6 The news was passed up the chain and neither Wilt nor Higgs heard any more about the Prefects or the Sister until some days later, in the middle of the Greystone harvest festival. The festival was a two-week celebration of trade and plenty, a time when debts were put on hold and disputes forgotten. In the past the town had seen kings and queens make Greystone their home for the festival; nowadays the most prestigious visitors to share the duke’s residence were members of the capital’s merchant guild. But that didn’t stop the town from celebrating, and it didn’t diminish the festival’s most important event: the battle for the flag.
