Pursuit - Part One

Outskirts of Adlaw

I need to go back to the Forest of Retribution. I need to hurry and warn the others. I hope they are back with Makisig as of this moment.

I checked the surroundings if Father's soldiers are still following me. I slowly moved at the rocks and felt the surroundings to check if there are any movements. I stayed in that position for a while and examined the surroundings. 

I guess I should have waited for Yari to come back, but it's better that I already found out what was Father's plan was. I did not know that he will do evil things to this extent. When I woke up in this world, I knew the place that was a bit off. Even though he was calling me his son, there was something wrong with how he interacts with me. At first, I did not bother because I thought he was that kind of leader, full of pride.

Turns begin to change when I accidentally found out his plans. He threatened me that he will kill those I treasure if I don't do what he wants. That's the time that he ordered me to do things that were against my will. Every time I disobeyed, he will lock me up in the dungeon, and when he has a mission for me, that's the only time that I can get out.

I can do nothing since he locked up my mother in a place that I don't know. I want Mother to be safe, thas why I did things that he ordered me to. That was the time that my hands were stained with blood for those people I killed mercilessly. I started to feel no emotions every time I kill someone. 

Then came the time that the news of the successors spread through the continent. Father was furious with the reports and ordered his soldiers to gather more information. They found out that someone from Bulan was the chosen of the moon. On that day, too, I found out that he sold himself to the evil forces, gaining immeasurable power. 

I was afraid of the idea if I did not follow his orders, my mother and the people's safety will be at risk. I prepared myself anytime for his charges. I also keep the fact that he was already an enemy of the people for myself. 

I thought I was lucky that someone called Apoloki gave me a chance to live again after that accident. I did not expect that things will turn out like this. 

Then father gave me an order to assassinate the Chosen of the Moon. I followed his request, and that's when I met Ayari. When I saw him for the first time, I can feel that he was someone that I knew for a long time. The person that I secretly loved, but I don't dare to tell the truth. I was afraid that people around us will judge the way we are, so I kept my feelings. 

Then came the time that the person confessed his feelings towards me. I don't know how to react, so instead of doing something, I remained silent.

I was about to kill the person that Father told me about, but I was surprised that he was so powerful, losing my chance. An idea came into my mind to befriend this person named Ayari. Time passed by, and I traveled with him, but the more I spent my time with him, the opportunity to kill him was too far. 

Then came the time that I noticed that I was growing fond of him. I tried to control my feelings, but I cannot do that. I was about to tell him the truth about who I was, but I always lost my chance. 

Instead of killing him, I want to protect him.

I summoned my spear and moved to another location. Still, no soldiers were around this area. I gripped my weapon tightly just in case those people will make a surprise attack.

I suddenly felt an ominous aura behind my back. An energy wave was fired in my direction. Luckily, I was able to sense the presence of the enemy. If not, I would have got hit by the attack. 

My guess was correct. Father sent one of his troops to capture me. I need to escape. How many are they? 

I also need to hide the mark from my hand. I ripped the end of my clothing and wrapped my arm with it. It will be dangerous if they found out that I am one of the successors. 

I looked around again, but there was no one approximately. Where did the attack come from? 

Another energy wave was fired towards my direction, but I deflected it using my flame spell. 

"Come out! I know where you are." I shouted and dared to enemies to do so. 

After a few moments of standing, a woman emerged from the woods together with men wearing red hoods. I did not see this woman before. Who could this person be? 

"Too bold of you, asking us to come out. If I were you, Master Apo, I would have escaped." The woman said. 

The sinister aura was coming from this woman. I can sense that she has the same wavelength as the heralds of darkness we have encountered so far.

Is she one of them? I really need to escape here if that's the case.

"Capture him alive!" The woman said. 

The troops began making their moves and started to dash towards me. I guess I have no choice but to fight my way out here. 

I ignited my spear and dashed where the enemy troops were. The sound of clashing metals filled the air. I swung my spear, hurling most of the enemies backward, knocking them unconscious. The soldiers continued on attacking me, but I was able to block all of them. 

I checked the woman, but she is just watching idly while the soldiers were fighting with me. What is she up too? I need to be careful. 

I kept on swing my ignited spear, making sure that the enemies cannot get closer to me. I need to take this chance to getaway. 

I struck the ground with my spear and cast my magic. 

"Flames of oblivion, bright as the burning day-star. 

Grant thy worshiper your power,

Obliterate those who go against your will.

Listen as I am the heir of the sun."

Giga Flame!

A magic circle appeared on the ground, causing the place to tremble violently. After a few seconds, most of the soldiers fell down, and flame geysers erupted from the earth. I made sure that no one would be caught up in my attack except the woman leading them.

The soldiers scattered in fear, and I directed the explosion towards the woman. This is now my chance to getaway. 

I ignited my legs and used the flame as a booster, and began to dash away from the scene. I looked around, but no one was following me.

I ran as fast as I can so that no one could catch up with me. I was confident that my spell will hinder the enemy's movements, but I was wrong. 

I felt the ominous aura rushing towards my direction at a fast pace. How can this be?

I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my left arm. When I looked at my arm, I saw that a dagger was stuck on it. 

When did this happen?

I stopped in my tracks and deflected the attack in front of me. 

"Where do you think you are going, Master Apo?" The woman said and let out a shrill laugh. 

'What do you want from me?" I asked. 

"Your father misses you a lot, so he wants me to pick you up." 

"I'm not going with any one of you, so don't follow me," I said.

The woman continued on laughing, and I can feel the surge of evil intent filling the air. This is really bad. 

"Sorry, Master Apo. I guess I have no options but to take you away by force."

Crap! I got caught up in a dangerous situation.
