Chapter four.
Jumping out of the shower I glace at the time 7am, and decide to try some of the new products on the side I pick up a round tub and examine it, I think it’s some sort of moisturiser I rub some into my face it smells of fresh cherry blossom, I sigh starting to dry my hair brightening from brown to golden blonde. I decide to keep it simple today just adding some mascara. I pull on a black skater skirt and tuck my white top into it. Strolling into the kitchen I notice everyone is asleep still, so I grab a large apple and decide to explore the surrounding area.
Leaves crunch beneath my boots as I wonder along a mud path through the forest. The leaves have started to change into an array of colours. Another reminder that my birthday is approaching. This is my favourite time of the year as the air is fresh and the leaves dance falling from the trees in a rainbow of colours. Left alone with my thoughts I continue walking. Moments later I suddenly realise that I am unsure of my way back, looking around I notice a reflection peering through the dense trees coated with light green moss covering the bark on one side. Entering the opening I see a large lake just like the one I passed yesterday. The gravel shifting under my feet as the morning sun reflects on the open water creating a soft glow. The gentle crisp wind loosens my curls, my skirt blowing in the wind. I perch on a nearby log closing my eyes and start to feel at ease. The sound of birds singing sweetly as fish leap around in the water. Lost to my thoughts I feel my inner wall crumble freeing my inner emotions. Tears tumble down my cheeks, “what am I going to do I am 18 in mere day? Where can I even go and who am I?” recently it feels like my whole life has flipped upside down. I feel so different all my senses seem clearer especially my sight and hearing. I am so overwhelmed. Begrudgingly, I open my eyes and begin retracing my footsteps in search of the house. The time is now 9:30am I’ve been gone for hours. What was I thinking this was only meant to be a quick walk. What were they thinking “had I run away?” I growl UGH! Overthinking again the only thing I’m good at! A branch snaps behind me startled I turn a large grey wolf is there growling ready to pounce. A scream escapes my mouth stepping backwards a tree root takes me off my feet, hitting my head on a nearby tree. The world around me spins, as a fuzzy blob gets closer a snarl fills my ears, suddenly a larger black shape tackles the other. Everything becomes black as the fight fades away into the distance.
Something as cold as ice nudges my face constantly until I groan my head pounding. Next thing I know a ruff lick across my face shocked and confused I open my eyes a large onyx black wolf stands before me purring like a cat. Panic fills me why was there a wolf Infront of me. Noticing my fear, it whimpers and walks away its tail between its legs. Concerned I stumble to my feet worried he had gone to get his friends. The smell of rain lingers but there were no clouds in sight. I continue along the path using trees to steady myself. I hear footsteps approaching fast, still clinging to the tree I see Tristan jogging towards me. Our eyes lock and concerns fills his eyes. “Willow are you ok?!What happened! His voice wavering. “I tripped over and hit my head it’s not that bad I’m just clumsy.” I step towards him losing my balance again as the forest spins around me. Falling into his chest as he catches me under the arms. Tristan examines me feeling my head. I wince as he brushes his hand down the back of my head a sharp pain shoots through my head making me nauseous. “Your white as a ghost, we need to get you checked out now!” I murmur my protest, and I receive a glare in response. I sigh “ok”. Tristan scoops me up bridal style and swiftly walks towards the house.
We reach my bedroom he kicks my door open and places me gently on my bed. “I will be back in a second I just need to call our doctor she will be here soon”, I nod silently in response. Tristan returns armed with a first aid kit. “She said she won’t be long but thought I should clean you up a bit before” I shrug in response. He sits beside me on the bed, tucking my hair over my Sholders and off my back to get a clear look at what he is dealing with. Reassuring me he places a hand on my shoulder. “Ready?” I shake my head, “I promise I’ll be gentle”.
I clutch my fist reding myself and nod. Tristan rips open a wipe from the kit and gently cleans the cut. I whimper as it stings from the alcohol. “Sorry! I didn’t mean to hurt you” taking a deep breath in I ask, “How bad is it?” Turning to face him he winces “I hate to say this, but I think you need stiches”. Tears stream down my face and my whole body shakes in panic. Tristan grasps my face “look at me it will be ok I will stay and protect you I’m sorry.” My eyes clearing, I stare into his eyes golden brown with a ring of green around the edge of the pupil. A phone rings disturbing us we jump apart Tristan rushing to answer the phone. “She’s here I will bring her up, do you want me to stay with you while she checks it out?” nervously I nod. The doctor cleaned me up adding stiches to close the cut on my head. I’m so embarrassed I wish I never asked him to stay, and I whimpered from the pain the whole time. Tristan reassured me it would be ok holding my hand and rubbing my shoulder. The doctor ordered me to stay in bed for a few days so the stiches could heal and then she left, and Tristan showed her out. I curled up into a ball on the bed my head pounding. Tristan was overwhelmed with concern I have no clue why, maybe his mother would blame him for what happened? I hope I haven’t got him into trouble. “Little wolf, lie down now the pain killers will kick in soon, so sleep it will help” he approaches me as I snuggle under the blankets and tucks me in like a sushi roll. A giggle escapes my mouth, and I see his eyes light up with happiness. “I will stay until you are asleep. Ok?” I nod in response as Tristan picks up a book and lounges on my window seat. As I drift away into a deep sleep.
