"Pssst... hey wake up."

"What? Who? Lexi? I thought I severed our bond. How are you doing this?"

"I am still carrying your pup. We are connected through him. We need your help. I'm in a weakened state and don't know how long I can hold this connection, so I need you to listen while I'm connected."

"Of course you need me."

"I don't need you. Well, not really. If it was just me I wouldn't have a problem getting out of here, but I need you to help me help our pup. The council is going to try to take YOUR heir from me. They are trying to detox my system from blood and have put magical binders on me to keep me weakened. They think the Alpha King's Beta female is carrying our pup's mate. If she looses the pup, it will cause me to go into labor. Do not let that happen. I am too weak to fight them off and they want to take our pup. They are going to run all types of tests on him and basically make him into a weapon that will be used at their will."

"You're telling me that you are bound to her? I can't make any promises. She's our meal ticket. You just can't let them take our pup. Where are you? My pup is not going to be used by the enemy." He asked with a protective sense of urgency.

"Please, for your pup, just don't let anything happen to her. I just want to protect our pup too. It's not time for him to come yet, and I just need to gain strength. We need you to just help me plan a way out as soon as I figure out where I am. "

"Are you feeling any labor pains coming on?"

"No, not yet. My head is throbbing and I feel nauseous. I haven't been strong enough to move around yet, but I think the pup is fine."

"Just take care of my pup. I will come for him. Do you think you are at the Council's headquarters? No, you wouldn't be able to mindlink me so far. Wait! I rejected you. How can you link me? Only high-ranked Lycans have that ability."

"It's not a mindlink, it's a partial mental teleportation. I'm only partially able to inhabit your mind. We are connected because of our pup being in my womb. It's the same way I am connected to Nicole. I don't know where I am, but you should be able to use your senses to track us. You should be able to connect with our pup. I was weakened trying to restore my cousin's pack after your group attacked it. Look! I don't know how much longer I can hold this connection. I feel it weakening. Will you help or not?"

"Yes, I have always been one that has a big heart for the weaker ones. Plus, I'm sure you will be able to think of a way to repay me. We had so much fun creating our pup, didn't we? Did you get my message in the pack before you left?"

"Nope. And unless it's about our pup, I can't say I would be interested in much you have to say. I am not f*****g you ever again, so get that out of your head!"

"Oh, you are interested. Why else would you be here waking me up in my sleep? Now that you see who the true enemy is, it should make it easier for you to join the superior side. I may even allow you to warm my bed frequently while you are here. Those yams were pretty tasty. Can you see my thoughts? Oh, it was so much fun when you were in this position. Admit it, you enjoyed it too."

"That...will... never... happen!" I managed to say, allowing my irritation to seep through before the connection was lost.

Coming back to my body in the room, I noticed there was a new presence. A powerful aura. Not a wolf, a sorcerer, or a vampire. I slowly opened my eyes and through the momentary blindness of the light I made out the figure of a man. I blink a few times to try to make the blurriness disappear.

"Ah. You're finally awake, my dear. I'm Dr. Adrik. I've been monitoring your vitals. Looks like you have been busy with conversations tonight. Who is it you're talking to?"

"Wha.." I rasped out before going into a fit of coughing.

"Oh, I'm sorry. Here, take a sip of orange juice. That should be enough to give you an energy boost."

"Thank you. My wolf. She's very talkative."

"Really? Well I'm sure she's trying to figure a way out of here. That's not a good idea, little wolf, if you are listening. It's far too dangerous. If it gives you some comfort, I'll make sure you have the best care possible. You will remain comfortable not needing anything as long as you don't try to fight us. If you become violent and are seen as a threat, your stay may not be so pleasant."

"Doctor, I need blood. Human. My head is throbbing and I still feel so weak. I'm sure you can see from my medical history it has become something I take as regularly as prenatal vitamins." I said, trying to gauge how helpful he would be.

"Here. Take a sip of this. It should help the headache."

"What is this?"

"It's a concoction created by vampires to help seduce that blood craving. It's typically used for new bloods. Your body needs to detox. According to your medical history, you only developed a craving once your pup became big enough to suck the nutrients from you. It's supplemental. You can survive without it. We will feed you the nutrients you need and headaches should subside. You are in the early stages of labor, so you will need to be on bed rest and there is no need to worry about your energy level."

"Doctor, I'm only four months pregnant. I still have two more months. How am I in the early stages of pregnancy?"

"Trauma is the short explanation. And fortunately, the gestation of a wolf pup is only 6 months. Compared to a human pregnancy, your pup is at the developmental stage seen during the final trimester or about 7 months. Your physical condition is not because of the work done on the pack. The alarm was triggered when our sensor detected the early stages of labor," he explained.

"What do you mean your sensors?"

