted right now.
“Listen, I know it’s different for you. But the council and the other packs here can’t know we’re mates,” I let out a growl, “Not yet. Not until we have a chance to talk.”
“Why not?” I ask, trying to keep the temper out of my voice.
“Because. They’re immediately going to turn to you acting like I’m not here. We wouldn’t have had a chance to have one f*****g conversation before they tried handing my pack over to you. And I’m sorry. But I can’t do it. I don’t know how this is gonna work. But I can’t give up Alpha or my pack.”
The f**k? That’s what she’s worried about? None of that even crossed my damn mind. Why would I want to take her pack? She wasn’t wrong this is about to be a logistical nightmare, but the Moon Goddess is never wrong. If we were meant to be, than we were meant to be, and the location of our f*****g packs wouldn’t mean a damn thing.
“That’s what you’re worried about? We will have to work out the details. But I never planned on taking over your pack. I haven’t even had a chance to think all of this through yet. All I could think about was getting you naked,” she blushed a little at that comment but didn’t seem upset. “If you want to wait to make our mating known, then that’s fine. I don’t really understand what’s going on here, but we clearly don’t have the chance to figure it out right now. But we will talk later. And you will be mine.”
She just nodded her head and looked away. She was chewing on her lip again. Damn, just the sight of it gave me an erection. I shifted uncomfortably trying to make room in my pants. I had a feeling I would be having a terrible case of blue balls for the foreseeable future. “Ok, we can talk tonight. After this meeting is over. This is too important for the focus to shift to us. Finding those kids and figuring out why they’re making an army is more important. But tonight we will talk.”
I sighed. This is obviously the best I’m going to get. But I was not leaving this gazebo without getting a chance to touch her. Something to hold me over. Before she had a chance to realize what I’m doing, I came up to her so I’m only a few inches from her delectable body. The smell of cinnamon and brown sugar filled my nostrils. Would I ever get tired of that smell? Probably not. She was pretty tall, but I still towered over her. Gently,I placed my hands on both of her arms and began rubbing up and down. Sparks flew and she shivered as goosebumps lined her skin. I got closer to her so that my lips were brushing her forehead. “You smell so good. Soon I will get to see if you taste as good as you smell.”
I back away as I could smell her arousal pooling in between her legs. I can’t suppress my smile as I walk away from my mate leaving her shaking just from my touch. She’s trying to play it cool, but I knew her feelings for me were just as strong as mine already were for her. I would just have to put in some work for her to come to terms with that. I was looking forward to the challenge.
Garrett POV:
With just the word “mate” my best friend and Alpha leaves me standing in the middle of the driveway in front of a huge ass packhouse. All of us left standing there after the girl, presumably the Alpha of Crescent Moon, led Silas back behind the house, stood there in silence, staring at each other awkwardly. None of us had a clue what’s going on.
Finally after a minute, one of the two guys who were standing on the front steps walks up to me. He has brown hair and blue eyes, a nasty scar across his left eye, and the body of a warrior. “Beta Johnson?” He asks me, “I’m Beta Michaelson of Crescent Moon.”
I reached out and shook the extended hand, impressed with his strong grip. “Hi, how are you?” I gestured behind me, “This is our lead warrior Nicholas Belham.”
Nick dipped his head respectfully, “Beta Michaelson.” The beta returns the gesture and then turns back to me, “I apologize about the informal introductions. Alpha Giammetti had, uh, urgent business to take care of.”
I snorted. It’s urgent alright. If I know Silas, he has their Alpha urgently screaming his name while his face was in between her legs. The Beta looked confused though, as well as their Gamma who had come over to introduce himself and I had a feeling their Alpha didn’t inform them what had happened.
“Do you know what’s going on?” I asked the pair.
“Not really. Alpha just asked us to cover for her.”
I nod. “Ok, well you might want to talk to her when she gets back, whenever that is.” I couldn’t help the grin. I was so happy for my best friend. I knew he had been hurting some after I met my Chelsea last month. He was happy for me, don’t get me wrong, but he was wishing he had what I had. And he would finally get it.
After another minute of small talk, Beta Michaelson and Gamma Ruiz inform us that we would be staying in a cottage out in their village and one of their Omegas would bring our bags to it, while a warrior would lead our warriors to their lodging. After we settled what was happening to our luggage and cars, the Beta invited us inside for refreshments while we waited for the rest of the packs to arrive.
Silas still wasn’t back, so I made my way inside. All of the packs that had already arrived were mingling in a large mess hall. Tables of food and drink line the back wall. I got a cup of coffee and a ham sandwich and sit down at one of the empty tables to wait for Silas to return.
I pull out my phone and saw two missed texts from Chelsea and couldn’t help the smile that spread across my face. I knew we were being ridiculous, but I didn’t f*****g care. I already missed her like crazy. I heard Silas enter the mess hall before I saw him. He walked towards me with a shell shocked look on his face. s**t. s**t. s**t. Why the f**k does he look like that? What the hell did that girl do to him? I never hurt a woman before and never really planned to, but f**k if she hurt him….
I stand up and meet him halfway. “Si. What’s the matter, are you ok?”
“I’m not sure.” He replies quietly.
“s**t, Si, did she reject you?”
That seemed to get Silas out of his haze. He shook his head. “No she didn’t. She wants me. I can see it. She just doesn’t know it yet.”
“What does that mean?”
