The Infirmary
***Back to present***
"Lexi, we remember this part. You say it wasn't much, but they allowed the pack nurse to suck so much venom and blood from you, you passed out and went on some type of mind trip to visit some demigod."Janet said, bringing me back to the present.
"Yeah. You had a hard time recovering because you were so drained and the witches took you back to their coven. Then once you healed, you decided to run off and become a superhero." Bria said.
"No, B. I'm not a superhero at all..." I said, sipping the last bit of my glass of wine. "Trust me, life would be easier if I was the hero of this story. I'm not meant to be a hero. Not now... not ever. This is a destiny I can bring anyone else in."
"Wait, what does that mean? I mean I get you have had a bad relationship history. I didn't know you went through all that with your mate, but you're a complete badass. Especially after you brought down the whole Inimicus Clan. I'm sure it's hard to be put in such high esteem and all, but babe, don't limit yourself. Yes, your mate was an... you know what, never mind him. You've been like this for years. Since you came back. All you do is work, care for your pup and your pack of hybrids. You have to stop limiting yourself." Janet said.
"You don't know the half of what I went through with my mate. He's only alive because... I mean things may seem one way, but if you knew everything...just know I'm no hero. I don't need to bring someone else into my mess. You don't want to know how that story ended for real." I said, setting down my glass.
"Well, I have another bottle. So let me fill up your glass and grab some more snacks. You can tell us before the boys get back." Janet said, walking into the kitchen.
"Yes Lexi. This is your girl's that you are talking to. Please talk to us." Bria pleaded.
"It's a lot that happened. All the pain I caused still lingers within me. It's a constant battle I have to fight to remain in control of my emotions. Are you sure you want to know?" I asked.
"That's what friends are for. You've been carrying this burden alone long enough. The therapist that you refused to go to did say you needed to talk about it to someone... Don't look at me like that. Yeah, EJ and Sam snitched on you after you blew up the training field a few months back. That's why we make sure we have these girls night in to give you a safe space to unload. You would do anything to protect us. Just let us be there for you and help you carry whatever this is, since you refuse to get a man to take your frustration out on ...in bed, Miss Madam. " Bria said, giggling and wrapping her arms around me.
"Oh so you're going there.."
"She's a very freaky girl... I'm just kidding," Bria sang before I hit her with a pillow.
"No pillow fights! You two are arguing like my boys" Janet yelled, walking into the living room. "So I made a quick charcuterie board and brought two bottles of wine. Will we need tissues also?"
"Probably, but let's fill these glasses up first, then Lexi can explain what she is if she is not a hero." Bria said, handing my glass to Janet and filling a plate with meat, cheese and crackers before handing it to me.
I took a deep breath and a large gulp of wine before looking at my girls and answering, "I'm a supervillain. One way worse than my grandmother could ever dream of being. I lost control badly and took so many lives. I destroyed so much."
"What! What are you talking about?" They began to question my statement.
"Listen, listen. My mom explained years ago the difference between a hero and a villain is how they react to their trauma. There is a hunger, a bloodlust for vengeance inside of me. Once it's awoken I found out I have a hard time controlling it. Let me explain...."
***Back to the story****
After giving as much blood and wolf-vampire venom as my body would allow, I felt weak. The extraction mask was removed as the machine monitoring my vials started to alarm. I felt movement in the room around me and hands touching me, removing the needles in my veins. I felt the cord with the IV fluid being messed with. I was aware of it all, but couldn't respond. My body was asleep, but my mind was awake. I was aware of everything until I felt a summoning. This was different from what I had ever felt before. My consciousness was being pulled in two directions. Both callings were loud like an alarm and I couldn't tell who was pulling in what direction.
I decided to answer the closest pull first.
"Circa! Circa is that you?" I asked the darkness. "Selene.... Goddess is that you?" I asked, not knowing who was trying to contact me.
"Lexi..." I heard a faint voice call out.
"Nicole? Is that you?" I asked, confused.
"...run Lexi. They're coming for you. Run.." .
"Nicole, what's wrong? Where are you?"
"You need protection, Lexi. They got me. There was an attack. Despite being pregnant, I fought. I'm hurt...but I'm okay for now, just weak...I don't know where they're taking me..I'm looking for clues but am so tired...they said they want you too. I don't know why."
"No! Don't fade. Tell me where you were. I will try to lead someone to you. I will try to come myself but there was an attack here, in my cousin's park as well. I've been helping all evening and just need to recover."
"They didn't find you there... Good. Go and save your pup... I don't know where I am... I was traveling investigating something with the case and there was an ambush.."
"Okay, got it. Can you tell me what you see?" I asked.
"Stars..." she said in a drowsy tone.
"Stars? Like the sky? Are you looking up? Ugh I wish I wasn't so weak and could bring forth my consciousness more to see what you're seeing... Stay with me... No, please wait, No... Nicole, I'll be back. I'm being pulled. I think it's the goddesses... stay with me Nicole. I need you to reply."
"I'll try..." She said. I can feel the weakness in the connection. I just hope she will be there when I can come back for her..

"Alexandria! It is time, young enchantress. Rest now you have a battle ahead of you. They are approaching!" I heard the melodious voice of Circa say in an urgent tone.
"Madam Circa. I am not ready. I'm still with child. I haven't been able to find the clan yet. How will I be able to defeat them?"
"We have confidence in you. You will know what to do. Be strong my child.."
"I will try, but what about Nicole? She's been helping me and is not in the best condition right now. She's in distress."
"You will only be able to save those you are destined to save. You have long been chosen for this task. Have confidence in your abilities, stay focused and remember not to allow the power that comes with your gift to consume you for evil." She said before closing the connection and putting me back into the room my body was in.

"It's okay, we will take her from here. The council will have her transported somewhere safe", I heard Xavier, my mentor from the council say. I wonder how long I've been out for the council to be here already.
"But sir, her vitals.." someone, possibly a nurse said.
"Yes, I know. It's fine she'll be teleported. Our machines are ready for her." He says as I feel my body being lifted in his arms.
"What about her brother? He's in much better condition. He's just being monitored but should be okay to leave soon." the person said.
"He's not under our employment. We have no need for him. He can stay and help get things together for this pack." X tells the person.
"Well, I'm coming with her." I heard Amhurst say in a determined tone. I can feel the irritation coming off of X as she says this. I wonder if this was part of her vision she had earlier today.
"No, the pack needs you here. You and your team have been doing a great job healing." He says, trying to convince her to stay, but I can sense she's not going to ease up on it.
"Reinforcements are here. I've pledged my allegiance to her, allowing her to command me as her personal servant. I must go with her." Her lie combined with the nervous energy coming from Xavier alerts me. I tried to open my eyes to see what was going on, but for some reason, I am still too weak. I almost felt like my body had been drugged, but my consciousness was still active. This most definitely was part of her vision.
