Chapter 10

1310 Words
Today’s the day! We are finally going back to Westmount Pack, and I couldn't be more excited! The first thing I did when we walked into the packhouse, is look for Blake. Scanning the room, I finally see him looking straight at me from the furthest doorway down the hall. A huge smile spread across my lips at the sight of this fine-looking man. But unfortunately, my smile doesn't stay for long. Someone I didn’t really want to talk to just yet has come into my line of vision, completely blocking my view of Blake. “Lana, can we talk?” My oh so annoying cousin asks, seeming nervous and fidgety. “About what?” I ask too abruptly. “Can we not fight? You just got here.” He sighs, his shoulders slouching. “Sure. As long as it’s not about me talking or being around Blake, then yes, we can talk.” I say sternly, but a little mockingly at the same time. His lips tighten in a thin line and I can already see the veins on his temple and neck bulge out. “Yeah, that’s what I thought,” I say, rolling my eyes, walking around him, bumping into his shoulder with mine as I pass him. In a swift movement, he grabs my arm, not too tightly, but enough for me to stop walking and turn to face him. “Look, Lana, you know I love you like a sister, and I know you know I only want what's best for you. I only want to protect you.”  Rolling my eyes again, he let go of my arm, his eyes darkening. “You know what? Fine! Do as you wish. But don’t come crying to me when he breaks your heart, because believe me, he definitely will!” He sneered with disdain, pointing his index in my face. “Yeah, sure. Whatever” I scoff. Turning around more irritated than ever, I look around for Blake, not seeing him where he was last any longer. Where did he go? I walk around, looking for him in the living room, the gaming room, to finally end up in the kitchen. Seriously, where did he go? Did I imagine seeing him earlier, too excited about the idea of seeing him? “Were you looking for me, princess?” A sultry voice I know all too well now, whispers near my ear. The all too familiar shiver crawling along my body. Turning around quickly, I jump up in his arms, giving him a tight embrace in the spur of the moment. “BLAKE!” I shout excitedly. With a chuckle, he slides his arms around my waist, holding me as tightly as I am holding him, inhaling my scent in the crook of the neck. “Did you miss me that much, princess?” He says, pulling back, slowly raising his hand to tuck in a loose strand of hair behind my ear. “I did. But only a little,” I say, blushing like a child being teased. “I can tell,” He answers laughing. ‘Oh, the sweet sound of his laughter. The things it makes me feel…’ ‘Don’t start Sacha! Wait until my birthday to confirm that he’s our mate. Then, and only then, will I give you full reign on yours and mine’s desires’ Focusing my attention back to him, I see him looking at me questioningly. “What?” I ask, slightly confused by the way he’s looking at me. ” Were you?” He started asking.  “No, never mind. It’s nothing” He says, shaking his head. “So, what do you want to do on your first day here? I’m sure Jeremy wants to talk to you.” He says, chuckling dryly. “Ugh! Don’t remind me! He’s already cornered me!” I huff, getting irritated again, remembering mine and Jeremy's conversation. Or I should say, him chastising me. “Asshat” I mumble under my breath, pouting and crossing my arms. “Did the two of you fight?” He asks, knitting his brows. Seeing his worry for me, my heart lightens and my anger dissipates. “Yeah, we did. But it’s fine. When he stops being an ass, we’ll patch things up.” I reply, dismissing this conversation with a wave of the hand. “What could you have possibly fought about as soon as you got here? You only did arrive ten minutes ago”  I guess he won’t let this conversation end for now… With a stern look, making me squirm on my feet, I try to deny answering. “It’s nothing”  “Lana” He warns, giving me such an intense look, that I give in and tell him. “Fine! He was warning me, again, to stay away from you! There, now you know! Are you happy?”  I snapped. “I figured as much. I got the same warning a few times before you got here. And even before we even knew you were coming to visit. He really doesn't want me around you, does he?” He says, shaking his head. The frustration I felt earlier when Jerr and I talked, is nothing compared to what I feel now after what Blake told me. “Are you serious!? Stupid i***t! Wait until I get my hands on him!” I seeth, fury rising in me like a blazing fire. “Woah there tiger, forget about it. It’s not like I’m going to listen to him. As if I’d stay away from my princess.” He says, taking my hand in his, pulling me closer, cupping my face with his other. Blushing crimson, I look down at our hands interlocked together. They fit so perfectly together. I really hope that we are fated mates. Then I can tell Jerr to suck it and laugh in his face! “So, princess?”  “What?” “You weren't listening to what I was saying, were you?” He chuckles, shaking his head. “Sorry, no. I wasn’t. I was lost in my thoughts for a second. What did you say?” “I was asking if you wanted to grab lunch with me today?” He asks, his eyes hopeful. “Oh! Yes, I’d love to!” I answer excitedly. “Cool. How about we go to that nearby pizza place? Then we could walk over to the strip mall and you could tell me what you like. It is your birthday in a few days, and I still haven't found that perfect gift for my perfect princess. On the inside, I’m jumping in excitement, but on the outside, I try my best to play it cool. “You don’t have to get me anything.”  “But you are turning sixteen. It’s a very special moment. You will become a fully shifted she-wolf and you have the possibility of finding your mate.” He says with a quirky, hopeful smile. Does he also think we are mates? “Just spending my birthday with you would be enough. You really don’t need to get me anything.”  “I would love to spend that day with you. And we’ll see about not getting you anything after we’ve eaten.” He says with the cutest crooked smile, making me melt. “Didn’t I tell you to stay the f**k away from her!?”  Oh boy, here we go again...
