Prologue
It was a gloomy and dark night; the sounds of nearby sirens of an ambulance quickly passed by a glossy black-painted convertible with the powerful wind from the speed causing the hair of a man named Lon Bryce to get pushed back, flowing somewhat to the side of his head. Lon seemed calm as he didn’t press on the brakes while the ambulance passed, but everyone else who was driving nearby stopped until it was out of the way. He not only didn’t stop, but also began to gain a high amount of speed going easily from forty mph to ninety mph in the blink of an eye. Sure enough, a highway police officer had seen Lon speeding as he began to turn on his police sirens following in Lon’s tracks. Lon simply looked to his right view mirror, seeing the highway patrol officer right behind him.
He then tilted his head straight back up again, turning the car to the side of the highway so others can pass by as he began to shut off the car by the turn of the keys. The police officer immediately approaches the convertible as he looks into the car holding onto it with his left hand. Lon calmly looks at the officer as he began to talk to him. The police officer says, “You know, I’m sure you know how fast you were going. So let’s just make this easy…” A pause had occurred as the officer took out his pen and started to write him a speeding ticket. Lon Bryce suddenly took off his black-sleek like glasses, putting them into the car cup holder as he took out his wallet, pulling out four hundred dollar bills, holding it with just two of his fingers near the side mirror on the driver’s seat. He went on to say “I’d love to stay and finish the party, but I’ve got to go. Go ahead, take this and buy something pretty for yourself” as he then quickly threw out the money from his hand into the cop’s path as he put the car in drive starting to take off.
The officer didn’t even have enough time to react as he was surprised that had happened. Once the officer came back into his senses, which was fairly quick, he had tried reaching for his radio to call for backup realizing that it wasn’t there at all. The highway patrol officer rushed to his car getting inside of it trying to find him on any of the streets by driving around the area but never did. By this time, Lon Bryce made yet another fascinating escape from the police department. Lon continued to make his way along the highway going from Denver, Colorado to the known City of Chicago for a vacation. Meanwhile, in New York, a young woman named Abiah Emory also was planning on traveling to Chicago the same day. Her room lit up as the bright lights from the light switch was clicked on while Abiah Emory walked in looking a bit frustrated from her daily problems in her life. She heads towards her bed, gently throwing a black bag meant for clothes onto the bed, glancing at the alarm clock of hers, which showed the time: 9:03 at night. Abiah sighed saying to herself, “I need to get out of here and fast. Now…. Where are my keys?” as she looked around the scene. She notices her car keys on the cabinet right beside her beginning to pick it up and head out the front door of her house right after packing her clothes for the travel and locking the door as she left.
The dim lights of other houses from a distance away shined a bit of light onto her freshly red new Nissan as she walked outside with the bag of clothes in one hand and the car keys in the other. Abiah goes to get inside of the car, putting the bag into the back seat, then getting into the front driver seat starting the car and begins to drive off. She makes her way to the New York airport, where a private jet was waiting for her arrival. Once there, Abiah finally meets the known bar owner, Nathen Cord, who is waiting inside of the private jet for Abiah to enter. She parks the car nearby getting out to make her way into the jet. As soon as she got inside, she smiles at Nathen and sits down next to him putting the bag of clothes onto the floor. Nathen Cord was seen crossing his legs with a bottle of light colored wine in his right hand looking at her. Another person came in right behind Abiah closing the door to the private jet as they began to prepare for take off. After the take off, Abiah looks at Nathen saying “So, why are you so interested in having me to join your bar staff? I mean… I thought you guys were already packed as it is knowing there’s no other popular bar in Chicago.” Nathen gains a small grin as he took a sip of his wine putting the glass of wine onto the table. Right after that, he begins saying “I hear you’re the best bartender around. It’s fair to say that my bar deserves only the best staff for it.” Abiah then realizes this guy is the real deal compared to what previous job was like.
She grabs the bottle of wine pouring herself a glass and goes on to say, “Well then we’re both in luck I guess. I get to get out of the hole I was living in and you get to have one of the best bartenders around.” as she chuckled looking at the glass being poured into her small wine bottle. Once it was done being poured, she looked back at him as he replied, “Oh yes and I’m very sure we’ll get along well together don’t you think?” as he uncrossed his legs into a more comfortable position. They both smiled at the same time after Abiah said “Oh I don’t think about it, I know for sure we will.” The private jet was continuing to give a smooth calm ride to Chicago where the bar was at. They both sat there talking to each other for some time as the night went on. The ride had lasted long enough to make both, Abiah and Nathen eventually fall asleep. They slept for some hours until the ride was interrupted by the shrieking sound of the private jet coming close to ground level of the Chicago Airport closing taking out it’s wheels to land. Once landed, they both woke up and began to make their way to Luxi Bar where Nathen is the co-owner of it. Seeing that it was still night time Abiah made it clear she wanted to go to sleep soon so Nathen suggests a four-star hotel close by where she can stay the night. He goes on to get into his car midway and stops, looking back at Abiah saying “Alright. I guess this is it. You’ll be there in the morning I assume right?” as she looks back at him, nodding from a small distance away and they begin to go their different ways.
Nathen gets into his car soon enough driving off into the distance as Abiah calls a taxi ride to the hotel he mentioned which was called Central Loop Hotel. As she reached her destination and went inside of her already-paid-for hotel room, the view had caught her immediate attention looking outside glazing in all of it’s glory that consisted of bright red, green, and white lights all spread across the streets of Chicago. While she was caught up in the moment, a thud sound came from her hotel room door. Two rhythmic knocks were right after the first one and then complete silence. Abiah slowly headed towards the door as she was quite tired already putting down her bag of clothes onto the floor. Before Abiah opened the door, she looked through the small see through glass structure that was on the middle of the door, realizing that it's someone she didn’t know.
