Lâm Hy stood before the headquarters of the "Thunder Bolt" eSports team, telling herself this was the biggest opportunity of her gaming career. She had no idea that the god-tier AD she was about to partner with was the very person she had cursed so harshly just days before.
Stepping into the meeting room, the atmosphere was somewhat stifling. Seated at the center was a tall young man, wearing a dark eSports jersey. His face was incredibly handsome but carried an aloof expression, his sharp eyes seemingly able to see through anyone's soul.
"This is Shen Dực, our captain and AD carry," the manager introduced.
Lâm Hy froze, the name "Shen Dực" echoing in her mind along with that hateful ID "Ares." She looked directly into his eyes, and noticed a hint of mockery in his gaze.
"Hello, I'm Lâm Hy, ID Bunny," she tried to keep her voice steady.
Shen Dực stood up and walked closer to her. The distance between them narrowed, allowing Lâm Hy to catch the cool minty scent emanating from him. He leaned down, close to her ear, his hot breath fanning her sensitive earlobe:
"Oh, so it's you. This 'trash AD' has been waiting for you, Bunny."
Lâm Hy's face flushed, partly from anger, partly from the excessive proximity. She pushed him away, her eyes fearless: "If you already know it's me, then you'd better show skills worthy of a captain."
The tryout took place immediately after. They were paired in a practice match against the junior team. Their coordination was initially disjointed, but gradually, a strange synergy began to emerge. Wherever Shen Dực moved, Lâm Hy seemed to anticipate and cast her support spells in time. Her perfectly timed "Flash - Grand Entrance" combos harmonized flawlessly with his damage output, leaving opponents no time to react.
After the match, Shen Dực looked at the MVP board, which displayed Lâm Hy's name. He said nothing, simply stood up and walked silently towards the lounge. As he passed her, he muttered: "Your skills are decent, but your attitude needs some 'training'."
That evening, after everyone had left, Lâm Hy stayed behind in the practice room to review the matches. Suddenly, the door opened, and Shen Dực walked in. He said nothing, just leaned against the doorframe, his sharp gaze sweeping over her every move. Lâm Hy felt a chill down her spine, as if a pair of eyes were scrutinizing her every action. She knew that the war between her and Shen Dực had only just begun.
