Death's Embrace

It is said that humans have an instinct that is based on the need to live. Humans are constantly evolving, never satisfied with how far they have reached. Don't quote me, but I believe the average human regularly think about dying. Not on a suicidal level, but more on the how will I die level. I'm sure you have thought about that at least once or twice. It was a simple question, one I've toyed with for the most of my life.  Would I die in my sleep? Or maybe get hit by a drunk driver, stabbed in an alley or a victim of home invasion. It was a constant matter of when and how. And although I've thought about death this extensively, an enormous part of me hoped I lived a rather normal and lengthy life. My friends always told me I was a bit pessimistic, always overthinking and that eventually what I put out into the universe will return back to me tenfold. I would laugh it off and shake my head. It would soon come back to bit me in the ass.  Because no matter how much times I've thought about it, dreamed about it, I wasn't prepared...
