Death
Kira
It hurts. It hurts so much.
I was shocked. As I looked down, blood was pouring out of my wound. Anthony Murk. He stood before me with a woman, Clarissa Durke. They looked at me, eyes filled with contempt. Cold, green eyes of the man I thought I would spend my life with stared down at me with not a shred of pity.
Anthony snaked him arm around Clarissa's waist and he pulled her into a passion filled kiss while I knelt on the ground in my room, bleeding out. Dying.
I stared at him wide eyed. "Anthony, why?" I asked, my breath, weak. Anthony pulled away from the kiss and smiled at me. It was a bone chilling smile. Clarissa smirked at me, her lips slightly swollen.
"Kira, you complete fool. You think Anthony loved you? He was just using you. Now that you have crowned him King, you're no longer of use to anyone. I AM THE ONE WHO WILL STAND BY HIS SIDE AS QUEEN," Clarissa said to me.
"HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME, ANTHONY?!" I screamed at him. My beloved. The one I trusted the most.
Anthony continued with his silence, as if he was contemplating something. "I never loved you. What I wanted was to be King. How could I keep you around. Every single one of your subjects look down upon me. The King who rides a woman's coat tails. This is what they call me," Anthony hissed.
I stare at him, tears in my eyes. I have never thought of him that way. I never knew what anyone else said about him. They always told me that he was amiable. A kind man. It had made me happy to know that the man I had loved was such a person. A good person. I was wrong. I meant nothing to him. Instead, he chose to be with a woman who had achieved nothing except be born into a rich, ducal house. How she had such a twisted personality was beyond me. The Durke's were a good family. The head of the house was a kind man who had given me his support. My most trusted advisor.
"What would your father, Duke Durke, say about what you're doing right now Clarissa?"
The woman looked at me, her eyes filled with hatred. "My father. Hmph. He's been dealt with. He's gone Kira. He found out about our plans. He always took your side anyway! I don't need a father like that. I own the Duke's house now. The only living survivor. Hahahaha!"
I coughed up blood as I heard what she said. She killed her father? Her mother was gone as well. They were kind people and they were murdered because they supported me. Murdered by their own daughter.
My blood and tears mixed together on the ground as I wept for my friend and advisor. The blood had begun to pool around me as I stared at my reflection. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.
Looking up at the pair once more, my gaze turned sharp. "I will die here. If there was another chance, I would have you both pay for what you have done. I swear, you will pay."
As I finished what I said, I felt Anthony unsheathe his sword and thrust it into my chest. The blade pierced my heart. I screamed in agony and felt to the ground, murmuring my oath of vengeance until my last breath.
Everything turned dark.