"Oh you didn't know? Well, it's in your contract you signed when resuming your employment after that little mishap with your mate. You agreed to allow us to spellbind you, so if you were to encounter any life-threatening medical conditions while pregnant we would be alerted. Your pregnancy just so happens to fall along the lines of an event the council has taken interest in."

"Why is that? I'm just a normal hybrid."

"Keep telling yourself that. Humility is a good quality. Not too many hybrids have crossed our path with as much power as you. We're all excited to see what traits your pup has inherited. I wonder if he will be born with the strong Lycanthropy genes like his father. Your craving for blood already lets me know he will inherit many of your traits from your vampire line. Between me and you, we really don't know how strong of a sorceress you are. It would be wonderful if he could enchant or whatever it is you inherited. I'm going to make sure we will do our best to keep you calm so we'll never have to see your full strength. Oh no.. calm down. I can sense your apprehension. Yes, we do plan on taking your pup for testing, but rest assured, we do plan on keeping you as well for his upbringing. You'll be nursing him and bonding with him as much as possible. There are some things a mothers bond is necessary for."

As he said those words I felt a calmness spread through my body. Calming with his touch and the ability to sense my emotions. He has to have some empathic abilities.

"Doctor, you have access to my full history, right?"

"Yes. Why do you ask?"

"My history should clearly indicate the threat of being held captive does cause me to have anxiety due to past trauma."

"I am aware of that. You were in therapy before going to training at the academy and we don't want to cause any unnecessary stress on your pup. We are not going to let you roam freely, but you won't have to feel as though you are being held captive as long as you comply. Don't worry about that for now. Stay calm." he said, sending another wave of calm.

"I don't like this at all. I just hope that parental bond will be enough to incite our baby daddy"

"I know, but the more he talks, the more we know what's going on. I'm trying to figure out what type of supernatural he is. His aura is like none I've encountered before, and I can't get a sense just from his scent."

"Oh, you want to know if we could feed off of him."

"That and if we stand a chance against him in the weakened state that we are in. I wonder if I can get him to confirm our location."

"So how's your headache?" The doctor asked, removing the empty cup from my hands.

"Much better, thank you."

"Good. Your little wolf is trying to peek through your eyes. I notice there's still a conversation going on between you two. Is there something she's curious about?"

"Yes, she was just asking me what you are? You don't seem like a hybrid, but I have never encountered any supernatural with an aura like you."

"Sure you have. Well, my nephew Domenic is a hybrid like you, so he didn't have as many of the fairy magical traits as he has physical characteristics. He's more wolf than anything. You two live in the same district and are close in age, so I am sure you have met him or my nieces."

"Domenic? I met him at my first District Convention. I don't remember him or his sisters feeling as powerful as you are."

"No they definitely are not. His youngest sister doesn't have any detectable traits, but the older one is mostly fairy. I'm what I guess you wolves would call an Alpha in my troop. I have inherited generations of magic being alive for over a century. You should know they would not send a weakling in here with you enchantress. I'm sure you have noticed the guards, they've all been protected from your abilities as well. So tell me why did you bring the witch?"

"She's family. I don't think I've been on this floor of the Interspecies Council Headquarters. I didn't even know they had observation rooms like a hospital."

"I'm sure you haven't been down here. Most of your business is on the third floor. You're actually at a level below ground. It's a fully functional hospital facility with some of the best specialists in their fields working for us. As I'm sure you can tell, I am an OBGYN. I specialize in complicated births and have a lot of experience with wolves as well as other supernatural species. Your parents have been notified of your condition and will be traveling to visit you tomorrow morning. They won't be able to visit you alone, unfortunately. All we ask is that you rest some and don't cause any trouble," he instructed.

"Trouble? Like what? Tell them I'm being held captive?" I questioned as I felt warmth creep through my body.

"Well yes. Don't do that. You have to think about their safety. Look, we are not the bad guys here. We are only doing this for the safety of all species."

"And what does that mean? You think I could harm ALL supernatural species? Doctor, all I've been trying to do is live a nice quiet life. I don't want to harm anyone. I know you don't believe me. I've been told stories about the uprise caused by my grandmother. Do you think she would have done that if she had just been allowed to love the man she was mated with?" I yawned out, surprised at how tired I was becoming.

"You think that was it? She only wanted to love her mate? She was an enchantress. I'm sorry sweetheart, your grandfather may not have been your grandmother's mate. She seduced many men and women in her day." He said as he began walking towards the door with his tablet. " We will be moving you two soon. There is a suite being prepared for you. Someone will get you in for breakfast in an hour or two hours. Try to get some rest."

I had a hard time keeping my eyes open as I watched him walk out the door. It was at that moment I realized there was a sedative in the mix he had given me. The mixture did get rid of my headache and cravings and the calming waves he had pushed through earlier gave my body a warmth that continued on. My body demanded sleep and I allowed myself to drift off.