“She’s worried what everyone will think. She doesn’t want to make our mating public until after the meeting.”
Oh that's it? He almost gave me a f*****g heart attack. “That makes sense.”
“It does?”
“Yeah. If you go public with your mating, that’s all anyone is going to talk about. But this should be about the missing pups and whatever sick f**k is creating this army. Not the drama hungry council and old Alpha’s sticking their nose in the two of your business.”
Silas smiled at me as he grabbed the rest of my sandwich and takes a bite out of it. “The f**k man?”
“Thanks Gar. I feel better now. Though I have no idea how the hell I’m getting through this whole damn day without touching her.”
“Yeah. Good luck with that.”
Silas POV
I couldn’t stop staring at her. I knew what was happening was extremely important. The council had suggested one big alliance between all the packs in the North East region. That way we could pool all of our resources and band together against this unknown threat. And it made sense. As seperate packs we were getting nowhere. More and more wolves were going missing and the attacks were becoming more frequent.
Of course an alliance between 52 packs is easier said than done, and the last hour and a half had been spent with everybody screaming over each other and making demands. I had tuned them all out about an hour and twenty minutes ago.
Damn, is my mate gorgeous. Her honey blonde hair hung over her shoulder as she looked down at her notebook. She’s pouting again, which I had already discovered was her annoyed face, and her nose was wrinkled. She’s clearly over all this petty bullshit too.
I wish she would look at me, just once. I know she could see me staring. But she was purposely avoiding me. I tried not to let it bother me. I understood why. But damn it hurt watching her from across the conference room table not even giving me a second glance.
“Alright enough,” my amazing mate boomed as she stood up and made her way to the center of the room. I could see the council members and some of the Alpha’s give her dirty looks but she didn’t spare them a second glance. She was using her Alpha voice, and f**k me, her aura was strong. It didn’t really affect me, but I could see quite a few of the weaker Alphas, and all of the Betas or Gammas including both Garrett and her own, flinch.
“This is ridiculous. We all came here to reach an agreement and come up with a solution to the problem that is plaguing all of our packs, not to argue over petty bullshit. This alliance is necessary to keep our race and packs from dying out with this threat or others in the future. We will all need to make sacrifices to make this work. Now is the time to suck it up, stop fighting, and come up with a real damn plan. What’s more important to you? Sacrificing some of your pride to help your fellow packs out or your pups that are being snatched from their home? Because I know damn well those pups are more important to me. So If you fools are done arguing we can get back to the important matter of saving our packs.”
I sat there with my mouth gaping open and my c**k rock hard. I knew I’d be dealing with blue balls all day, but damn if that wasn’t the sexiest thing I had ever seen. I had never been with a dominant female before. I always picked the quiet ones who would listen to everything I say. I would have never even dreamed that I would want to be with a woman like Leah. But the Moon Goddess clearly knew something I didn’t. This woman is my dream woman. And Kingston howling in my head gave me good indication he felt the same way.
I watch all the assholes watching her while she spoke. Especially that one fucker, the Alpha from Blood Moon, what’s his name? Jack something. I’m terrible with names and could never keep all of the ranked members straight. It was terrible. Liam always got so mad at me because as Alpha I’m supposed to know all the ranked members in my region. Well, that’s what Liam is for. He always kept them straight for me.
Anyway, that f*****g old ass Alpha kept staring at my mate like she was a piece of meat. His eyes were very decidedly looking at her chest as she was talking and I had to push down Kingston before he tore the guy apart. I only had a five minute conversation with Leah, but I was 100% positive she would not be happy if I shifted and killed all these assholes.
Well damn, Si, you really landed a good one. Garrett mind linked me If this was last year before I met Chelsea I would’ve made it my mission to f**k h-
He didn’t get the full sentence out before I let out a loud growl that rocked the entire conference room. Well, at least Leah finally looked at me. Even if she looked annoyed. “Is everything ok Alpha Davis?” one of the council members asks me with a sneer. They were probably so happy I made a scene.
I gave Garrett a look that could f*****g kill and he even flinched. Sorry man. I was just joking,
I knew that, but I couldn’t help how protective I felt of her already. “I’m sorry for the interruption. Please continue.” I didn’t give an explanation for my outburst, and had no plans to. Luckily no one asked, and soon the meeting continued with only half the amount of arguing as before.
Leah had sat down and went back to completely avoiding me for the next two hours. Well it was about to be lunch break soon and I would make damn sure she couldn’t ignore me then.
“Ok, we will break for lunch now. Everybody get something to eat and take some time away and we will meet back here in an hour,” the council member said.
As soon as the words were out of his mouth, Leah tried to make a run for it. Oh my mate thought she could avoid me? We will see about that. For the second time today her f*****g Beta touched her arm, pulling her back to ask a question. I bit my tongue. I could see how protective he is of her, and is only checking to see if she is ok. He meant nothing by it. It’s clear my mate hadn’t told her Beta and Gamma what happened yet. Why not? I get not announcing to the whole f*****g meeting, but her guys? I wondered what was up with that.
Well eventually she broke away from her team and quickly left the room. I saw her glance at me from the corner of her eye before bolting. I stayed seated for a minute, leaning casually back in my chair. I’ll let her think she got away from me for a bit. That is fine. But I had no intention of staying away. Smiling to myself I left the conference room and followed Leah’s sent down the hallway. I saw her Beta and Gamma watching me as I left but I didn’t care. All I cared about was seeing my mate.
