"Marriage? Do you mean he wants you to get married?" Will asked as he opened a brand new bottle of wine that had been placed on the shelf. With two glass cups in his other hand, he approached Din.
"Before the end of the month," Din finished as he watched his pal approach him.
Will threw the cups down and filled them. He handed one to his buddy. "That's fantastic news. Right? Beth is someone you've always wanted to marry. I'm surprised your grandfather has finally accepted her."
With a shake of his head, Din expressed his discontent with the situation. "That's the issue. He wants me to marry someone else, not Beth." He took the cup of wine in his hand and downed it all at once.
"If not Beth, who else?" Do you have any ideas or Are you in love with someone else right now?" Din's cup was refilled by Will.
Din shook his head. Disagreeing with his friend. "I told you earlier that two people would get on my nerves. Right?" Will smiled and nodded. "One of them is my granddad."
"I'm aware of that. And what about the second?"
"Jessie. She goes by that name." Din remarked. He almost drank the wine all at once again when his friend snatched the cup away from him,
"Please, sir." Will knocked Din's cup to the table. "Who is Jessie?" "Did you meet any hookup girl named Jessie?"
"I'm going to marry Jessie. She is the girl my grandfather chose."
"What? Is she a random girl? That's incomprehensible."
Din clasped his hands together in front of him. "No! Williams, this isn't great! He recently told me that I had to marry her without my permission before the end of the month. "How could that be?" Din was the one who asked.
"If the girl agrees, it's doable. Is she attractive? Is it okay if I look at her photos?" Will raised a question but was met with Din's frown.
"Not funny, brosef," Din shifted his gaze away from Will and drew the cup back toward himself. "I haven't met her yet but she is not all that from the photograph I saw. Everything revolves around Beth."
"You should have declined then. You had the option of telling him you didn't want it. What do you have to lose by refusing your grandfather's request?"
Din scoffed and shifted his sight to his pal, who returned his stare. "The company Williams. The f*****g company!" "He didn't request it. He commanded."
"Oh."
"Yes! He threatened to take the company away from me, which enraged me even more."
"What?" Williams enquired.
"He said he'd pass it on to Henry,"
"No..."
Din gave a slow nod. "I'm mad and I need to become drunk, so please let me at least drink." He drank the entire wine from the cup, which he had placed in his mouth.
Will felt sorry for his friend. He was about to be dragged into a marriage that he didn't want.
"When you called earlier, you mentioned you wanted to show me something. What exactly is it?" Din was the one who inquired.
Williams recalled something. "I got some things for Vegas and I thought we should go there to have fun but now that you told all these stories about your grandfather forcing you into an inconvenient marriage, I believe you will need this more than I do."
"Can you tell me what that is?"
"I've purchased tickets to Las Vegas, and you must attend the party to get this image out of your head." Will took a few steps forward and unlocked his drawer. He returned to his friend with two tickets in his hand. He strewed the tickets on the table. "There you have it."
Din gave a shaky nod. "I'm sorry, but I can't go." I have to go to work."
Will took the ticket from the table and bestowed it to Din.
"Don't worry about it; you'll be back tomorrow morning. It's just a party, and you can drink whenever and whatever you want. It's a place where you'll feel more at ease."
"Vegas?" Din examined the ticket in his hand. He considered how nice it would be if he could leave LA for just one night and get drunk in Vegas to get his mind off things.
"Say it a little louder." Williams let out a sigh.
"Vegas!" Din yelled.
"Yes!! Let's get started." Will yelled as he stepped away from the stool and grabbed his coat. "I'll take the wheel." He took Din's car key. "Come on, come on."
Din followed his friend out the door of his workplace. It was only for a few hours. It wouldn't harm to go. What was the worst that would happen in a night? What was the worst that would happen in Vegas?
***
They had a four-hour drive ahead of them. Din remained perfectly silent throughout until he peeked out the window. It was a vibrant city. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, as the adage goes.
