CHAPTER 18: Lunch

As lunch time approaches I start to get nervous. my heart is beeating at 100mph literally and it feels like I'm going to vomit.
I can't shake the feeling that something is not right. Why would Max want to go to lunch with plain ole me. I'm literally a Nobody. Well I'm not a nobody I'm somebody, just a nobody to somebody. Oh my God I'm freaking out
I'm pacing back and forth, then I go to stand in front of the mirror. Looking at my eyes they seem to be an even brighter green today. I really need to talk to my mom. I have so many questions. Leo, Mia and I haven't been back through the tunnels. I told them that Alex and Kai knew about our night out and that scared them a bit. They didn't want to get into trouble. But I need to go back. I need to go tonight.
I'll talk to them later about that. Then I'll find a way to talk to my mother. What's so crazy is the school is full of dragons but no one ever shapeshifts. I've been thinking about it. I need to talk to Alex about that as well.
What is going on around me. My reality of this world and New life is coming at me full speed. I sit down in front of my mirror. How is any of this real? It seems like a dream and a nightmare at once. I'm surrounded by literal Gods & Beast. And to hit the nail on the head I'm the God of the Beast apparently.
A knock on the door snaps me out of deep thought. Its Leo. "Wassup Leo?" I ask. he usually doesn't come at this hour, he's always to busy studying.
"Umm Jade I don't think you should go on the lunch date with Max"
"Why not?"
"I don't think he have good intentions with you "
“What do you mean by that?”
“I think he only likes you because of your body”
“So am I ugly Leo?, nevermind I knew it was too good to be true. I am ugly... honestly I thought maybe this school would be different. I guess it's just the same.” I go lay on my bed getting under the covers.
"No Jade you're absolutely gorgeous, I don't know I just don't have a good feeling." he says coming to sit next to me on the bed.
I peek from under the covers. It's ok Leo I was having a bad feeling too but if I just go off of gut feelings I won't be able to grow up a little bit. If anything is off when I go I'll just leave.
"Ok just be safe, Ill be here when you get back" he says as he gets up to leave.
I only have 10 mins until this lunch date. I go for something calm and simple. I pick out a cute red top with some distressed skinny jeans, and lastly my red Low top vans. I decide to wear silver jewelry. Some small hoop earring and my Pan charm bracelet.
As I'm walking out Mia is walking to my door.
"Hey bun" she says giving me a hug.
she calls me bun now I'm not sure why I'll ask her one day.
" Hey I'm headed to lunch with Max" I say not trying to show her I'm freaking out
" It's ok Jade you're beautiful, don't worry I'll be here when you get back" she says
" Ok I'll see you later" I start to make my way to my Car.
The spot is off campus so I can't just walk there. Its a 15 min drive.
I turn on some music to calm my nerves.
As I arrive I decide to sit in the car for a min or two.
"Just be yourself" I tell myself
I spray some perfume on I got for my birthday and put my hair into a ponytail.
I head in.
I look around and the restaurant isnt busy at all theres about 5 booths being used.
I don't see Max yet so I pick a small booth. I sit facing the door so I can see him coming in.
" Hi what can I get started for you today?" the Waiter comes up and ask me.
"Oh I'll get a sweet tea please. I'm waiting on someone before I order food"
"Ok 1 sweet tea coming up" he says before walking to the back of the restaurant.
5 mins pass and some guy walks over to my booth
"Whats a pretty little lady doing here all alone?" he asks
" Oh I'm waiting on a friend.. he should be here soon"
"Well do you mind if I keep you company until he comes?"
"Umm... no sorry." I say looking away from him.
He has the smell of alcohol in his breath and it's not even 2pm
"what you mean no?" he ask slapping the table.
My heart starts to beat a lil bit. I honestly don't know why, I train with beast daily. I could probably take him in a fight. But I'm still not good with confrontation.
" She said No.. now back away"
I look behind the man and see Max standing there.
For a 20 year old young man he's stand head to head to this man who seems to be in his late 30s.
But 1 difference is Max is way more built. You can see his muscles through his white fitted tee. The Man doesn't seem to be in shape at all but he's got some weight on him.
"Lil boy who you talking to?" the man says getting into Max's face
" Hey sorry about this, Let's go" he says walking around the dude and grabbing my hand.
The Man didn't like being ignored so he grabbed Max
Im surprised I caught what Max did next. But the man is laid out on the ground in the blink of an eye.
He kneed the inside of the man's knee which cause him to buckle them he hit him hard in the chin. Knocking the dude out cold.
We walk to my truck " Hey do you want me to drive?" he asks I look around for his car. "Yes please" He opens the door for me. Then goes around to the drivers side.
"Hey Jade I'm sorry I'm late. My car went out 15 mins down the road So I ran here" he says looking over to me. That explains him having no car.
"I know this wasn't what you thought it was going to be, I apologize for having you wait on me. Especially having a creep talk to you, I'll make it up to you" he says.
" It's ok Max, it's not your fault your car went out or the creep" I say looking down at my hands. I can't lie he makes me nervous.
"I already made up my mind, we'll grab something quick to eat since we don't have that much more time for lunch and I'll take you on a proper dinner date tonight"
he pulls off in the direction of his car.
As well pull up to his car on the side of the road he gets out.
He comes back over with his hands behind his back.
"This is what I went to get you before the lunch date."
He brings his hands around. It's a tiny green bear and flowers
"Awww Max this is so cute and thoughtful"
"Yeah I didn't want to crush your flowers on the run so I left them here safe and sound. I'm glad you like them" he says.
He hops back in my car and we head to grab a quick bite for lunch
Then he drives me back to Campus
"What about your car" I ask him.
"Don't worry about it. I'll get it towed to a shop." he says.
he walks me back to my room
"Ok 9pm sharp, wear something nice, I know you'll look beautiful" he says before kissing my hand and giving me a little bow.
My heart is literally beating so fast and loud I know he hears it.
"Thanks Max and ok 9pm sharp see you then"
He turns and leave.
I go into my room and immediately scream at the top of my lungs.
Causing Mia to jump out of her sleep.
Yes she's in my bed
"What's wrong Bun" she says looking around ready to kill someone.
“Nothing is wrong. Even doe we didn’t have the date technically it was perfect” I say before laying on my bed.
“Well I’m glad you’re happy” she says before snuggling up next to me and going back to sleep.
