Chapter three.
I stir from my sleep as a loud knock sounds on my bedroom door “Dinners in 10 if you want it!” the husky voice declared. I respond sleepily “thank you, I’ll be down soon” glancing towards my window I notice that the sun had started to set over the canopy of trees. My stomach began to rumble as I reached for my bag in search of a change of clothes and my hairbrush removing my books from my backpack and placing them on to the window seat. I discovered my brush hidden right at the bottom like always. I unzip my case and puck out a pair of black leggings and a cream knitted jumper. I grab my brush ready to sort my hair and notice another door beside the empty bookcase, I thought to myself no way, it can’t be my own bathroom. Cautiously I peer inside, yep, these people have too much money what do they do for a job this is crazy. Inside there was a waterfall shower and large bathtub, the sink and shelves were piled high with anything I might need the even was a selection of make up, I look at my watch 2 more minutes I swiftly threw my hair up into a messy bun and glanced in the mirror of the vanity, my eyes were still swollen from earlier but I had no time for makeup so I splash my face with cold water in an attempt to conceal my puffy eyes. Satisfied with my look I headed down to dinner. Confused I descend the final set of stairs into the lobby, where even is the dining room I’m going to be late great this was not a good start. I took a deep breath and choose between one of the two double doors. As I push open the door the sweet aroma of stewed steak hits me, I sigh inwardly that smells amazing. Polly stands from the large table and walks towards me, her son sat impatiently waiting to eat. “Come sit Willow it’s just us tonight, my husband is at a meeting tonight but will be back tomorrow” Polly explained guiding me to a chair opposite her son. “Thanks, this smells delicious what is it?” I questioned only to receive an annoyed response “well it’s cold pie because you took so long” he rolled his eyes in answer. Polly glared at him “sorry about him you know what men are like always hungry, Tristan meet Willow. She will be staying with us for a while, so be nice or I will feed you to the wolves” she chuckled. “Nice to meet you Willow, can we start now?” grumbled Tristan. Polly nodded and we all dove into the food it was gorgeous the meat from the pie was still warm (eye roll) and melted in your mouth. The gravy from the pie socked into the fluffy buttered mash this food was heavenly. Within minutes I had devoured it all my plate sparkling. My hunger now satisfied I noticed how underdressed I was, and my cheeks flushed Polly was in a smart black dress which you would expect someone to wear to an office job and her son was in a button up shirt and dress trousers, I had nothing that fancy. “Are you ok Willow?” I nodded in reply smiling at Polly. “How old are you” asked Tristan eyeing me curiously. “I’m 17 but my birthday is in 2 weeks’ time” Polly squeaked bursting with energy “we must plan you a party!” Tristan not satisfied with my answer asked, “but why can’t I smell you?!” I was utterly confused “smell me what do you mean?” Polly looked at her son as if they were having a secret conversation. He awkwardly burst into laughter “Sorry you must have miss heard me I was agreeing with my mother about the party, it can’t be an issue”. Still extremely confused I ask to be excused from the table and return to my room.
I lie on the cushioned window seat huddled up with my book and continue reading my favourite book ‘A Lone wolf’ you would know this by how used the book is the pages are practically falling out. The moonlight shone through the bay window allowing me to read in the light of the moon, fitting really for the book I was reading.