"I told you your mind would be at ease when we get here," Will smirked as he came to a complete stop. "We've arrived."
Din unbuckled his seatbelt, opened the door, and exited the vehicle. He looked around. It was a lovely city with a plethora of lights.
"Please, don't make me laugh. We don't want to be late for anything." As Will led the way into the hotel, he jiggled the keys in his hand. Din trailed close following. The security guard who was stationed there opened the door for them.
They both went to the front desk to reserve a room. The male receptionist took their information and issued them their room keys.
Will noticed two women giggling as they approached the ATM on their way to the elevator. "Holy s**t!" he exclaimed quietly.
Din said as he stepped inside the elevator, "Come on, Will." Will, who was still staring at them, didn't appear to notice what his friend was saying to him. His emphasis had shifted.
"Will?"
"Come over here and have a look at this." Will extended his hand to his friend.
"Can you tell me what that is?" Din inquired as he exited the elevator. Will made a gesture toward the females who were withdrawing money from the ATM.
"What are your thoughts on communicating with them? The one on silver appears to be my style." He gave Din a quick glance. "What do you think?"
Din let out a sigh.
Will exhaled and rolled his eyes. "Whatever occurs in Vegas remains in Vegas. You don't have to tell Beth you hit on a female. It'll only be for tonight." Will smirked and turned his gaze back to the ladies.
Din had no intention of following his friend's advice. He was and will continue to be a faithful man. He cast a glance towards the lady who had been pointed out by his friend earlier. There was something about her that drew him in. He acted as if he recognized her from somewhere but couldn't recall where. Her smile appeared to be familiar.
"I'm going to give it a shot." Din drew Will back as he made a step forward.
"f**k me!" Din exclaimed. His gaze remained fixed on the lady in silver.
"What?" Will gave him a sidelong glance as he stepped away from Din.
With a shake of his head, Din articulated his displeasure with the circumstance. He cast a peek towards his friend. "Not you," he said. His gaze returned to the lady. "I'm familiar with her."
"From where?" Will asked. He shook his head instantly. "Doesn't matter. Given your familiarity with her, you should say a few kind words for me. Let's get started."
"Wait." Din took him in his arms once more.
Will inquired, "What is it again?"
"That's Jessie," He declared his issue.
Will asked, "Is that the same Jessie?"
"No, that was the Jessie I f****d the night before...Jessie is, of course, the same Jessie." Din cynically stated.
Will returned his gaze back to the ladies. "She isn't as awful as you made her out to be. She is also not unattractive." He returned Din's stare. "f**k s**t, she's a ten," Will pointed.
"Then get married to her." Din answered, Frowning.
Will scowled. "If I could, I would," Will mumbled.
Din's frown remained as he concentrated his attention on Jessie. He despised her from the moment they met, and he will continue to despise her even after they are married. He took a step forward and hit the elevator button. "Will you please hurry up?" He entered via the open door.
"Come on, dude. You can't say you despise her. What if she is also unaware of the marriage? What if her parents set her up as well? She seemed to have her own thing going on tonight, based on how I looked at her."
"Why isn't she aware of what's going on? She had to have been aware of my existence all along. She must have known I'd be here tonight since she came after me."
"That isn't what I believe is going on here. To me, it appears to be a casual coincidence."
"Coincidence? I laugh."
The elevator door slammed shut. Both of them were able to get down. "I'll see you at the club at nine o'clock. Be courteous to her." As he walked out to his room, Will clapped Din on the shoulder.
Din found his room as well, and the first thing he located was the restroom. He walked inside after opening the door.
Jessie was fiddling with her zip. She noticed a man's form standing in front of the bathroom door when she looked in the mirror. Din and she both started screaming. Both of them screamed incessantly.
"Shhh. Stop yelling." Din put his index finger to his lips. He breathed after commanding. His eyes were fixed on Jessie's. "Did you have such a strong desire to marry me that you followed me here?"
"Excuse me?"
And there was a look of bewilderment on Jesse's face.
