Thane

Sienna!,i shouted my mate's name in my head for like the hundredth time,something had happened to her not that things had not been bad before. First she ran away from me claiming that she could feel Anna starting to take over her mind. Okay claim was a wrong word to use cause it suggested that she could be lying or that i didn't trust her. And i dont have any doubt in my mind that Sienna had been telling the truth. I think somehow she had started to sense Anna,after all it was the work of dark magic and no one really knew the side effects of it. I was just so furious with her. When i get her back,i was going to spank her all night long for daring to pull her running away from me stunt,which resulted in her getting herself into trouble. Because clearly my little one needed a firm hand. How could she think leaving my side had been the best solution. I guess she was trying to protect me in her own way. Yeah that was probably why,but damn! I had not want us to separate at all. Its not like she was going to succeed in killing me. Giving me a blow or two maybe,but definitely not a fatal one. I was after all immortal and there was a reason why i had lived for thousands of years and still thriving. Thou with black magic at work,anything could happen. f**k! I still wanted her by my side despite the chances of her hurting me but the little hellion had ignored me,quickly put on her clothes and headed for the door in a blink of an eye. She knew she had a headstart because i had been still in bed and naked too. By the time i got up and fumbled my way through my sweat pants,she had already been running out the door and no matter how much i screamed her name she had not stopped. Which resulted in infuriating me more. In her rush to protect me,she had failed to realize that she was also putting herself in harm's way. Anna wanted her dead,she had told me that multiple times and i believed her too. That was one of the things that was driving me insane,her vulnerability. Or could she have known that she was putting herself in danger but decided to run anyway. All to protect me. Had she picked my life over hers? Oh s**t,knowing her i bet she did exactly that. I love her so much,i absolutely cannot live without her. If she dies,my soul will perish with her. Whatever soul i have left considering im a vamp. My point is that it would be the end of me. I did not want to be in a world without my mate.

That explosion had made everything worse. When i had finished dressing and had taken only half a step. Yeah half,considering one of my legs had been still in the air. The room went boom all around me. Obviously the bomb had not meant to kill me,only stall me long enough for something to happen and im guessing that something had to do with Sienna. Which meant that Anna was involved. Not that i had not known it when the bomb exploded. The bomb had been not a technical one but a magical one. Clearly Anna's work. She had made a soul bomb i guess. I had heard about soul bombs a long time ago,that they were powered by human souls. And hers reeked of dead human souls combined by dark magic of course. By the time i had found my way through the smoke and blocks of stones,Sienna had been nowhere to be found. Considering the bomb only hit my room,i had guessed that she had not been injured by the explosion, probably startled. Thou i have to say its as if Anna knew that i had been left alone in the room. I know that woman is bat s**t crazy but she would not kill Sienna so easily. She would want her to see the fear in her eyes when she killed her. That's how i concluded that,she must have kidnapped her. With all the chaos the explosion had made,no one had been paying attention to intruders or Sienna. And to make things worse all the attention of my men had been on me,which had infuriated me when i had noticed that Sienna had not been with them.

I had quickly ordered Phil and most of my trusted warriors to mobilize. Because we were going to war. No doubt Anna had her magical minions as soldiers but that did not mean i should not go prepared. My man can hold their own even against black magic. Now we were dressed for battle and trying to figure out where she could have taken Sienna.

"Could she have taken Sienna to her house?" Phil,my second in command asked.

"No. Her house is not the kind of scenery that she would want Sienna to be in,considering how much she hates her." I replied in a gruff voice. *No matter what,do whatever you can to survive little one. For me,for us,for the love we share. I will find you* I projected to her through our mate bond but i was only met with silence. The calm silence that suggested that she was unconscious or worse,dead. I refused to believe the latter but it still scared the s**t out of me. I was going to hold on to the thought that she was still alive. But for how long? No,i wont think about that yet.

"Do you have any idea where we can start to look your highness. We cannot just stand here." One of my man asked. And yeah standing here without doing anything was not an option. But i needed somewhere to start our search. We cannot just roam aimlessly in the jungle. Wait,the jungle. That's it. How could i have forgotten the freaking jungle.

"Get ready everyone. We can start looking in the jungle?"

"The jungle?" Phil asked,confusion evident in his voice.

"Yes the jungle. To be precise,near the Choruba huts. Its where she held me before." I was met with silence because everyone knew about the Choruba huts,legend said that,the huts were habitants of soul specters. That if you go into the huts the soul specter would claim your soul and eat it slowly and painfully. It could take hundred days or more for the specters to consume your whole soul. But it was labelled the most painful way to die. Not that i was going to let the legend stop me from saving my mate. I had been near the huts and i came back fine. Fair enough i had not been in them and they had been at least a mile away. But still,nothing soul shattering had happened to me.

