The day had finally come and Alpha Brian was making the final announcement to the senior pack committee. He was going to leave later at night when everyone was in the confines of their beds because he didn't want anyone to know where he was going, to avoid the risk of them following him.
Everybody was not happy with Alpha Brian's temporary exchange of power but when they heard the reason, they backed him and he was happy that they did. He would not have been able to live with himself if they didn't.
"I leave you guys in good hands, with the man that was there for both me and my father whenever we needed him. My uncle, Charles Lockwood." He took the hand of his uncle and raised it.
The rest of the committee rose their hands up reluctantly, which made Alpha Brian feel a knot in his stomach. He gave them a sad smile before he took a step back for their temporary new king to speak.
"I know all of you here are used to having Alpha Brian as your king, and I respect that because out of all the leaders the Aurora pack has seen, he is the most outgoing and successful Alpha we have seen. But nothing lasts forever so while he is out there in a quest for his mate, we are going to live in prosperity and harmony, which I could offer this pack." Charles said to them like he was reading off a script.
He had dreamt of doing that for so long and now that it was time, he felt it come out in the most unnatural way possible which made everyone doubt him. After he was done addressing them, they exchanged their goodbyes before Alpha Brian and Charles left the pack’s hall.
"Have you packed enough son?" He asked, placing a hand on Alpha Brian's shoulder on their way to the palace.
"I am not going with too much Uncle, just a few necessary things and cash." He answered as he slowed his pace so his uncle caught up with him.
"You are not going there to serve as an Omega are you?" He asked, feigning horror when he clearly knew that Alpha Brian wouldn't reach his destination.
They both had everything they needed for his assassination. They planned on dissecting his body after they were done bludgeoning him to death, then feeding him to the pigs in the pack so there are no traces of him whatsoever.
"Of course not Uncle. Anyways if I don't find her after a few weeks, I am moving to the next pack because I don't have much time to waste."
Charles nodded, "I respect that." He said as they got to the palace. Alpha Brian got in and strolled to his room before he got out his carry-on that was loaded with his necessities and some cash.
He gave his bedroom one last look, knowing he was going to come back there after a very long time, and the next time he would be in it, it would be with his mate that he planned on spending the rest of his life with. He smiled at the thought before he sauntered towards the door and left.
He was found with an ecstatic-looking Maria by the door, "Goodness, Maria!" he exclaimed. "What are you doing here?" He asked rhetorically because there was no way his sister that convinced him to do thus would let him go just like that without seeing him off.
"You really took my advice B." Her smile grew even wider, and that melted his heart. He loved seeing his sister smile. If he could watch something every day, it would be his sister's smile because it made him content with himself.
"I took your advice Maria, I am going to make you proud." He dragged her to his chest and she gave him a bear hug.
"I am going to miss you so much even though we don't meet all the time." She giggled as she let his figure go and kissed his cheek.
"I am going to miss you too, even though we don't meet all the time." He replied.
"Now go before it gets too dark. Don't forget to search well and don't lose hope because good things don't come easy," she advised, letting go of his hands. "Goodbye brother."
"Goodbye sister." He said finally before he headed downstairs.
He met Beta Louis and Charles facing each other in the sitting room and once they saw him, they turned to him.
"Good bye cousin, good bye Uncle. Treat my pack good while I'm gone." He bid them a farewell, not passing the look his Beta was giving him.
He looked like he going to cry and be sick all at the same time. He didn't know why he looked like that, probably because he didn't leave the pack for him or that he would miss him while he was gone.
"Have a safe trip Brian." He waved at him.
Alpha Brian nodded before he gave the sitting one last look before he left. Once he left the vicinity of the palace, he covered up his face with a mask because he didn't want the little people that were left outside to recognize him because he was going through a path where he was bound to.
After he passed the area, he removed his mask and tucked it in his bag before he started his journey. The closed way that led to their neighboring back looked fresher than ever, with very little wolf interaction so everything was conserved and blooming.
He felt as if he was just taking a walk down to clear his head because he still didn't believe that he would be in another pack by the next day. He had never travelled without the title of still being a royal in the Aurora pack.
Nature was very beautiful. The sounds of insects chirping and the half-moon that shone very brightly today lit up his mood and a sense of euphoria washed over him. The feeling was very strange. He had a feeling that he was going to meet his mate today because he had never felt that way in his life.
When it started to overwhelm him, he decided to sit down and rest on a tree because his legs were already killing him. He was just a few minutes away from the neighboring pack, but he didn't want to go just yet. He wanted to go there when his body and senses were alert, because the pack didn't have a very good reputation, or at least that was what his people said about them.
He took in a deep breath before his eyes closed, and he gave in to it.

Beta Louis and Charles had their weapons ready since the day before Alpha Brian was supposed to leave the pack. They had it all planned because they couldn't risk their plan going to s**t. It was their chance to make their life-long dream come true, so they would be stupid to play with it.
They had been stalking behind him since he left the palace, and they were waiting for the perfect chance to attack. They both had their masks on to conceal their faces and had a bag Beta Louis hanged on his shoulder where they kept their weapons.
"Isn't he going to stop?" Beta Louis whispered, rolling his eyes because he was starting to get too tired from stalking behind him for so long. They made sure to keep a reasonable distance because, like them, he was a werewolf too so he had advanced senses.
Charles placed a hand on his son's mouth, signaling him to keep shut because they both didn't know when Alpha Brian was going to notice them and turn to attack. They kept walking for a very long time before Alpha Brian stopped. Beta Louis's heart stopped with trepidation as he had expected Alpha Brian to turn to look at them but he didn't.
Instead, he laid his back on one of the huge trees and looked like he was about to sleep. Once they noticed the rise and fall of his chest had increased, they started to stalk towards him. Charles made sure to give him a hormonal pill that was going to make him feel giddy inside, and it seemed like it has started to work.
Once they were close enough, Charles brought out the baseball bat in his hand and swing it at Alpha Brian's head. His body trembled with trauma as he yelled out in pain, his eyes opening up sharply as he brought his claws out in defense. He ripped Charles's flesh away as he tried to stop him but he wouldn't stop.
Before he opened his eyes to recognize the attacker, Charles had hit him so much that there was no way he would be alive after it.
"Do you hear that sound father?" Beta Louis said, terrified at what he was just witnessing.
"What sound son?" He asked, holding his injured hand in pain as he tried hard to not let out a cry of pain.
"It is getting closer." He warned, looking around in panic. Charles grimaced as he had gotten his nephew's blood mixed with his, and it was now sprayed all over his body.
"We will have to dissect him first." He said, disgust feeling his being at the thought of it. He hated him, but this was also the first time he had killed a relative of his. It was killing him, but he was determined.
"We will be exposing ourselves if we stayed here any longer." He dragged his father's hands and dragged him towards the direction they just came from.
The woods were very quiet so even the littlest sound could be heard, which was an advantage for them because they couldn't risk another person seeing them doing that to Alpha Brian even though they were all covered up and would be the last suspects because they made sure to find strong alibies.
"Who will feed him to the pigs then?" He turned his face abruptly to his son in annoyance.
"Hello?" They both heard a lady's voice whisper which made them tremble with fear.
Before they knew it, they were on their heels back to the pack, praying that he had died and all their problems have gone away, not just starting while they just tried getting rid of him.
