Rediscovered

Chapter 12

We couldn't find Jake anywhere in the house. We gave up and sat in the living room watching movies. Sarah seemed on edge most of the time. It was about dinner time now and I was starving. Sarah had made us some sandwiches for lunch earlier, but I am still hungry but didn't want to be rude. So now I was feeling like I haven't eaten in a week. The movie we were currently watching ended and just as Sarah was about to get up I stopped her. "Where is Jake?" I look at her and she sighs as her shoulders fall. "He needs to come clean with me since no one else will, do you know where he is?" I ask. "He has been training all day while trying to come up with how to explain things, he is scared how you will react." I shook my head, "why does everyone think I am weak? Just come out with it already."

"We don't think you are weak, just... I will take you to Jake." She said before standing and moving me towards the front door. Once we were outside she parked me at the steps and turned towards me. "Ready?" She said as she bends down as if to pick me up. "I know you're strong, but you can't possibly carry me..." She effortlessly picked me up bridal style and started walking towards the woods "what was that you were saying?" She said while chuckling at my shocked face. "You and your brothers are weird." I stated as this made her laugh more.

We walk through the woods for a bit and I start to see a clearing coming to view. There are some benches at the edge of the clearing where Sarah sits me down. "Just prepare yourself, they are coming, but don't be afraid." She said. We sit there for a few minutes before she stands and looks out across the clearing. "They're here" she says as I follow her gaze, at first all I see are trees and some birds flying about. Then some movement catches my eye and out comes a dozen wolves walking towards us.

I held my breath and reach out for Sarah's hand. She looks down to me and smiles. "It's okay Mar" she whispers. There was a black wolf that seemed familiar and he was larger than the rest, he stops and the rest follow his lead. He snaps his gaze towards us and lets out a soft growl. The hair on my arm stand and I was expecting to feel fear. There was none, I wasn't afraid as I look into the wolf's eyes. He stares at me and his ears fall back as a he slowly approaches. The other wolves stay back and just kept looking between me and the one coming up to me.

The larger wolf was right in front of me now. He sits and lowers his massive head down as I reach out to touch his fur. As soon as I do I can feel familiar Sparks and quickly pull my hand away. I look at Sarah and she just nods her head back towards the wolf. But when I turn to look at the wolf he was gone and Jake stood in his place. "What the f*ck!?" I yell out and I hear laughing from Sarah Jake and a bunch of other people from behind Jake. I glance around him and noticed there are no more wolves just a bunch of men. They were all staring at me. "Marlene... There's something you should know about my family..." He started to rub the back of his neck before dropping to his knees to be eye level with me. "We are werewolves and you are my fated mate..." He said the words and I heard him and saw this with my own eyes, but I couldn't believe it. I started to laugh. They all looked at me with puzzled eyes, when I heard someone say "she must have lost it." I snap my gaze to the person who said this and he looked surprised that I heard him. Jake let out a growl as he turned to look at the men. "You are all dismissed, Blake I will deal with you later." He said then turned his gaze back towards me, "Well, I guess this could have been worse." I say more to myself than anyone else "what do you mean by fated mate?" Jake smiles at my question and takes my hands into his "Do you feel this?" he asked. "By this you mean the sparks? Then yes" I responded. "Those sparks are one of the ways fated mates recognize each other. You and I are meant to be together, think of it more like soulmates but with more divine intervention." He said and I thought about this for a moment "If y'all are werewolves then what creatures are after me? Because I don't think y'all would get involved in human affairs." I asked and he sighed. "Vampires" Jake said, they looked at me waiting for a response but I simply nodded my head. We stayed like that for a moment before my stomach made a loud grumble noise. Jake smiled, "let's get you something to eat my little mate." My eye snapped to him, I don't know how I felt about him calling me that, but he looked nervous and I decided to played it off. "Food sounds amazing, I am starving!" He relaxed and smiled.
