Chapter Four
Moving to a new house could be exciting, but moving across the country to a house she had never seen, to a husband she didn’t know, had left Annie scrambling to find her footing.
She heard the front door click closed and men chatting, then noticed Sean and his friend Zac come in. Zac was a former marine: tall, handsome, with dark hair, a badass attitude, and a scarred face. Annie was still dumbfounded by the change in Sean, though. On the outside, he was the same tall, dark, and handsome man she’d married, but he was far from solid and dependable now. He’d changed, and if anyone asked, she wouldn’t be able to tell them exactly why.
“Sounds like a plan,” Sean said to Zac, clearly unaware Annie was standing behind a box in the corner of the kitchen. But Zac’s gaze was astute
