"I belonged in Washington. Where he was that was my home!" Brenda Aaron had a few meetings. His parents were flying in for the wedding event. And I had yet to get the wedding details finished. The wedding was coming up soon. What was wrong with me? My sister knew what she wanted for her wedding day. Why did I not know? Maybe because I never assumed I would end up marrying the man of my dreams. So I gave up dreaming about a wedding. I had given up on weddings all together. I needed to go to the store and by some wedding books. Magazines to get ideas. That way I was ready to be planning the wedding of a century. I mean this was Aaron. A billionaire. And we were going to be in the spotlight. I tried not to over think on it. But it was true. All eyes were going to be on me because I was marrying him. I had to be ready. I had to be prepared. I had to not mess this up. Or embarrass Aaron or myself. That was going to be the tough one. Not embarrass myself. I was really good at doing that one. I go to get my purse and head to the store. When I open the door there stands Aaron's parents. • ❤︎ •• ❤︎ • "Hiiiiiii!!" exclaims his mother. Then before I know it she was hugging and kissing my cheeks. Aaron's dad hugs me too. "Where was that no good son of mine? Could he not pick up his mother from the airport?" grumbles his mother. "Oh he had a meeting. And I forgot about what time you guys were coming. I am so so sorry" I gush out. I feel my cheeks turn red. "I am so happy you are marrying my son. For years he could not stop talking about you! I knew it was mean to be" she brags. I let her come inside for a bit. "Want some cookies? Tea? Coffee?" I ask her. "Sure both would be fantastic" she tells me. "Tea? Or coffee?" I wonder. "Botg would be grand" she says. "Both it is" I giggle. They come into the kitchen. I begin to make tea and coffee. I get the best cookies out. "What your not going to bake cookies? I always baked cookies for my little Aaron every day after he was out of school. He loved pecan sandies. You better learn to cook honey your man will need home cooked meals and when you both have kids they will depend on momma" says his mother. "because I am not out in Washington to do it" she grumbles. "I can cook" I muster up. Somewhat. "Nothing from the microwave" she adds as she shakes her finger. "come on over one day. I will share Aaron's favorite recipes and you can take them home and learn them" "Alright. I would like that" I say. I place the Pepperridge Farm cookies out for them and soon the coffee was done. His mother had tea and his dad preferred coffee. "Thanks to Aaron we saw all 50 states" she brags. "he sent us all over. I bet he has a wonderful honeymoon planned for you two" she tells me with a wink. I blush. "I bet he has knowing Aaron" I laugh. I go to eat a cookie and find his mother looking at me. "Better not dear. You want to fit in that wedding dress" she teases. • ❤︎ •• ❤︎ • I blush then feel bad for eating a cookie. So I set the cookie down. His mother was starting to get on my nerves to no end. But I had to deal with it until after the wedding was over with. "When is Aaron going to be back?" wonders his father. I glance over at the clock. "I am not sure. Another half hour" I tell him. My parents come in. I sigh with happiness. I was saved. "Mom, can you chat with the Winters? I need to run to the store?" I whisper to my mom as we stand in the doorway. "Need a break?" she jokes. I nod. "Yes!" I say. "Go right ahead" she tells me. "Hello!" she greets my future in laws. I head out the door after I get my purse. Then head to the store. I buy some bridal books. Magazines. Though I had most of them already. Then once I had my little break I head back home. By that time Aaron was back home. He hugs me then kisses me. "Sorry I was not there when they got here early" he apologizes. "Am I a bad cook?" I wonder. "No what makes you say that?" he asks me. He looks confused. "Your mom was a little mad at me for not having fresh baked cookies out" I sigh. "Oh babe I am sorry. She just likes baked cookies. Her mom was a baker. Her mom before that was a baker. Comes from a long line of them. But when I was a boy she was kind of disappointed because she wanted a girl to teach to cook" laughs Aaron. "Poor Aaron" I giggle. "your mom offered me cooking lessons" I tell him. "Oh Brenda" he chuckles. "I have dinner reservations for us for tonight" he says. "Don't we have to eat with your folks?" I worry. He shakes his head. "No" he tells me. "they are way to tired from the flight" he explains. "come on go out with me" he begs. "If you say so sure" I agree. He kisses me. • ❤︎ •• ❤︎ • I drop my books off at the house. Let my parents know we were going out for the night. Then Aaron drives me in his car he had over at his parents house. We head into town. He takes me to a fancy Mexican place. He lets me order whatever I want on the menu. And drinks. "This, this is nice" I giggle as I enjoy my drink. "Just what the doctor ordered" he teases with a wink. "I am so sorry that I did not cook it for you" I laugh. "this meal" "I do not expect you to be a wife like the ones from the 1950's" he adds with a laugh. "Good because you won't get that" I warn him. "I am content with what I have. We do not have to try to change to please anyone but ourselves. And if we are happy with one another that is all that matters" he says to me. He was so sweet. "Aaron you mean that?" I gush with joy. He nods. "I sure do Brenda." he answers. He holds my hand as he looks at me from across the table. I could not wait for the wedding now. Soon images of us saying "I do" were playing in my head. I knew suddenly because of him how I wanted my wedding to be. "What did I say something wrong?" he worries. "No you always know the right thing to say at the right time" I point out. It was true. He sure did. • ❤︎ •• ❤︎ •• ❤︎ •• ❤︎ •• ❤︎ •