My man and i climbed our vehicles. And headed for the jungle. We could have easily used our super speed but we did not know the kind of situation we were going to face there,so exhausting ourselves was not an option. Thou irritating,the vehicles were useful. We reached the jungle in a few minutes and climbed out,we had to walk now because the noise that the vehicles made was interfering with our super hearing. And we need to hear everything,we were now in a war zone. After taking about ten step deep into the jungle,a crow flew towards us and landed on a nearby tree branch. I guess that meant,she knew we were here. As if confirming my thoughts,a few other crows flew towards us and each land on a branch towards the way we were going. Sort of like they were guiding us,letting us know which way to go.

"f**k!" Phil mattered. f**k indeed,she did know we were coming and was leading us to where she was. We continued following the line of crows and there she was,right at where she held me before. She was sitting on some kind of chair,i dont remember seeing any chairs when i had been here before. I could see the choruba huts and she was surrounded by creepy magical animals,rodents,snakes. Anything you could think of. And were those skreelings,the famous underworld creatures. Oh those were going to be harder to kill than all the rodents. The only way to kill skreelings was to burn them or cut their head off. Not to talk of how fast they were. I guess the animals and the skreelings were her army. This was going to be not so easy. I did not let it show thou,i remained stoic and started to smirk only for my smirk to die when i spotted the woman who was lying down in a pool of blood,a few feet from Anna. Sienna,my little one,she was not even moving. What had she done to her? It could not be too late,no way was i going to allow her to die on me. I broke into a speed towards my mate and just like that,the war began.

Huge snakes blocked my way in an effort to stop me from going to my mate but i was fusnand i wanted to be with my mate,nothing was going to get in my way. l drew my sword in quick move efficiently cutting off the head of the snake that was to my right. The two more that were in my way snarled,clearly indicating their anger at my recent action. I had probably killed one of their family members. Well they can all go to hell for all i care. One of the two snakes,wrapped their tail around my legs,catching me off guard and causing me to trip. With my super speed i managed to save myself and just in time too because the other one came straight for my head. I quickly dodged and swang my sword at the coming attack,successfully cutting off the head of the second snake. One more to go. And it was not happy by the way it was snarling now. Clearly it was saying it was going to stop playing nice. It came straight for me,its intent clear. It wanted my head but too bad for it,i was not planning on dying today. I held my sword facing it forward. Pointing it to what i was aiming,which was the snake and i threw it at it,successfully plunging it in the snakes neck. The snake turned into ash and disappeared. That's was new i didn't know thats what happened when you kill them. And sure enough,i could see a pile of ashes around me and my man. All the rodents and creatures turned to ash. I scanned my man to see if anyone was hurt but they were holding their own just like i knew they would.

In a few minutes i was by Sienna's side. I sat down and quickly scooped her up to hold her in my arms. She was so cold but she still had a faint pulse. And i could clearly see a snake bite on her neck. She had been bitten and poisoned by a snake conjured up by black magic.

"Dont leave me alone,little one. I need you more than you know." I whispered to her. Hoping she could hear me. I needed to get her back to our home. One of the healers would be able to help. They will help. I refused to think of a world without my mate. "I love you so much. You cannot leave me when we have just found each other."

"Oh poor Thane. Leave her she is already dead. You can have me all to yourself." Anna said,in a seductive voice. Or her version of a seductive voice which did nothing for me other than infuriating me more. Sienna had ruined me for anyone else. She was it for me and i would not allow her to leave me just like that.

"Your highness,you can go. Take our queen to the healer. We will kill the black witch." Phil said bowing.

"No one is going anywhere!" Anna shrieked. "You all are going to die here and Thane leave that b***h or i will do worse to you for daring to reject me for the second time." When i didn't respond to her and continued to hold my mate. She said,"As you wish,May you rot in hell without your mate"

Anna whispered some magical words and then suddenly the jungle went dark. Oh she was going to go full black witch on us wasn't she? I held up my held giving my men a sign that said be prepared. I knew they could see me. All vamps had night vision. Anna was just being dramatic by summoning darkness all around us. But it felt like the jungle was closing in on us.

Suddenly there was shaking on the ground. Where was the shaking coming from? It felt like an earthquake but not quite. Suddenly the darkness cleared but the quake like continued. It sort of was coming from like a mile away. Oh s**t! the Choruba huts. As if everyone including the black witch had heard my thoughts,we all focused on the huts at the same time. Realizing that this was all our end. No one survived the specters. Once they sinks their claws into you,they never let go.

Just then a specter. Wait! specters flew out of the huts and were heading straight towards us. I just tightened my hands around my mate. I would not avoid this fate,i wanted to be with my mate and i would die with her. Sienna had successfully brought the vampire king to his knees. My man all dived on the ground as the last resort of defence. But we all knew that,there was nothing that could help us. In a few seconds we were surrounded by darkness again but the darkness felt different,ancient. The specters were all around us. I didn't move or anything,accepting my fate. A scream full of agony tore through the darkness,i jerked my head up to notice that the darkness had cleared and the witch was nowhere to be found. I checked on all my man and all of them were there,still lying on the ground. I kissed Sienna on her forehead,she still had pulse. Wait,she now had an almost normal pulse. I looked at her neck and saw the snake bites healing themselves. Oh what the hell was going on? Not that i was complaining that my mate seemed to be getting better. But where was the witch? And the specters? Another scream full of agony filled the jungle and my men and i turned around to look towards the huts. And just in time to see the black witch surrounded by the specters,actually they were already feeding on her. They seemed eager. How i knew or saw that,i would never know. They disappeared into the huts,followed by another scream full agony and another and another and another.

"Your highness. Lets go." Phil said shaking me out of those screams that were still occuring. I quickly checked on my mate to see the snake bite was almost not there.

"What the hell happened?" I asked

"We are not quite sure your highness." Phil replied.

"Your highness." One of man said,bowing " remember thousands of years ago when we heard the legend about the Choruba huts. There was also a speculation that surrounded the legend and judging by what's happened here. I think its safe to say the legend is true."

"What was the speculation?"

"That specters were attracted to black souls. Souls full of so much evil. And the witch,not only was she using black magic,she was also evil."

Oh yeah,i remembered hearing about that now. The black magic had made the witch a beacon and combining that with her evil intentions had made her a magnet. The soul specters could not resist. Which is why they had came out seeking for her. What a terrible way to die. Not that i was feeling pity for her. She landed herself in this mess. Holding onto a man who didn't love her. I carried Sienna in my arms,she was still unconscious and for her quick recovery. I guess i had the specters to thank for that. The more they sucked the black magic out of the witch,the more my little one healed. Black magic plus snakes created by black magic plus a poison also created by black magic,was a lethal combo but then remove the black magic. No poison,no snakes and no black witch.

Sienna

"What the hell is taking so long?" A voice growled. Wait i know that voice. That sounded like Thane,my love. I tried to ask why he was growling but i did not manage to open up my mouth or eyes. Wait,why cant i move or talk? What happened to me? Oh yeah Anna had happened,her kidnapping me and ordering one of her huge snakes to bite me. I remember loosing my self to the darkness but i could have sworn that i had heard Thane speaking to me through our bond. Telling me to do whatever it takes to survive but i had not had time to be sure if his voice had been real or that it was my imagination before the darkness took me.

"Your highness please." A female voice said. It sounded like Pamela,the medical doctor.

"Dont your highness me. I want to know why my mate hasn't woken up yet. Its been two weeks already. And im loosing my mind without her." He growled again.

"She is healing."

"You said that two weeks ago. Enough is enough,wake her up now!"

"Your highness."

"Get out! I will wake her up myself and in my own way."

"Your highness,please dont do that. Give her one more day please." Pamela begged on my behalf. I just needed to move. Because i was now conscious and i could clearly hear them. Why couldn't i open my eyes thou? I want to see Thane. I missed him so much.

"Forget about one more day. I cant give her one more minute."

"Your highness its....."

"Get out now Pamela!" The man bellowed. " I will not be repeating myself again." I heard foot steps moving away from me and a few seconds later,the door opened and closed softly. Leaving me alone with my angry mate.

I felt the bed dip beside me indicating that someone had sat on it. Soon fingers started caressing my face and it felt good.

"Wake up little one." Thane mumbled so low that if i was in a noisy place i probably wouldn't have heard him. "Im losing myself without you. I have not been able to sleep or do anything important because you are not by my side. Why wont you wake up for me?"

I could hear the pain in his voice. He was heartbroken. And why couldn't i wake up. I wanted to be with him and assure him that i would not leave his side ever. I felt lips kissing my forehead,cheek,nose and eventually my lips. Oh how i missed him. Wake up Sienna,i urged myself again and again but i could not open my eyes. I heard Thane sigh and set himself beside me on the bed. I eventually fell asleep.

I jerked my eyes open instantly and set myself up on the bed. Thane was not beside me anymore. But something had made me come out of the limbo i was in. I had sensed a threat in the room. Clearly i was still a bit out of it because no one would dare enter Thane's room much less when im in it. I rubbed my eyes a few more times to clear the fog that was still in them when i felt it. A sharp object almost pressing up to my neck. I was about to turn around and see who was holding a knife to my neck. When a thick voice had me frozen.

"Trust you to wake up when someone is holding a knife to your neck."

"Thane!" I exclaimed turning around to face him. I quickly jumped up and threw myself into his arms.

"Little one." He sighed. Indicating he was relieved. We held each other without speaking for a few more minutes. Feeling each other's heartbeat and trying to make up for lost time even for a bit. You would be surprised what a hug would do to someone who you love and who loves you.

"Why were you holding a knife to my neck?" I asked pulling myself from his arms.

"I figured if something was going to bring you back to me from wherever you were. It was going to be your survival instincts."

"So you decided to hold a knife to my neck?"

"Yes." He answered without any shame. Which made me chuckle because i loved the freaking vampire king who didn't hesitate to threaten my life to bring me back to him.

"I love you Thane." I said kissing him all over his face making him chuckle too.

"I love you too little one. And never do that to me again. Im nothing without you."

"I wont. Now we begin our lives together."

"Together." He agreed.
